RE: Deceptive traffic citations

I used to work with a former Maryland state trooper. He said that one day in court all of his tickets were dismissed for failure to have a speed limit sign posted within X numbers of feet . He went to carrying one in his trunk and propping it against his back bumper.

RE: Deceptive traffic citations

One Parish in La on I49 had about 75 yards of I49 running thru a corner of the Parish. Guess what that was the only place in that Parish that speeding occurred. The legislature had to address the problem. There was a small town near New Orleans that ran the town budget on income from the highway through town . The state clamped down on them and they have been in final trouble each year since then. That is the definition of speed traps.

RE: Deceptive traffic citations

Most tickets I have received were deserved. 2 I should have gotten but I was cut some slack. One I got I didn’t deserve. The only way it could have happened was a crooked trooper. It does happen more so than we would like to see.

RE: Cleaning electronic circuitry?

Canned air blasted with strong vacuum running near the object. Water is last resort. Alcohol would be preferable to water.

RE: Frame and tie down damage from unmarked speedbump.

It appears that it is part of the first speeding damage. Clearly you are driving too fast for the conditions or you don't have enough truck for the camper. Either way it's your problem not the public's. It's only normal to blame our problems on someone or something else.

RE: Freezer works, fridge does not.

The manuf. has gotten the tolerances so close that they don't cool. These refrigerators can work well for many years. The problem is that the manuf. has considered only making money. Go to a compressor retrofit.

RE: Monitoring Temp while away

We just added a hotspot to our shared data plan on Verizon. $10 per month and that's all. We use the hotspot to connect a camera (Nest) where we can see and hear the pet and watch a thermometer. That way we know the pet isn't disturbing the neighbors and is OK. Gives us peace of mind and protects the pet.

RE: Monitoring Temp while away

What happens when the campground wifi fails to work? We use a hotspot to get around that problem.

RE: News for Service Connected Vets

PX has always been that you had to shop. 1968 bought an electric razor on base. Went to local shopping center a few days later and found it for a few dollars cheaper. Cigarettes and electronics were always cheaper.

RE: GM Strike

The employees must be doing better than I thought. If they can afford to strike they are doing good. If they were in poor shape they would continue to work under the old contacts while negotiating the new. Both unions and management need to clean their acts. Management compensation is not commensurate with management contributions. GM and their workers lost my business years ago with their paint jobs on trucks that lasted until you drove off the lot, doors rusting thru quickly, AC units failing quickly, leaks in trunk. Took me a while to learn but never again.

RE: Towing with 4Runner

We towed a 19 ft Airstream that totaled about 4500lbs loaded. We didn't use load distribution bars as it was a 2012 and those hitches weren't rated for load dist. You would need to get a Lexus hitch to use load dist. We used only sway control. It performed good and had a fair amount of power for a 6 cyl. We towed only east of the Mississippi.

RE: Social Security and Mailing Address flagged as Commercial

Social Security has teleservice centers located in major population centers from east to west coast. They have several hundred employees in each location. They take and process applications for benefits and process post entitlement actions. When you call SSA via the toll free number this is who you get. I got this from someone with 38 years experience with the SSA. Most business can be handed by phone. They will tell you when a in office visit is necessary.
