RE: Roof Repair - Lance Aluminum Roof

I've used JB weld for years on my Lance 815 roof for those small punctures, never a problem and easy to use.

RE: Trip Report -- WA to Northern BC and Back

emcvay, very nice trip report and I did watched your videos with interest. It's a wonderful thing when one can go down memory lane and see the physical past. Barkerville will be a stop on our next journey up north. Make sure you sent a PM to koldad with your TCTR link so it can be archive with all the other TCTR. Also what can you tell me about Bella Coola?

RE: Dawson city

Dawson City isn't that friendly for dogs anymore. Funny how this is mentioned - I always got a kick out of the locals allowing their dogs run a muck all over town unsupervised and unrestrained wandering around on their own....I would guess this is probably why Dawson would not be dog friendly now if they had ongoing problems pertaining to this. I would see a few fox always sneak into town between the hours of 300am to 430am wondering around as they know the least activity time for humans and dogs.... My dog used to think she owned Dawson every time she visited there as I had to keep her restrained during daytime hours the majority of the time because of all the loose dogs she wanted to bully as I tell her they live here - you don't. Hi AKsilvereagle, by the time we were there Dawson City had to crack down because of all the dogs running through out the town got out of hand. We'll be making another journey up your way, maybe we can meet.

RE: Pop up camper vs hard sided camper

joerg68 pretty well said it, those reasons listed are the main ones way we went with a hardside in 2002. Our 2002 Lance 815 has been on all 3/4 ton SRW truck (only one exception a 1/2 ton), even with a pop up you'll see many TCer's carrying them on 3/4 ton truck and of course you still have that canvass strip that's not very heat or cold proof. The exception to the pop-up camper would be campers made by Alaskan Campers, a hardside pop-up I would also suggest you read the Truck Camper Trip Reports 3.0.

RE: Time for new batteries.

Starting the web search/comparisons. I am in need of two new batteries. My T.C. is a '13 N.L.with 2 batt. Boxes. Boxes are L 13.5" x W 8" H x 12". These are rounded at top and bottom and are 14" H but have a lot of studs/connectors which might limit me to 12"H. Curious if any other N.L. owners have taken out the wall between the boxes for more room ? If you did what's entailed in opening the space up. Very handy so not afraid to tackle. This might open up the 6 volt route. What batteries are keeping you happy ? I dry camp 25-30 nights a year, usually for 3-4 days at a time. TIA, K Mac check this article out from..Truck Camper Adventure about battery install in their North Star, it may help you.

RE: Dawson city

Stayed at Gold Rush as well in 2018, Drew E described it well, owner are nice, if you have a bath in your rig use it showers there cost coin. If you don't need a hook ups go up Dome Road to the top it's a good spot for the night and viewing the valley below. If you have a dog (s) Dawson City isn't that friendly for dogs anymore. Good wifi at the visitor center.

RE: Lance window replacement

I have been looking for a Lance 1181 or 1191 (2008-2014) with Radius Torque (crank out) windows, but they are rare as hen's teeth. Especially in the southeast. Has anyone changed out the windows in one of these models, or at least checked into a change out? Dale Give these people a try Arizona RV Salvage

RE: Denali Hwy vs Fairbanks?

Instead of going through Fairbanks, I was contemplating turning south at Delta Junction on A4 then taking the Denali Highway AK-8 over to A3 before heading south to Anchorage. Will still make the 30 mile jaunt from A3/AK-8 junction north to Denali Visitor Center. The thought is we would enjoy the scenery along the Denali Highway more than Fairbanks. Or do you think there is enough to see in/around Fairbanks to go that direction? If you decide on the Old Denali road there's a great bood docking spot near MM49. https://photos.smugmug.com/Travel/2015-Summer-Journey-5/i-WKt2GQh/0/53310061/L/Summer%20Journery%2029%20043-1-L.jpg

RE: how to remove lance 815 skirts

I am looking at a used Lance 815 to buy. It is set up for a short bed truck, I have a long bed. It is a few hours away from me, so I have not been to look at it yet. Anyone know how to remove the skirts on the rear so it will fit on a long bed truck? Is it difficult? Thanks! What year is the Lance 815 and what year is you truck and model. I bought my Lance 815 back in 2002, you'll find it's camper that can and does very well in off road conditions. Mine rides on a 2007 F250 and is on a 3 inch platform to have good clearance over the cab. Remove those pods before loading your camper and have a back spacer to keep the tail end of the camper from touching your tail lights.

RE: loosing old members

One of the things I'd liked about the TC forum is the trip reports. This makes the TC forum unique on RV.net that TCTR are maintain for all to read, but sadly few new ones have been post recently. As to why, it could be as simple as changing times, people moving on to other endeavors.

RE: 2020 Ford F350 - XLT or Lariat / options guidance?

I'll only talk about one item that is a MUST if your hauling a TC no matter how light it is, get the camper package if you go through the Ford warranty book you'll find without it Ford could/will void your truck warranty.

RE: Attaching a solar panel

What product that is in tape form is used to attach a panel to a metal roof? No screws no holes. Bill Your going to need screws like it or not. I wouldn't trust tape for holding solar panels to the roof. I've used butyl tape and Proflext Geocell sealant for years to seal screws that I've use to fasten items to my Lance 815 metal roof.
