RE: Sailun tires

Until Sailun fix theirs problem I stay away.I read that Hankook tire come with a trailer tire(TH31) and I don't hear no problem with them,Carlisle CSL16s another one.Stay away from Sailun I know from my experience that a blow tire(Goodyear 614) can make a lot of damage.

RE: Puck system & hitch questions

I'm moving from a LB GM to a Ford with 6.75' bed. The truck does not have factory installed puck system. I want to stick with a new B&W slider hitch (I don't think that a slider is required with my 2015 5th wheel's rounded nose, but want the option of using it). Will be pulling 12,300lbs. - Which puck system should I have the dealer install? - Can the Patriot slider easily handle 12.2k lbs? I know it is rated for 18k but has anyone heard of issues with it? ThanksDo you know you can install the pucks yourself just buy the parts. That what I did.

RE: MorRyde IS is finally happening

Curious what this costs? I had a spring break recently on a trip. It could have been substantially worse, but makes me worry now. I believe that the 7K IS system is now running AROUND $6500.00 ? I am sure someone who just purchased can correct me. the cost of NO MORE WORRIES -$ PRICELESS MY OPINION is that it is worth every penny on a RV that will be around, if your planning on getting rid of it in a couple years, probably not...$6500 I think that to much can somebody confirm the price ?

RE: MorRyde IS is finally happening

Dropped it off at the Elkhart factory today. Go back on Thursday to pick it up. Also getting disc brakes, pass through slide, and cord reel. I ain't right, taking a brand new trailer and having suspension replaced before even the 1st trip. Once we committed to purchase the trailer, the next call was to have IS installed. I scheduled the installation in mid January, and the soonest date available, 11/17!!! They are now booking into 2023!You will love it.

RE: Sailun Tires

Sailun did not develop its stellar reputation overnight. Much in the way a RV trailer puts added stress on a tow vehicle vs. most other family use trailers. RV tires should be held to a higher standard than a typical trailer tire. RV tires carry a very non aeroadynamic load. They are heavily stressed when parked in tight spots. Typically they carry a heavier load than most non professional trailers their size They are used 100's of miles away from home, often in remote areas. Using a no name off brand tire for a utility trailer or a locally used boat trailer does not require the same rigor and reliabilty required by an RV trailer. With that in mind I prefer the weight, additional capacity margin and stellar reputation of Sailun vs. the other off brand tires. Sure you could gamble with some other off brand RV tire, but why when there is a proven and tested tire available? Sailun its reputation speaks for itself.I agree Sailun WAS a very good trailer tire but with the relocation of the manufactures to Vietnam the reputation was going downhill fast.Goodyear 614 was a very bad tire when they start,I got 3 blow on them now they OK but the price is ridiculous high.
buc1980 11/14/21 07:23am Fifth-Wheels

Due to a dozen different reasons related to politically contrived supply chain problems, good manufacturers suddenly moving from china to vietnam so they can turn a good brand into a bad one, unavailability in my size, etc, etc, I chose a set of four new Carlisle CSL 16 tires in ST235/80R16. G Rated, 14 ply rated, 81 mph rated M, all steel body, and from what I read it is the highest load rated tire in the Carlisle RV trailer line. Sailuns, even before the vietnam issues, were 75 mph speed rated L, so LETS SAY the CSL 16's are TECHNICALLY BETTER just for giggles. Tomato tomatto. I'll be mounting them on a new set of Raceline RCL 935 B Defender TR wheels that are rated for lots of weight too because I apparently hate having money. My 5er has a GVWR of 15,500 and a GAWR each axle 7,000. Since I don't see much on the interwebinators about this tire, I'll post a review since I'll be putting 1,500 miles on them immediately. Hopefully the review will be "They're tires man. Why are we talking about tires so much?"Me too I am looking for a replacement of the Sailun I use for a long time.Carlisle CSL it is on my list together with Hankook Vantra TH31.I am looking forward to your review for the Carlisle after you put more mile on them.

RE: Sailun Tires

I see on Taskmaster website Providers come in a all steel ply carcass in a ST235/80 16" G @ 4080 lbs and a ST235/85-16" G @ 4400 lbs capacity only....and have 19/32nd tread depth. Thats a serious tire for haulers trailers. Should be good for 80k-90k miles per set.I don't heard about Taskmaster probably made in China it can be good but not to many reviews.

RE: New Tires Lighten my Wallet

If want to hear about Salun's my last set of 637's lasted 8 years. I am now on my 2nd set. I hear you guys touting Goodyear Endurance but what about the venerable GY G614. Don't hear much about them anymore since Sailun entered the market. Hey you never hear me criticize the Sailun tires as all I have ever said I am not a fan of buying Chinese tires when US Made are available. Remember all I got a few years ago was "ENDURANCE has not been out long enough" See below this coming January 30th they will have been on the market for 5 years, now all people can say to criticize them is the tread is too thin. Around 07 the 16" GY "G" had some issues. Since they have been a good choice. The 17.5" GY "H" have been good overall. I will admit I have had a few issues that were taken care of with new tires. If these have the same Issue I will look elsewhere, probably the GY Commercial 17.5" Kmax. AKRON, Ohio, Jan. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- For years, hobbyists who tow boats, jet skis and snowmobiles to recreational destinations have asked for an American-manufactured trailer tire to help carry their cargo with confidence. Millions of workers who haul equipment from job to job have echoed that desire. The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (NASDAQ: GT) has answered that call with the new Endurance trailer tire, which was unveiled this week during Goodyear's 2017 Customer Conference in Orlando, Fla.Endurance are not a load G tire.

RE: Raising our 5er

Take the entire set up to Sergio at Morryde and have them put the IS on ! They will make sure your truck and trailer are 100% level before leaving.. AND you will have arguably the best suspension on that fiver....Sergio is still there? He work on my FW in 2018.

RE: New Full Body Paint Job

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. We really are proud of it and appreciate all of the support that we receive on this forum. I just got the tires/rims back from polishing yesterday. I also spoke with a very nice person at HiSpec wheels about the unique hubcaps on them. He confirmed that they too were HiSpec and so I ordered four new ones to replace the fading/cracking chrome ones that are on there ($21/each). We should be good to go for 10 more years! I even bought a new truck just to pull this beast! Will post pictures of our travels to the Tetons and Durango in the next few weeks. ScottThe trailer is so shiny that the light reflect in so the picture don't show the thru color.
