RE: Solar while the RV is in Storage

My PV system is direct connected to the batteries and has its own shutoff. Of course, I designed and installed the system myself so YMMV.

RE: Garmin GPS

And what would you suggest for people that frequently go where there is no cell reception or other internet connection which Google Maps requires? Um, Google Maps. If you know you will have poor reception, it will let you download the area you will be traveling through. Kind of like updating a gps. Yes, I'm aware of that and have a number of downloaded maps. That will show me the roads and where I am but without any internet connection you can't start a routing or re-route. I really like Google Maps but it isn't a complete solution.

RE: Garmin GPS

That's why I suggest that those who want a large display buy a 7" - 10" tablet and use that with Google Maps. And what would you suggest for people that frequently go where there is no cell reception or other internet connection which Google Maps requires?

RE: Garmin GPS

Google Maps on a 7" or 10" tablet will do an even better job! Only if and when you have an internet connection. For some of us that often go where cell phone coverage is spotty at best that is not an option.

RE: Diesel Pusher upgrading to heavier toad-advice needed

If you think about it there is almost no wind resistance with the toad riding in the slipstream of your RV. I say almost because the air does swirl coming off the roof. And there is almost no rolling resistance (bearing and other driveline friction) but, of course, there is a little. Where you will see increased consumption, if you had really good (laboratory) instrumentation is during acceleration. But that only lasts a short while compared to just rolling down the highway. Based on my experience you will see more fuel impact from a windy day than from a heavier towed vehicle. So relax and enjoy! :)

RE: 50 AMP and plugging in at home

I installed a 30A outlet in my garage and have no trouble running one AC unit. With care (not starting them simultaneously) I can run two. Or I can run one and the fridge.

RE: TST - what am I missing?

Camping World and Gander Mountain are owned by the same parent company now. As to why they are so much cheaper: no idea. On sale? Loss leader? It is the same product (based on product code) as other vendors.
