RE: Direct TV revisited

Had basically the same problem when we tried to change our service location from Oregon to Yuma AZ. Directv has got to have the worst customer service in the world. They will tell you anything and promise to call back when the problem is solved. Of course they never do.I talked to 16 different Directv reps before they finally sent someone out to change out our receiver and dish antenna. Everything is working fine now but I can no longer receive Directv in the motorhome. Will most likely cancel when we get back on the road this summer.

RE: Full time with DirectTV

Directv/AT&T has the worst customer service in the world!! After they shut off the distant network service we tried to just change service address like everyone says. I kept track; talked to 16 different people (non of whom I could really understand)and finally ended up with a new receiver and a new dish. Now we have a receiver that is not compatible with our RV dish antenna. Wishing you lots of luck dealing with Directv.

RE: I Like Verizon, But.....

Weather and distance to the cell towers has a lot to do with signal quality. We have had Verizon for years but had to Switch to AT&T when we started spending summers on the Oregon coast. Used to have to drive about 5 miles into town to get a decent signal.

RE: I just got the new RV Magazine

Had a subscription to Motorhome magazine for many years which I enjoyed. It seemed like every month though that it became smaller and smaller. Just a few months ago when it was time for renewal I made the decision to let my subscription expire. Sounds like I may have made a wise decision.

RE: Meds on the road.

We switched to using a mail order pharmacy. We then just have our meds sent to general delivery at a post office near where we are or are going to be. It is a good idea though to call the post office and verify the general delivery options. Never had a problem doing this. With your refrigeration needs though you would have to time it pretty close.

RE: Amazon to close down Kindle lending library January 2021

That sucks. I bought my wife a kindle for Christmas.

RE: Installing a safe?

My preference is semi hidden but accessible with strong mounting bolts through steel backing plates. I would rather have damage than lose the contents. My safe is not going anywhere unless you bring a saw and a torch. Gun either stays on me, near me, or in the safe if I choose to leave it behind.

RE: Large Shut-Off

Fresh water tank drain. They are hard to turn and often after opening and closing they will drip and you have to open and close again.

RE: Splendide 7100xc Module Board?

Call Westland Sales (503) 722-9202 they are the factory sales and service for Splendide. Great people and they will assist you in troubleshooting your unit. They also will sell you the parts you need, Not a fan of the non vented model but if you elect to repair it these are the people to talk to.

RE: Cheater Vent - Air Admittance Valve

Do you really think a manufacturer would spend one cent extra unless it was absolutely necessary?

RE: Onan exhaust hangers don’t last

My first one last about 5 years. The replacement came from a auto parts store and its been on there 15 years. It looks like maybe a tire type laminated material. Without some flex you going to get breakage on metal to metal connectors. Same with mine. Original only lasted about 2 years. Bought the smallest one I could find at an auto parts store and 8 years later it still looks almost new,

RE: Buying land for camping...

Every time I do this I get bored and start improving the property. Next thing I know I am building a house on the property. Now it's no longer a campsite so I sell and not being too smart I do it all over again. Does keep me out of trouble though. Even made a few bucks.

RE: First barrage with the dealer

Not sure about percent off but, we had to go to the Eugene Oregon Camping World Friday to purchase a part. The place was packed with people looking at new trailers and it looked like every sales office had someone in it. Talked to one of the clerks on the way out and she said it was just crazy. Every thing I have seen or read looks like they are not having to work all that hard to sell RV's so I suspect the deals are really not out there right now. If you want one I suspect you are just going to have to bite the bullet and pay up.

RE: Freedom elite toilet

The shroud is part of the toilet same cheapo installed in most any RV. Possibly one step higher than an all plastic one but then again I never had any problems with my plastic ones. My Aqua Magic Style Plus has had two catastrophic failures since I have owned it,

RE: Freedom elite toilet

The manufacturer's labels are often placed at the back of the toilet, near the ground. Get a mirror/flashlight and have a look at the back of the toilet near the ground. Just had my toilet out yesterday and that's where my label is. Only thing is on mine there is an outside shroud around the toilet that has to be removed in order to see it.

RE: Peeling out

Your clear coat finish is pealing off. Not an uncommon problem. I had mine re done last year.

RE: Problem with 50 amp cord

If not one leg on the breaker box then use a meter to verify correct voltages at pedestal. Once stayed at a campground that offered 50 amp but when metered only had voltage on one leg.
