RE: Advice on new Gas Tow vehicle

This depends on where you are towing, Full Time you will probably hit roads like Utah 12 outside Escalante with a 12% grade. A gasser will do it but it will be running at high rpm. And check out the expected mileage on those gassers, you will think you are driving a big Class A. You will join that bunch of irritating posters who continuously put up posts saying "how to I get to point B from point A without any steep roads?"

RE: Idea for filtered air into the RV

If you are talking about filtering air to remove virus particles, forget it. You need something like 0.1 micron filters and no Maxair is going to pull air thru one of those filters if you could even find one. The would be rather pricey too. In the Navy we had little air samplers, about the size of a rural mailbox, that filtered air thru 0.45 micron filters that were about an inch and a half in diameter. They were commonly called the 'Cadillac' because you could buy one of the cars for what the pump cost. If you are talking about filtering dust out of the air, then enjoy yourself.

RE: cabinet door coming apart

looks like a simple glue job. chevman Glue plus clamps of some sort to pull it tight and hold it while the glue sets: Same principal here he fixes a Table but the idea is the same

RE: Mattress

Most RV beds are 'rv short', for example the mattress would be "RV King short" not a regular mattress. So it sounds like someone replaced the original with a normal full length mattress. You have to live with it or replace it with an RV short.

RE: Emergency Travel - Texas to South Georgia?

We took 82 across from Mississippi to mid Texas last summer. It was a mix of bad and OK. 10 miles of bad, patched, potholed roadway followed by some better pavement. There was a lot of construction on the road so maybe it's better now.

RE: Used tow vehicles

A 2.5 gal bottle lasts me 3000 miles or so and costs $7. That's 4.3 cents a mile. Doesn't exactly break the bank Going 3,000 miles on something that cost you $7 would have a cost per mile of $.00233(as in less than a quarter of a penny). You're right I was calculating miles per penny

RE: Used tow vehicles

Is that all? Heh that truck with the 7.3 is in high demand. All used diesels are pricey compared to gassers.

RE: What is this called?

Are you looking for a solution to a problem you don't have? lost me here. Since I will be towing a fairly heavy RV out west the explanation above seems to apply to my truck.

RE: What is this called?

There are a couple on Amazon at $99, now I know the name. One has good reviews and comes with all the hardware. I'm going to order one of those. Thanks for all the answers and especially the explanation of what it does.

RE: Closure Threads

Florida is installing border checkpoints to catch NYC, NJ, CT and New Orleans people entering the state: USA Today As a Floridian in a low infection part of the state all I can say is: "What took so long to do this?"

RE: What is this called?

Thanks, it's also called the 'air valence' and at $178 it's either gone for good or a junk yard trip is in the cards.

What is this called?

OK what is that black plastic piece, under the bumper and which stretches all the way across the bottom front of the truck called? I have a F350. I thought it might be the dam but that doesn't not find the part. I looked thru the Rock Auto body part section but could not find one. I wasn't too worried at first but it's loss actually exposes some rods and other parts plus I think it might affect mileage. Any help is appreciated.

RE: Closure Threads

1) campedium has a running list of state park closures and maybe more 2) President Trump said at a press conference this afternoon that they were considering closing NYC and some of the surrounding area. He refused to go into details saying it was still being discussed. Here is a link: Quarantine of NYC, parts of NJ and Conn.

RE: Power center problem

Are you reading the voltage across the fuse terminals (or where the fuse would go)? If so, having a very high resistance on the load side, nearly an open circuit, would make your meter show something other than 12V. Having an entirely open circuit would result in basically no reading as there's no path to ground. Slightly more useful is to check the voltage from the source side of the fuse to a known ground point; they should all be at (nominal) +12V and all be the same. Since a meter doesn't provide any significant load, though, it doesn't tell you much beyond there's some connection there; in particular, it tells nothing about how good that connection is. OK I'll try that. The other fuse terminals showed 13+ volts tho so it's a strange coincidence that the two circuits that I have trouble with are the two that do not.

Power center problem

OK I have a Arctic Fox 25Y and the power center so far as I can tell is a PD5000. I can not find any manuals or installation guides on the PD website and the AF manual has a worthless paragraph. This is a straight distribution panel not including a converter which is separate. I have had a long standing problem with my entertainment center which resolved (but not fixed) to low 9V on the power lines. Just yesterday the lights went out in the kitchen/living room area. They work everywhere else. Checking the fuses, which were good I decided to check the voltage on the jacks that the fuses plug into. I found 13+ V on all the pin pairs except fuse numbers 2 and 9 which are the ones for the lighting that is out and the number nine which is the stereo. On those I get 6V and 9V respectively. The 9V is the same I was getting when checking the wiring at the stereo. I can't find a thing helpful on the PD site, just a block diagram. Any ideas? I've pulled the power center out and except for a welter of wires I can see nothing. I hoped for loose connections but no. I thought I might be able to jump a 12V line to the low voltage -inputs- on the fuse block but that is internal to the box and inaccessible. The only thing that shows is the output wiring. I could jump to those but that would overload one fuse or another. Any suggestions welcome

RE: Spearfish, SD

I don't know ahy you'd want to spend that much time at that park, it's small and there just isn't that much to see.

RE: Sierra 2500 fifth wheel hitch - factory prep vs aftermarket

The same side as always. I can see if you have a rail in the bed system then not wanting to pay to change it. But when you are starting out new then why use the inferior system?
