Can’t we all just get along?

RE: Slide trouble

Not knowing what slide set up you’re dealing with I’ll roll the dice and say Lippert. Check out their website. Once you determine which slide setup you’re dealing with, check the related videos which I have found to be very helpful in the past. Click here:

RE: trailer suspension

To answer your question, is it practical? No. Some of these suggestions are ludicrous. Some of the suggested upgrades aren’t even available for a single axle trailer! If you want to be pro-active and improve the ride and safety of your trailer, replace the tires with a quality tire like Goodyear Endurance or Maxxis M8008. You might be able to move up a size to a tire with a little more load capacity. Regardless what tire you get, have them balanced. Properly inflate them and religiously monitor them. Install a quality hitch and set it up per instructions, and properly load your trailer as mentioned in the posts above. Get rid of the cheap tires. Now load up, hook up, and hit the road. Go make some memories.

RE: Nubs on stabilizer rod worn down. Can these be replaced?

While you’re under there you might consider lubricating the threads.

Make sure they’re properly balanced.

RE: Ram 6.7 fuel filters

Using a Wix filter will NOT affect your warranty. I’ve used Wix in my 6.7 when I couldn’t find Mopar. No problem. I guarantee you that the WIX is NOT as good of a filter as the MOPAR/FleetGuard. I sure would NOT bet my warranty on it. I recently had to prove proper filtration on a MaxCare warranty claim. So let us know how that works for you if you have a filtration related warranty. Chrysler does NOT screw around anymore. Please refer to Magnuson-Moss Act of 1975

RE: Tire exploded in Florida

I believe you meant Goodyear Endurance tires as their Adavantage line is designed for automobiles, not trailers. Maxxis M8008 are also a good choice. Whatever non-Chinese tire you choose, be sure to have them balanced.

RE: Drill motor for stabilizers

I have a Milwaukee 18V that I already had for my job. If/when it goes, I’m going to Harbor Frieght and buy a $30 cordless drill.

RE: “Pathetic quality”: RV dealers are fed up...

Though most RV’s are poorly built, I hold the dealers responsible, too. Too many problems I’ve witnessed in new units could have been corrected by the dealer prior to delivery. Their PDI in many cases is nonexistent. As stated in the article, “ we sell what we get and move on…” they should add, …”to the bank with big profits.” RV quality is an oxymoron. Toyota or Honda should make RV’s.

RE: Towing New Trailer

I had an Equal-i-zer hitch on my first TT. Now I have a BlueOx Sway Pro hitch on my Airstream. It works well and does what it’s suppose to do, but it can be a ***** to hook up and to un hitch. It came with the trailer. Otherwise I would have gone with an Equal-i-zer.

RE: Best Quality Travel Trailers

I’ve been RVing since high school. Now that I’m all grown up, and retired, I purchased my last trailer. This will be #5. I purchased an Airstream Bambi. It’s an entry level trailer, but the build & construction quality is far superior to any of my previous RV’s. It is also the best towing trailer I’ve ever owned. I was considering a Lance, but the boss, I mean DW liked the Airstream better. It’s not for everyone, but we’re very happy with it.

RE: RV sites near Raleigh, NC

A lot depends on where in Raleigh they are moving. There are a couple of RV parks South of town near Garner. As mentioned, the NC State Fairgrounds offer full hook ups. The campsites in local state parks offer only water and 30A service with a dump at the entrance. There is an awesome RV resort in Four Oaks called Raleigh Oaks RV Resort, about 30 miles South of Raleigh. Where in Raleigh are that moving?

RE: Opinions on 5th Wheels with Island Kitchens

We had a Columbus 320RS with an island in the kitchen. The nice thing was it was on wheels. This worked out great as we were able to move it as necessary for more room. It was secured when we traveled and never caused a problem.
