RE: First tow with new 2019 Ram 3500 and ...disappointed.

The specs on that unit show a 2200 lb pin weight. That should be plenty. I'm thinking nose high.

RE: Is camping Fun Anymore

We were at Myrtle Beach State Park this month for 5 nights. It may as well been spring break. Golf carts round and round, Segways almost running over the dog, people right on top of each other on the beach, just on and on. Everybody has cabin fever, and everybody is buying a RV. In exchange for the show, I'm happy to help if asked.

RE: How to price a used fifth wheel.

How could all of that happen since 2011? Just give it to him, but haul it wherever he wants it or it will sit at your house forever.

RE: Is anyone towing with a Chevy/GMC 1/2 ton 3.0L Diesel?

The first of the coveted 7.3 powerstrokes where 250hp and 500ft lbs through a 4 speed auto. 24V Cummins was 235hp and 420ft lbs with a 4 speed auto. 12V Cummins had even less power. 3.0 Duramax is 277hp and 460ft lbs with a 10 speed auto. I think it will do just fine. The chassis may not be a replacement for a 3/4-1ton, but the engine will do the job. Beat me to it. The BabyMax engine should be far lighter as well.

RE: Nascar Follies

And probably 450 of them not working, and 49 of them with a grainy video, and the other 1 pointed the wrong way. Looks like enough of them were working to figure out that that thing had been there at least since Oct 2019. I love overtime finishes when they make the white flag under green. It is ON from that point. No big one though.

RE: Frozen Dump Valves

Cut a flap but make sure you make the "hinge" towards the front of the unit. When was the last time that rear set of tanks was used? Maybe spray some penetrate where the cable attaches to the valve and the handle and let it sit.

Fridge sounded like it was blowing up

We got home from a trip yesterday evening with temps on the 90s and full sun on the fridge side all the way. While unloading the camper I heard a noise like the fridge was in final launch count down. Now I know why some fridges have 2 access panels. There is a cheap cooling fan in the upper one as there can't be a vent when the fridge is on the slide. Just got this 1/1/2020 after retiring our older 5er and FL this past winter wasn't hot enough to trigger it. Anyway, there are cheap dual fan set ups available online that will cure the racket. I'm glad it didn't set off while we were sleeping one night. Easy fix if it happens to you.

RE: name of a valve I need to replace

The factory ones are really a cheap product very prone to freeze leaks and breakage when installing a new one. Find a 1/2 barb 3 way valve made out of brass, you'll be better off. If you want the factory one see the link below. valve

RE: Traveling partner

I think a go fund me page is the safest bet. You don't want some stranger snoring all night or worse yet waking up dead in a ditch.

RE: Nascar Follies

I guess the idiot in Talledega doesn't know about the 500 cameras in the garage area. They are there to keep cheaters under control.

RE: Are campgrounds more crowded or is it just me?

After weeks of trying to get a reservation at a state park in the Keys for next May, I finally got into Curry Hammock. Fortunately, we are flexible with our dates. It’s aggravating to see 8 spots open at a state park and at 8 am when you can reserve, all 8 are taken by 8:01 am. Actually they are taken by 8:00:01 AM. There are folks out there running bots or having 15 of their friends on laptops all hitting the button the split second the window opens. Florida is constantly trying to keep it honest but it's a losing battle. Friends that travel with us in the winter months are on their own from now on. Near impossible to get 1 site much less 2.

RE: Just wondering

This is all funny. I was just busting on Cummins12V98 because once again the original thread had been closed. He even called it. Boater wise I've been in for about 20 years with stern drives, outboards, cuddys, and bow riders. I never bet on a boat restarting unless there are plenty of other boaters around just in case. And certainly not in 5 foot seas.

RE: Traveling partner

I hope you've booked it already. Campgrounds are stupid busy now with trains, planes, buses, and cruise ships out of the picture.

RE: Do most parks check/copy your ID? (Victims of ID theft)

People still write checks? You're just asking for trouble. Yes. They were usually in front of me in the grocery store. They would then wait until everything was bagged and in the cart before starting to look for the checkbook in the 25 lb 44 qt purse they had on a hand truck. Once found they would ask the cashier for a pen. .Asking for ID was another 10 minutes. In retirement it was more fun to watch. Walmart pickup is awesome.

RE: Okay How many RV'ers here use CB-Radio's?

I found my SWR meter when we moved a few years ago. Does that count? Apps on modern phones have replaced everything I can think of about navigation. Waze and Google maps will take you the best way without you even realizing that it just took you around a washed out bridge or a huge wreck. I get a kick out of 2 way radios being used to back in when both parties have a $800 phone in their respective pockets and the unit has a backup camera.

Just wondering

So you're out on your boat in 5 foot seas. Why would you want to shut off your engine?

RE: Nascar Follies

I wonder if the drivers even notice that there are no fans in the stands while they are racing. Also it's a capital B in this context. :D

RE: Ghost Story

My ghost was the former owner of the place I worked at the time. He and the only son did not get along at all, to the point the son had to buy the business from his Dad's estate at market price. I often got there well before dawn in the winter months and had to walk thru the dark warehouse to turn off the alarm. My scalp tingled one morning and as I turned around the Colonel as he was called was checking me out before he rose thru the decking to the upper level and disappeared. I'm talking goose bumps, really big ones. I no longer doubt ghost stories.

RE: Best Wheel Chocks

Get rubber, they won't slide on concrete or asphalt like the plastic ones do.
