RE: Getting an error

I changed my connection to TL because of this nonsense. At the mods suggestion. Now it's back to saying RV.Net and the error message pops up constantly. I fully realize that this is free, but so are millions of other web sites that are not so screwed up but never fixed.

New campground KOA Currituck NC

Was on the Outer Banks of NC yesterday and decided to check out the new KOA in Currituck. They are advertised as Outer Banks West/KOA Currituck. I heard about them at the Raleigh RV show. Full blown booth all yellowed up and acting like they were open and ready to go. First of all Currituck is not on the outer banks of NC. A 20 minute boat ride or a 45 minute drive will get you there. barely. We get there to find a closed gate staring at us. It also states construction traffic only and next to the gate is a sign identifying it as some other name campground. It's also miles down a road off of 158 almost at the VA line. DW calls the number on the construction sign and is told opening is mid summer of 2020. Very polite and puts us on the email blast list for when they do get open. In their defense their website has disclaimers about not being open, but the site does not have that information.

RE: 5th wheel suspension question

Thanks for the input. I found the shocks on Amazon and I ordered them. I figure Jayco wouldn't have spent the money to install them originally if they didn't have a benefit. I found 2 Monroe shocks for RVs, PNs 555001 and 555025. Some kits are also available as bolt ons. The 555001 is 8" compressed and 12" extended which are what I needed. We have been racking up the miles since we retired and I'm not sure when the equalizer broke and took out the other one with it. Luckily they stayed together up in the bracket. The original springs were flat as well. On a little short trip back in April I noticed the tires were moving in and out of the wheel wells slightly on turns. I used to check the tires in the mirror on every curve but now with the pressure monitors I got lax. Don't be that guy. I should have caught the problem much earlier. Thank goodness we didn't make any emergency movements after they broke. That would have been a horrifying crash. 12 year old 5er. Parts total will be around $400, the labor is mine.

5th wheel suspension question

I'm in the process of replacing the suspension system on a 2007 Jayco 38 footer due to broken equalizers and flat springs. Thanks Interstate Hwy System and it's current condition. It had 4 dinky shock absorbers running from a bracket welded to the frame down to the bracket that the ubolts go thru to anchor the axle in place. Should I even bother trying to find replacements anywhere? I had to cut them off they were so rusted. With 9k lbs on the axles I would be surprised if they ever did any good. Your opinions or facts welcome.

RE: Nascar Follies

Why do I remember that they announced Sat night that the race would be at 10:00 AM Sunday morning? They could have run it on NBCSN and gotten it in instead of the debacle it became. A real race fan wouldn't have been watching soccer anyway. I feel sorry for the fans that were game enough to hang in there just to come away with nothing. For many it may have been the only race they could ever afford to attend. Boyer had the race if he just waited one more second to dive bomb Austin.

RE: Purchasing a camp site in Georgia

I can think of lots of reasons to buy a lot. From Indiana to Georgia? No brainer. To be near family? No brainer. Love the beach/lakes and/or fishing? No brainer. Ready to retire on lower income? No brainer. With everybody on the planet buying RVs during the latest craze it is getting harder and harder to get spots when and where you want them. I'd buy a lot in FL if only to establish domicile and avoid the BS state park roulette and the 3 month minimum rentals in private RV parks during the winter. I found a nice one in Bluewater RV Resort in the keys for sale. Just at a million USDs :E

RE: Just waiting to use this

This isn't a therapy group. Sometimes you just have to say stuff.

RE: I asked for trouble and I got it.

Stainless brake and fuel lines are readily available in the aftermarket.

RE: I asked for trouble and I got it.

Yes, there will be a warning. It's called a fire. If you haven't had the brake lines replaced yet I'm wondering if the shop doesn't know the difference between fuel and brake lines. The fuel pump sending units were known to rust at the top of the tank, but I've never seen fuel lines in that model rusting before brake lines. Your own eyes or a buddy are your best next move.

RE: Nascar Follies

I would have liked to see the outcome yesterday if Kyle had pitted with Truex.

RE: Wow! Dealer Comments!

Fix pay plans and you fix the problem. This nonsense has been going on since the Model T when commission based pay plans are used. I was chatting with a multi store GM dealer in his open door office when a customer came in and thanked him for saving $3k playing 2 of his stores against each other. He was POd but didn't fix the problem.

RE: How early is too early?

Wal*Mart has pretty effective white noise machines for less than $20 that have multiple natural sounds that you can pick from. Never buy one of the first houses in a neighborhood. They tend to build every other lot at first so it looks so grand. Then they plop one down right next door. You need to get another RV so you can get away when you want to.

RE: Damaged RV on roads on way home from Florida, anyone else?.

The 2 worst roads in our recent retired travels; I95 southbound in SC southern end of the state. I10 eastbound from El Paso to the Louisiana border. WB probably just as bad. I'm thinking of switching over to secondary roads. Our last big trip broke springs. I pity the soldiers spines if the interstate hwy system is ever used for what it was intended.

RE: RV-Dump parking sloping the wrong way

It may be done to keep the rain water and runoff out of the septic and leach system. If the slope was towards the dump, the system would take on extra water. Just a thought. Winner winner chicken dinner!

RE: Parking at Walmart

We don't sleep at Wal*Marts anymore as we no longer have to cover huge distances in a short time. We may have done it 5 times. The lot sweeper comment made me laugh, they love doing that. 2AM skateboarder with metal wheels in Harrisburg PA did not make me laugh. The Lumberton NC WM is just plain scary. The common fact with WM is that there is no point in looking for the manager. They are like Bigfoot.

RE: Nascar Follies

Monday at Michigan and Truex is always the same little whiny boy. I'm pretty sure that with their history he would have wrecked Logano if he could have gotten to him. He couldn't so he accuses him of jumping the restart in overtime. He is a great driver so just drive. I wonder what Coach thinks about it all.
