RE: Does the Color of an HD Pickup Make a Difference?

worrying about if the next guy will like the color is like not sleeping with your wife to save her for the next husband. That being said, buy the color you want and don't worry what others think.

RE: new unit alert!

Ran into a few issues over the last two weekends with the new unit. 1st issue, rear axle is bent along with the left rear spring hanger, noticed this giving it its first wash as the left rear tire was well worn on the inside thread. The dealer was responsive and it’s getting a new axle and tire Monday morning. Sadly the tire won’t be a Goodyear to match the other three as they are out of stock locally. I don’t really care as I’m getting Bridgestone Duravis tires as originally planned next spring anyways. 2nd issue, turned the heat on yesterday for the first time since it’s been crazy warm here the last few weeks, got almost no heat so I started digging into it and the cover on the back of the furnace was missing a screw and letting all the heat into the storage compartment. New screw was put in, easy 5 minute fix and it works perfect now. So all in all for a new unit, these are minor teething issues.

RE: Alternatives for Michelin XPS Ribs?

I ran Bridgestone Duravis R500HD on my last fiver for 4 summers before trading it in three weeks ago and they still looked like new (estimated 35000km’s on them), fiver was a 10.4K GVWR. My. New unit has 6k axles and base on my previous experience with the Bridgestones I will get a set of either R238’s or R500HD’s at the start of the next seasons. No reason to replace the tires this late in the season just to have them sit all winter, I’ll do it early next season.

RE: new unit alert!

Beautiful unit! Curious, can you access the refrigerator when the slides are in? We are internet shopping to transfer from a older TT to a 5th Wheel. the right side door of the fridge can be opened with the slid closed so you can access about 80% of the contents with the vegetable crispers being the only exception. Washroom access is also good with all slides closed.

RE: new unit alert!

I like the JTs on the rear jacks. Wish my KZ, with 4-point, had them. Lyle Truth be told, i had them installed as part of the deal and they really aren't even needed, the unit doesn't move at all.

RE: new unit alert!

Took it out for its first official outing this weekend and I'm happy to report that A) Everything works properly and B) fully packed it tows really nice behind my F350. The dual A/C is really nice and with how hot is was all weekend it was certainly a nice upgrade to have. With Auto level setup is so much faster than before. Use this to post your pictures.

RE: new unit alert!

Sweet looking rig and floorplan, Grand Design builds a solid unit and customer service has been known to work hard toward complete customer satisfaction. When we were looking for a new rig last year they were on our very short list of towable RV manufacturers, we ended up with a motorhome but we almost pulled the trigger on a Grand Design 5er. Have many great adventures, I am sure the family will thoroughly enjoy RVing in your new Reflection. I have to say that after giving the unit a hand wash and wax along with packing our stuff in it I had a good chance to see and touch just about every nook and cranny of the unit - the Build quality/ Fit & Finish seems to be far improved from my previous KZ unit that I was quite happy with and over all feels much more solid (maybemoreso going from a 1500 series light model to a regular heavier unit).

RE: Towing with a 2022 Ford 150 3.5 EcoBoost

i towed a 7700 GVWR 29ft TT back in 2011-2013 with a 2011 F1500 Ecoboost max tow and i felt it was a very well matched combination, yes a 250/2500 will tow better but i was not unhappy with the performance at all. Engine braking would be the only place that it fell a little short.

Nice. In your second pic, I see your landing gear down low. Does it ride that way going down the road? the phot might be making it look worse than it is, the front landing gear had about 13-14" to the ground and the stabilizers about 10" to the ground.

new unit alert!

After a few weeks of back and forth with the dealer, i hauled down my 2015 KZ Durango 296BHS to Leisure Time RV in Quispamsis NB and traded it in on a 2021 Reflection 311BHS. Paid the difference with a bank draft and the new unit is ours free and clear, feel extremely lucky to be in a position in life to do that. This particular unit had all of the factory optional packages and also had the second AC unit and JT Strongarms installed. I had them install the MORRYDE Pinbox before i left on my journey back home to Moncton NB (about an hour). So far I'm very impressed with the build quality and the features on this unit, I'm hoping it serves us as well as our last unit did over the last 6 summers and roughly 55000km's of roads it went down. Its around 11500 dry and has a GVWR of 13995, hauling it back home empty i have to be honest that i couldn't tell the difference from hauling my old unit there which was around 8100 dry. I did take the factory 3.5" blocks that i had swapped out for 2" one four years ago to lower my truck and put them back in knowing that this unit was heavier and not a 1500 series so it should sit higher, i was right. Hitch head needs to be adjusted 1" down and i should be completely level. width=640 width=640 width=640 width=640 width=640 width=640 width=640 width=640 width=640 our old trusty unit width=640 Moderator edit to re-size pictures to forum recommended limit of 640px maximum width.

RE: B&W Companion Hitch Shock replacement

its an easy job, i did mine last summer in about an hour or so. B&W was nice enough to send me a free replacement shock for the head.

RE: Towing Nose High

i swapped out the 3.5" spacers on the rear of my F350 to the 2016 F250 2" spacers and it leveled out my truck and lowered it approx 2" in the rear, this really helped me level out my trailer. All factory parts FYI. between the 2" drop on the rear of the truck, the spring perch adjustments on the trailer and going from 225/75R15 to 215/85R16 tires and wheels i was able to level it out properly. My biggest issue was that it is a 1500 half ton towable model so the front section is a bit lower. Been towing with this setup for 40000km's without issue. width=640 Moderator edit to re-size picture to forum recommended limit of 640px maximum width.

RE: Rancho shock question

i've been very happy with the 9000XL's i put on two summers ago - much better than the factory units but probably not as good as the Bilstein's that are available.

RE: Opinions on lightweight portable inverter/generators

I'd be hard pressed to try another brand now that I've had my pair of Honda 2000's for the last 7 years. They work wonderful and with the extended run boat tank setup can run for hours upon hours at the track to cool the fiver.

RE: F150 w EcoBoost 2.7

if your truck is getting the job done, who cares about the towing MPG unless you're full timing and doing 30000 miles per year. The cost to upgrade to a F250 diesel will far outweigh some extra fuel.

RE: F150 and Reflection 150 series?

towing with a Hensley/PP it feels very similar to towing a fifth wheel - i had a PP setup on my 33ft wildwood with my previous F250 and it towed excellent, world of difference from the Reese dual cam i started out with. I would recommend that to anyone with a longer TT or a shorter wheelbase TV. When i moved on to a Fiver, i gave the setup to my father to use with his then 2010 Tundra and 2011 KZ 32ft TT and he enjoyed that setup for three summers.

RE: Real life Hybrid towing experiences

i would shy away from any hybrid with a CVT for towing purposes.

RE: Ram "limp Mode"... Again!

if this was a Ford or GM problem thread the Ram guys would be all over how those trucks are junk.... Anyways to the OP, its a miserable situation to be in and as others have said, trucks are selling for higher values right now so if you're even thinking of dumping it your timing is good, otherwise i hope they get you taken care of and back to doing what we all love - RVing!
