RE: Benefits of registration in SD

States are looking into this more and more. Actual residents of one state, claiming residence in another. Therefore fraudulently depriving true state of tax dollars. California seems to be the most often state to be cheated. They are also one of the most expensive states to own a RV. Inspectors are hired to check RV storage areas for out of state license plates, especially South Dakota. Huge fines and well as back taxes await those trying to cheat the State of California.

RE: Triple digit heat! Generator won't run

Reset and set the CBs. Check the voltage at the ATS to determine if you have gen power on the input and output. Really appreciate you knowledge and willingness to help. As someone that is not nearly as proficient as you, your abbreviations sometimes leaving me scratching my head. My problem not yours I know, but if you could maybe spell it out for those of us mechanically challenged it would be much appreciated. Again thanks for all your help over the years.

RE: Question for Class A owners.

If you go with a DP, highly recommend one with a side radiator. No only does it get less dirty on the side, but it is out of the way when repairs have to be made. If you have a rear radiator you have to remove it just to change a belt. Cost you $1000 just to change a belt in labor. Side radiator is the way to go.

RE: New Windshield SQUEAK

I had the same problem and came up with this high tech solution. I took a cardboard box, cut off a small piece, folded it in half and slid it between the the windshield and the post. No more squeak.

RE: Problem with Extended Warranty

Totally concur with Executive. Have had an exclusionary policy with WW for 2 years now and they have been great. The first claim I had the insurance company denied to pay for diagnostics. I called WW and they went to bat for me and got them to pay. Later talked to the insurance rep and he told me they had just started doing business with WW and I was the only policy owner they had that they covered diagnostics. So in this case it was the insurance company that did not read the small print. WW has been great for me, I highly recommend.

Have Samsung tv, with Dish Wally and Jamo receiver. Everything was working fine, then traveled cross country. Set back up and have no audio when using Dish. Have audio when watching DVD. Checked and rechecked connections. Any ideas?

RE: Extended warranties

If a major failure of a engine causing putting in a new or rebuild at 30-40 grand would bankrupt you or cause you to make years more payments on a coach you can’t use .. then a “warranty” may be a good idea. It’s like all insurance , you have it to cover major costs .. not minor maintenance items. I would guess 10 year old coach would be several thousand a YEAR. Call wholesale warranties who fairly brokers these .. you’ll get the straight info. IMO Exactly why I bought an extended warranty. I could handle one maybe two major problems, but more than that and I would be out of the Class A DP business. However, it has been nice to have it replace a tankless water heater, a roof A/C unit, a Whirlpool washer, a rear and side camera's and monitor, a radio/gps system. All that plus I still have coverage for a potential major breakdown.

RE: Extended warranties

After much research we purchased an extended warranty from Wholesale Warranties and have been very pleased with the results. As a previous person noted they are not cheap, but so far we are way ahead on an annual basis. Highly recommend an "exclusionary" policy where they list the things they don't cover ie, paint, tires, etc and everything else is covered. Also with this type of policy they also cover diagnostics. Not all policies do. Also request a "Consequential Loss". This is where if one item fails and causes damage to another item, it will cover that also. You have to request this, it is not part of regular policy, it's another $100, well worth it. Wholesale Warranties customer service has been excellent. Phone calls answered or returned promptly, approval of claims has been fast and easy. I have had a couple mechanics tell me they did not deal with warranty companies, until I told them Wholesale Warranties then they said ok, thats a good company. With a 7-10 year old coach a lot of the appliances can go at any time. It doesn't take long to pay for the warranty, plus you still have coverage if anything major like engine or transmission problems come along.

RE: Motorhome financing

You can have just as much fun in a pop-up camper as a Class A DP, especially if it's used for weekends and a 2 week vacation and still stay financially sound.

Jeep tours 2019 out west.

We will traveling out west this summer, from May until the end of October. We are looking for some Jeep tours/rallies that we might attend. We have a few things planned but are basically going to hang out in the S.D., Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho area. We tow a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Sahara behind our Newmar Dutch Star DP.

RE: Motorhome financing

To each their own, of course. My philosophy has always been, if you can't pay cash for a toy, and I consider a boat, sports car, airplane, motorcycle, RV, a toy, then I can't afford it. I am enjoying a wonderful retirement so far. Have a nice DP, am debt free and travel the country where ever we want to go.

RE: Key West suggestions other than Boyds

Try Geiger Key at mile maker 11. They have 35 sites and it is like the Old Florida Keys. $132 daily rate and $105 off season. They have a really great restaurant in the campgrounds and on the weekends live Island music. We've not stayed there but have eaten there. I'm sure I've seen dogs but you can call 305-296-3553 to be sure. Have stayed there once, the restaurant is the best part of the operation. Have a great Sunday specials. Not impressed with the campground. After reserving a spot for a week, we arrived to be told that the prices had gone up. If this is normal, we have never had this happen before. Also, and this might have been a temporary situation, not sure, but within an hour our dog was covered in fleas. What a hassle. Took weeks to get rid of them. Camp sites are small and it is basically a gravel lot with small lots. It is right on the water.

RE: Key West suggestions other than Boyds

We (2 motorhomes) are going to Key West in May. We were going to Boyd's until they told us our dog was not allowed. She is a sheppard MIX. We sent them a pic of her and they were kind of rude back stating that she was NOT ALLOWED!....That takes care of that, I'll never go there dog or no dog. Anyway, we are now looking for somewhere else that is nice, full hookups, fairly close to Key West and less than $150 a day. Any suggestions? Thanks! It's a liability issue, nothing personal. Insurance companies are the ones putting the restrictions on. I own a number of appartment buildings and there is a list of dogs that they will not cover. People get mad at us, when we tell them we cannot accept their dog. Sorry, nothing we can do. Again, not personal.
