RE: Break away cable

I have attached the connection to the security chains (if you have them)if not then a service hook somewhere in the bed. Just need to make sure it wont snag on anything when making turns. I have a Andersen system and used to just loop it around one of the support legs till I got the chains.

RE: Please help me identify 5th wheel towing issue.

smarty, we usually travel with about 10 gallons of water to flush toilet when traveling and other emergencies. mapguy, it appears level but will recheck. I had to raise ball on hitch one hole to deter damage to my toneau cover rails. I can raise the pin box up one hole if needed. No helper springs on truck yet but it does sag at least 2" to level as GM's sit ass high to start with. Have not checked weight yet to verify pin weight. Maybe this weekend i can find a place.

RE: Please help me identify 5th wheel towing issue.

Super_Dave, feels like its coming from the back and I have suspicions that it might be somewhat to do with the trans. I only have 26k on the truck. Was going to have a full fluid change out to synthetic but $300 is pricey. ependydad, not ready to ditch the Andersen yet. I love the fact that its easy to hook up and lightweight.Want to exhaust all possibilities first. I plan on getting the rig weighed to help troubleshooting.

RE: Please help me identify 5th wheel towing issue.

thomas201, if you drive for 3 or more hours with the fore and aft jerking, it gets old. Sometimes it makes my dog sick and she pukes. It only hurts the body not the rig. LOL

RE: Please help me identify 5th wheel towing issue.

bpounds, I have fox 2.0s on all 4 corners. looking to get some sumo springs to help with weight even though I do not sag below level. That might help.

RE: Please help me identify 5th wheel towing issue.

bpounds, yes those weights are guesstimates. I have not weighted it but it did seem to ride better when I had a 3/4 full water tank. So you may be on to something. How to load up more pin weight? Got a full basement and fully loaded under bed...hmmm. I may have a way to weigh pin at home with a scale that I had from TT. Pin weight dry is 1660lbs and my guess was a little high on trailer weight. GVWR is 12K so I am under that probably closer to low 11K which still puts me at about 20%

Please help me identify 5th wheel towing issue.

I have a 2016 3/4 ton GMC gasser with Anderson hitch connected to a 32' trailer that weighs 12.5k with about 2100lbs pin weight. When traveling I get a jerking in TV when there is a load. Happens going up a hill or slight elevation in road. Usually felt more above 30mph. I have a cushioned pin box and Morryde Cre3000 added to suspension. Is this "chunking" or do I have an issue with slipping tranny or chugging motor. Can't see tach moving. Never happens on down hills or full throttle pulls up hills. No issues noted when not towing. It can even happen on smooth roads. Its not constant but happens enough to be annoying.

RE: Looking into a 2017 Grand Design

I own a 2018 Grand design Reflection 303RLS and we love the layout. It has many nice features including large storage tanks, great storage areas and well laid out control center called (nautilus). This is where all your dump and water valves are. Like any manufacture they are some reported issues but Grand Design is very good at standing behind their product. I had some minor issues that were addressed by dealer under warranty visit. Had some loose hardware and TV reception issues.

RE: Water tank size.... What would you do?

I was lucky in my old keystone the fresh tank was under the bed. it was 40 gal and would barley last two days. I replaced with a 60 gal and could get through weekends with showers for the 2 of use. It cost about $300 to replace but was accessible and easy to replace. Under frame ones would present more of a challenge. Adding to an earlier comment,no all 5th wheel brands skimp on tank size, My Grand design has 60 gal fresh and 87 gal grey.
