RE: Nascar Follies

I saw an interview with Marcus Smith about the dirt race and some of the underpinnings needed. He's a very smart guy and knows that what's good for NASCAR isn't necessarily good for their tracks and vice versa. I didn't realize that Bruton was still living at 94 or that he started the Sonic Dealer group and is still on the board.
Watch Humpy on YouTube voice many of the same views. Humpy said NASCAR bulldozed him many a time when Bill France Jr. was running it.

RE: GM announces their Electric Silverado half ton.

We have 2 cars and a RV dedicated dually. An EV would certainly work for us just in our grand baby 100 mile round trip circle. We would use one of the others for long distance.
EVs are coming fast, there is no doubt of that. We might as well accept it, they aren't going away.

I leave it hanging on the 5er in the rare instance I need the truck for something else.

RE: Good Deterrent Against Home Burglars

Mr. Ed you just tickled a memory. My Grandfather and Uncle ran the family farm. Grew corn and tobacco (back when allotments were still in place) and raised hogs.
Every Saturday when we were there we rode in the back of the pick up to pick up the stale pastry for the hogs. On the way home we rode on top of the pastry. Evidently we were the ones he was fattening up haha.
Back in those days they herded the hogs once a year up a wooden ramp into a livestock truck and off they went to slaughter. Once I got to be about 10 or 12 they let me help. You don't ever want to get cornered up against barbed wire by a 500 lb hog that has survived a few round ups and wants to survive that one too. I got cut up getting over the fence but I went and got the cattle prod and run her up into the truck.
I don't know what wood those ramps were made out of but you still see them everywhere.

The route isn't as important as the timing.

It was interesting, but a goat rope at the same time. At least they tried something different.

This isn't going to end smoothly for the Cup cars either.

RE: Crushed F-150

Is the Ford crowd always this sensitive? Wasn't it a Ford hanging off that bridge by the safety chains on the TT? That was pretty impressive. Every situation is different is all I'm saying.

Nashvegas haha I like it. The big difference is that when you leave Nashville TN you have some money left over.

RE: Changing flat tires?

We've been lucky so far. Have only had one flat on the RV in 20 years or so. The one we had was in a bad place on US 58 in VA with a 2 foot wide shoulder and a ravine. First thing I did was call the State Police non 911 number and ask for a block. They transferred me to the local Sheriff dispatcher and I had the block not 5 minutes later. So a shout out to Suffolk VA for the great department they have.
I found a Discount Tire store about 30 miles up the road and bought 2 new tires. TPMS did alert but it was too late, whatever I hit sliced the tire good.
This was a very new to us 5er at the time. I found out that the spare on the road side would not come out the access door on that side, I had to crawl thru from the door side to get it out. Something to check on some 5ers with the spare in the storage area.
Also this 5er has the axles mounted under the axles whereas the former Jayco had the axles mounted above the springs. Make sure if you use a ramp it will get the flat off the ground. I had to use leveling boards to make that happen.
Like someone else said, practice in your driveway. My ramp worked great on the Jayco when I was doing brake/bearing maintenance.

Looks to me like it's still on the hitch and legs up. I guess he could have raised it back up and then backed back under it to try to make it home. Aluminum bed?

RE: Taking I-10 to Jacksonville FL Looking for a layover spot

Hanna is nice but there are several RV parks along I10 just west of Jax with pull thru sites that would be easier. By mid morning the rush would be over. The snowbirds are all gone by now for the most part as well.
