RE: Any advice for replacing exhaust manifold gasket in a 454?

Turns out those are the wrong gaskets. This manifold has round ports and those gaskets are oval. Looks like I need a Fel Pro 1412 or Mahle 95100SG. Any idea what heat riser gasket it would take? The distance between bolts is 3 9/32" and the hole diameter is 2 9/16" but I came up empty. http://www.fototime.com/F23FA6BDA4FDC36/large.jpg

RE: Any advice for replacing exhaust manifold gasket in a 454?

Got it off today in less than an hour. http://www.fototime.com/BA28D8EFABB364B/large.jpg http://www.fototime.com/689CDE1A1A2DC7B/large.jpg Didn't bother using any fluid as it's mounted with bolts and no way to reach the threads behind the manifold. Bolts came out without any issue. Which gasket should I use? This metal GM gasket for about $20? https://images.wrenchead.com/smartpages/partinfo_resize/DCL/12551449_Primary.jpg Or these composite style aftermarket for half that for a pair? https://www.rockauto.com/info/6/SFL_MS90206_P04_TOP__ra_p.jpg

RE: How do I reach these clearance lights?

Not a fear of heights just don't like that there is no railing or anything on the sides. It's only 12 feet but might as well be standing on the ledge of a skyscraper. Might ask the place that did the inspection if they can replace it.

How do I reach these clearance lights?

http://www.fototime.com/4B9A0913C008639/large.jpg Specifically the one in the middle. I'm not getting on the roof. I have no place I can park it under to reach it from above. I got to the outer ones fine with a ladder, but it's too far a reach from the sides. Can I lay a ladder on the front over the windshield without breaking the glass?

Are you sure its a blown gasket and not a cracked manifold? At this point does it matter? Either way it has to come off.

They are cast iron. I've never seen cast iron formed into tubular shapes like these, especially with that accordion section in the middle like that.

your selling it. Get it hot, mix up some furnace cement, or buy some pre mixed, and but it on the leak. Let it dry before starting. For a blown gasket?

If you look very carefully the stock manifolds are probably cracked anyways. I thought they were stainless steel?

I'm selling it so need the simplest thing that will pass inspection.

Should it be hot or cold when removing the bolts?

Any advice for replacing exhaust manifold gasket in a 454?

On my 1988 Southwind the driver side is leaking and wont pass inspection. I have a 1989 P30 factory service manual but it pretty much just says to remove spark plugs, remove exhaust pipe, remove manifold bolts and plug shields, remove manifold. I'm sure it's more involved than that.

RE: Hood release cable frozen

After 20 minutes of prying on both ends I got the cable broke free from whatever had it seized. It's not smooth but works good enough to let it pass inspection before I sell it.

Hood release cable frozen

On a 1988 Fleetwood Southwind. I removed the cable and can't get any movement from either end. The plastic cover looks fine. Trying to work some lube into the ends but not having any luck. Does anyone make a replacement cable?
