RE: 2006 Grayhawk Ford e450 v-10: Power increase

re: 5 Star Tune.. would like to hear from anyone who has installed it on a class c. I have it on mine. Really helped the transmission, firmer more positive shifts, and less gear hunting. It definitely has more power too, how much ? Negligible maybe, you won't necessarily feel it in the seat of your pants but once you get to a familiar hill or highway, you'll realize that yes it has more power. Mileage was improved maybe slightly, .5 mpg or so, but absolutely scoots up the hills better. A good tune will absolutely not decrease engine life, Mike @ 5-Star knows these coaches and has the tune dialed in. Personally , I doubt you'll regret it. Edit: Also, if you ever decide to upgrade the exhaust, air intake, etc, Mike can email you an updated tune to reflect the changes.

RE: 2006 Grayhawk Ford e450 v-10: Power increase

I have an 11-ton diesel that pulls Donner Summit in 12th gear and 75 mph. That said don't ask about price, near-insane amount of time and effort. My experience with exhaust headers is They char everything around them They leak Run the rig through a splat of cold water and snap-po a crack Triple jointed tools needed to change spark plugs Oh joy! A $130 set of Jacobs super-insulated spark plug wires is in your future Mouse milk improvement in power. jcobs I hear what you're saying, and you're old school. But, headers on a Ford V-10 are no where near the plugs and wires. The Banks headers and exhaust really wake the V-10 up (We installed a ton of them), but Bank's sure is proud of his products. Hard to swallow $2,500-$3,000 on headers and exhaust, plus installation, IMO.

RE: What is the hierarchy of Gulfstreams?

Here is a downloadable brochure for the 2004 Crescendo .... Click. Just going by the last page of the brochure, the Crescendo is the bottom in the Diesel lineup. Looks like it goes, Scenic Cruiser, Friendship G7, Atrium Yellowstone, then Crescendo. Not sure that matters or not though. Good Luck !

RE: Stabilizing a Class C

I installed Bigfoot Levelers on our 31' Winnebago C, Love Them ! Previously, without jacks my 14 year old son who sleeps in the over the cab bunk who rock the whole RV while turning over in his sleep. Now, it's quite solid. Obviously, the leggo blocks worked fine, but Bigfoot had a sale and I'm very happy I did them.

Any truck supply place. Nothing special or specific about them.

RE: Titan Cummins Diesel option axed for 2020

I think the XD is going to keep failing until Nissan finally stops telling truck buyers what they need and start giving them what they want. Nissan keeps saying that most "3/4 ton" HD truck buyers don't need that much capability or that much power. While this is true, but most HD truck buyers want the capability with full floating axles and the power of a big engine. This is why the big three are giving buyers both with bigger more powerful engines and and beefier truck components. Then again, this is not the first time a foreign truck make tried to tell the US truck market what it needs and then went the way of the dodo or had to finally give buyers what they wanted with a major redesign before they had any meaningful sales numbers. It also doesn't help that this truck has a front end that only a mother could love. Spot on. Every time any manufacturer told the public what they "need" has failed miserably.

RE: RV lifestyle...

Different strokes.. We pull in, hit the leveler button, hook up water/elec/sewer, open slide, always open the awning and set the picnic table under it and that's it, 10 minutes tops. The grill, chairs, etc come out as needed. Conversely, we have a relative we camp with bring everything that isn't bolted down at home and put it all out including toys, games, etc. I don't judge them, I just grab a beer and sit in one of their chairs and watch for the couple hours it takes them to set up.

RE: What is an F53 motorhome

As Nick said, F53 is the chassis built by Ford that many (All ??)gas RV builders use.Don't get too hung up on issues though, they're hundreds of thousands of them out there. So every time a class A has any kind of problem, of course it's and F53 chassis. The diesel pushers have a couple different chassis manufacturer's. But if you look at gas, this is what you get. RE: Dumping Tanks in an Empty Full Service Site

I don't see the problem. If you paid to use the campground, you paid to use the dump station. Whether you use an empty full hookup site or the dump station is immaterial unless you're blocking someone who paid for the site from pulling in. Ditto.

RE: Brake Issues & Tire Issues

Brakes, As some have said, make sure to check the rears are working properly. Also, (I'll probably get jumped on here for this :) ) but "Duralast" rotors are absolute junk. I'm surprised any professional shop uses parts from Autozone. They are the cheapest made parts available. Get some quality rotors, Like Raybestos, Wagner, etc. Personally, I run EBC pads (green)...but the Raybestos ones they used are good too.

RE: Best pool or campground waterpark in the Northeast?

Lake George Six Flags,The Great Escape & Hurricane Harbor. Several nice campgrounds, we like Lake George RV resort and Moosehillock. In fact we are meeting family from NH there next weekend. This year we are going a few miles away to Alpine Lakes campground, another nice one we've been to many times.

RE: RV Tank Maintenance

I've had very good luck with Dish Washer soap. It's made to break down grease...which helps clean the gunk off the sensors. However, I've always put it in with about 1/4-1/2 tank of water when traveling, no sure if it would work if you don't slosh it around. Good Luck !

RE: Gas TV for a year long trip

I've towed (race car) trailers gas and diesel for 25 years and all over the country. Personally, I wouldn't even consider a trip the miles and duration you're talking about without a diesel. The reasons are almost too numerous to list. Good luck whichever way you choose, sounds like one heck of an adventure.

RE: The Best Quality 200-Amp Solenoid I Have Yet Seen

Thanks for posting, I was going to do a thread asking this very question. I bought one last week on Amazon and it was DOA. I ended up repairing the original one that came in our RV from 2006 (this is the starter-boost one) for now.
