RE: Residential refrigerator door shelf failures

GE has announced their entry into the RV appliance business with a new line of fridges, stoves, HW heaters, etc. Whirlpool used to make a good product, but the last 5 years or so we've noticed a rash of poorly engineered things like this and have found better quality and value in other brands. Given the experiences I have had with GE's high end profile line of appliances I'll pass. Hyped up junk. Fact is appliances today are not the appliances of 25 or even 5 years ago. If you get 5+ years out of a $2000+ refrigerator you hit the jackpot. And if you call service good luck, even more so if they need parts. A local mom and pop appliance/furniture store here quit carrying LG and Samsung because they were constantly getting callbacks on failures. Writing down all brand names available on little slips of paper, then drawing one blindly from a hat would work, then cross your fingers.

Inflation in a nut shell, or should I say a cardboard can. Pringles Potato Chips, Walmart, Jan 2022, $0.97 Pringles Potato Chips, Walmart, May 2022, $1.78 There you have it LOL.

RE: Vacation Home Buying Fizzling. RV's too?

Housing prices are up because there is a shortage of homes in desirable areas. Lots of demand, no supply. We see supply and demand issues affecting literally everything right now, mostly a fallout of Covid. This is a completely different and normal part of economics and the sky is not falling. The Fed is increasing rates to help curb inflation caused by this unpredicted supply and demand issue. Not to mention they haven't raised rates in a very long time. It's not doom and gloom. I wonder what $11.00 2X6X93-5/8" studs and $37.00 sheets of 7/16" OSB have to do with it LOL. I never knew how much I enjoyed the Lowe's Saturday special every once in awhile with the $4.97 7/16" OSB. I look at it all using other barometers however, such as my fertilizer costs, some of which are up over 400% which is unprecedented, it's new territory and its gotten / going to get ugly. I won't get started on diesel / fuel prices. The sky fell over a year ago and you're walking on it, it is soon going to crack. You can not eat your house.

RE: (Leak!) Toilet plumbing connection to Black Waste tank...

Think in reverse. The black tank was one of the first things installed on the chassis to make it easy on the assembly line, then the house was built over it. Piping from the tank was assembled at the point it was easiest while the floor was being dropped on. There was absolutely no thought or engineering put into any future issues should they occur. I believe I would have already removed the wheel well tub, which is most likely slapped in with some narrow crown staples and caulk. Fernco connectors and long or multiple socket extensions are your friend.

RE: Ford stops taking orders on the lightening

Thats funny. !/2 mile away from me a Subaru dealer just built a big fancy new showroom/office building and blacktopped a huge lot for inventory. My neighbor is the shop foreman and told me that the small building they had was not even close enough for all the Subaru's they sell and service.See who is laughing when every Subaru has $10,000 to $30,000 ADM. That's interesting. The largest Subaru dealer in Columbus OH has a total of 4 new vehicles in stock, and 2 of those are 4 dr sedans, all have an ADM tacked on, albeit they do not advertise it. Like most other dealers around here, I am sure you have to show up in person before they attempt to bend you over. Fun times although when the whole house of cards crashes down shortly the buyers markets will return, as they always do when the sheet hits the fan.

RE: Ford stops taking orders on the lightening

For your viewing enjoyment. @ an 18%+ market adjustment and it's a 2021 LOL, but it's "in stock" and is probably afflicted with the suspension failures when taken off the pavement and body leaks which are being reported more and more with the Bronco. https://i.imgur.com/8Rt3Kn1l.png https://i.imgur.com/zqGewXLl.jpg

RE: Ford stops taking orders on the lightening

It's all lip service. Buoyed by state's franchise laws It's super special here in OH. In most states the word/term "wholesale" in name or advertising is not allowed to be used, not so here. You would be surprised at the number of idiots that fall for that one and think theyre getting a deal. We have "wholesale" car dealers, "wholesale" RV dealers, "wholesale" appliance stores, take your pick. I can jump over the line up to your neck of the woods, or over to PA, and beat the tar out of any of their prices on anything.

RE: Small trailer suggestions

The Ember brand might be worth looking at. I have looked at a couple of them and they are geared towards boondockers if that interests you. They seemed to be higher build quality compared to most. I didn't look them over closely, but the floors aren't "squishy" in them. They are in most, and for me that's an instant no. I don't think they would be lightweight though. Seeing that "Ember" is staffed from the top down with Indiana RV Industry insiders, I am not so convinced they're higher build quality. Two that jump out at me that made the same claims were Keystone RV and Grand Design. The same bozo's were involved with both, then lined their pockets and bailed out LOL. I owned both and they were low grade garbage from day 1. Every "new" manufacturer based in the Elkhart/Goshen IN area since forever makes that claim. Its all marketing BS. None have ever reinvented the wheel nor do they care to. The Founder/COO of Ember worked for both Thor and Forest River which should tell you something. I doubt he has had some divine intervention regarding build quality. Old dogs don't learn new tricks.

RE: Advice on Best Type of Internet

Satellite internet IS THE FUTURE Not really, companies such as the former Level3 and quite a few others spent over a decade and billions of dollars running fiber networks all over the US. I don't think you'll see anyone digging up or ripping things down off utility poles for awhile, if ever.

RE: Ford stops taking orders on the lightening

F-150 lightning outrageous dealer markups: Ford fires warning shot In a nutshell. "Lets make a threatening statement to our dealers publicly, it will look good, then do nothing" GM made almost the same statement publicly over a year ago but there are still a lot of dealers here in OH tacking on $5000 "market adjustments" and the allocations were not touched in any way shape or form. It's all lip service.

RE: Vacation Home Buying Fizzling. RV's too?

The vast majority are cash sales. The number of people who don’t bat an eye over a multi million dollar purchase are staggering. So what is the number of those folks as a percentage of the US population? 0.01%? I am in fairly decent shape financially, but I am certain it's not a good time to drop a million cash on a slopeside 900 SF Condo in Loseyourass CO or somewhere as an investment LOL. I sat in for one of my people last Friday 4-29 who was on Vaca, and hauled a semi load of cattle to the auction in PA from OH. When I passed a truck stop off of I-80 in the morning road fuel was $5.36. On the return trip 5 hours later it was $6.09. One year ago it was south of $4.00 at the same stop IIRC. This is not going to end well once these prices cycle through since just about everything you buy is on a truck at some point. "I doubt there will be lines of sales on the courthouse steps any time soon." You may be correct but folks jumping out windows may be a possibility. I do not see how RV sales can not fizzle, two years ago the MSRP on the TT below, which is a run of the mill trailer which would be purchased by the average camper/RV'r in this country with average means was @ $40K +/-, it's now closer to $60K. https://i.imgur.com/KQw08uwl.jpg

RE: Ford stops taking orders on the lightening

I read where Ford may make buyers of the Lightening sign a contract that they cannot sell the vehicle for a year after purchase. I would like to see them enforce that. Are they going to change the Ford Oval to a tilted Swastika? Come on down to your local Fordungruppenfuhrers, see Adolf Jones in sales today for a great deal! ROFLMAO. They should make the Ford dealers sign a contract that limits sales to no more than MSRP. https://i.imgur.com/XAZE2fLl.jpg ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Can't wait to see how this plays out. I think Fords going to make a lot of anti EV haters rethink it. Of course not the macho macho men. So EV proponents? Cause people that hate anti EV people like EVs, right? ;) How many on this 13 page thread actually own an EV? Looks like 2 with one of those being a hybrid.

RE: Ford stops taking orders on the lightening

So not zero. Depends on the state. Not long ago OH slapped a $200 surcharge on passenger EV's, $100 on hybrids over and above the $31 yearly reservation fee and you would think it was the end of the world with protests at the state capital over in Columbus LOL. It was an insurrection. There is no free lunch and if you think there is you're a fool.

RE: first commercially available all electric RV

How much to import to the US from Austrialia over and above the $79K? I can see such rigs in the future being pumped out by Thor and Forest River, crammed chock full of high quality WFCO, Lippert, and Furrion electrical components ROFLMAO.

RE: Service is really slipping

Google search and a credit card have just about made roadside assistance obsolete. Not quite. I'm paying for a service that could potentially save me lots of money. Except in this case it resulted in nothing. "RV ROADSIDE MECHANICAL REPAIRS- If necessary and whenever possible, depending on the RV disablement, there MAYbe a local mobile mechanic available that can perform minor repairs or adjustments to your RV. In these situations, we'll ATTEMPT to bring a mobile mechanic to your location as an alternative to towing your vehicle. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COSTS OF PARTS AND LABOR." I hope you get reimbursed but based on the language in the contract I expect you'll be told to pound salt.

RE: Bedroom slide bind

Unfortunately attention to detail and the words plumb, level, straight, or square do not exist in the vocabulary of the mass producing midwest RV manufacturers. They have a hard time getting so much as a decal straight. They also could care less what happens as soon as the sale is made.

RE: OEM vs Aftermarket - Chinese JUNK Comparison

Since I don't pay my insurance premiums with foreign or counterfeit currency, when the DW bent her car, I made it crystal clear to both the body shop and insurance adjuster that no non OEM or used parts were to be used. Dealing with an accident is bad enough, but having to worry about poor quality parts is just not right. Read your policy. Exactly. I change carriers just about every time renewal comes up. In the past 10 years or so we've had Progressive, State Farm, Liberty, Erie, Farmers, NJM, and a couple more. Every single one of those had spelled out in the policy non OEM parts could be used. To get OEM parts specified it was always an up-charge to the premium and a substantial one. If you're getting the discount rate, you're going to get discount non OEM parts.

So why don't converters have VIN numbers on them like so many body parts? What many body parts have the VIN on them?
