RE: Dino juice v Electrons....

Roughly $40 difference in fuel cost. Hu???:h :h They both went 86 miles. Correct? The EV was essentially out of juice. Correct? It cost $27 dollars to "fill" the Lightning. Correct? The Chevy got a hair less than 9 miles/ gallon. Correct? They paid $4.80 a gallon for gas. Correct? To go 86 miles the Chevy used 9.5 gallons of gas. Correct? 9.5 gallons of gas at 4.80= $46 bucks. (all numbers rounded) The Lighting took $27 bucks to go the same distance. So $27 bucks from 46 bucks= $19 bucks. Correct? Not even close to $40 bucks. Correct? :) Don't worry, Yosemite Sam will probably be by shortly to justify the common core math that bgum is doing.... You failed to notice the EV didn't tow but half way home as he stopped to drop off trailer. This explains difference. Details Details pay attention to the details.

RE: RV Production - Fuel prices - Bubble ready to burst?

The market has softened. Fuel prices is only a contributing factor.

RE: Lack of RV Parks... Jimmy Buffet to the rescue!

At least someone is building RV parks. We rode through the Pigeon Forge park in May and it is finished. Nice but expensive. Great location.

RE: Portable 12k BTU Installed In Toy Hauler

Please describe what you are doing with the condensation. I have a portable but it is rarely used and have never hooked anything to the AC other than the large hose. It does have a small 1/2 inch fitting with a cap on the end.

RE: Everybody must get stoned, rock on...

A couple 6 x 6 timbers cut in 1/2 would also have made a nice set of steps. Of course your way only cost a little more effort. Nice project.

RE: Honda EU3200i

Looks good and they are trying to hit the sweet spot. It is fuel injected but appears somewhat hard on gas.

RE: Are there any snowbird RV parks in New Mexico?

Are you limiting your search to the southwest? Lots of great places along the gulf coast (other than Texas) if you head southeast rather than southwest. Yes but not so much if the OP is looking for a unified hard core left wing liberal hang out. N. Mexico is probably closer to that but weather can get cold even in the south part of the state. And even then, I've found RVers tend to be more conservative in general, particularly retirees. Heck, they drive RVs with big 6-7liter engines. Even in S. Cal, we found it tends to be less hard core left wing liberal at the wintering RV parks. People generally find or see what they are looking. When the chips are down you will be amazed at how liberal the population is

RE: Tight turn across narrow culvert?

Is the problem that you are limited on width of drive by government law? If not limited just add additional colvert.

Fuel cost in your area

What is the price of fuel in your area and what is your general location. I am near Baton Rouge. It is 4.33 regular 5.37 diesel In my area.

RE: Campground availability on shorter notice

I don't think it is the price of fuel either. We went all the way to Boston and back before fuel increased with no reservations and no problems. I don't know what it is but it is noticeable.

RE: Campground availability on shorter notice

I had noticed that RV parks were not as busy as they have been in the recent past. As evidence of this we called a resort we have been going to for years and they had more than 6 sites available for October. This happens to be in an area where October is the high season. In the past we made reservations a year in advance due to high demand. When was the recent time you were having difficulty getting reservations? Yeah, peak times, it's always been difficult to get a site at a popular park but we spent 7 months wandering the south winter 20/21 and never had an issue getting a site. Heading out next month from Michigan for Montana over 2 months and don't expect any significant issues. Prior to the pandemic in the month of October reservations were necessary in the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee and every point in between. The same was true in many of our national parks. The fact that you don't expect any problems next month only supports my observations that people are camping less.

RE: Traveling via B&B/hotel vs RV

I have considered selling our truck and RV and traveling by car. We could sell both and purchase a really nice sports car to travel. I am not too enthusiastic about sleeping in a bed and on a pillow used by just anyone. We also like having our own bathroom with us as we travel. Costs either way is not a concern. The older we get the less we use our equipment and the more attractive the prospect becomes.

RE: Camping Safety

You folks should be aware that it is the danger of a stray bullet. The perps are mobile and they do not restrict themselves to their neighborhood. Also those little lead bullets do not halt at property lines. I have lived in Chicago, near Baltimore, and in Washington DC in the 60s and 70s. None were as dangerous as baton rouge is today. You can concoct all kinds of reasons to ignore the facts of life in America today but the facts speak for themselves.

RE: Camping Safety

Don't blame it on the media. My comments are based on nearby events. As to the facts: Baton Rouge population 227000 Crime index 2 (100 is safest) Chance of becoming victim of violent crime 1 in 108 Chance of becoming victim of property crime 1 in 21 3 times the national average in burglary, theft, and car theft 6 times the national average in murder 3 times national average in robbery Nearly 3 times national average in assault No my friends it is not the media's fault. It is society's fault. Maybe not in your area but at least in Baton Rouge the bodies are in fact piling up.

RE: Camping Safety

The bodies piling up seem to indicate that it is not safer today versus prior years. Nearly all communities have had cases where stray bullets have killed innocent people on the street or asleep in bed. The perps have moved out of their neighborhood to other neighborhoods and brought their violence with them. They are mobile. Drugs and gangs don't care who you are or where you are.

RE: Fireworks

Fireworks should be restricted to shows put on by the public body the night of fourth only. Children could then experience the event. There are many reasons to prohibit otherwise. We were experiencing a nice quiet evening when Dollywood decided to have their evening show. Kind of ruined the mountain experience. It could be heard more than a mile from their property. By the way the Thunder Blanket did help our dog get through some traumatic events.
