RE: Slide out question

Does the slide sit square in the opening, similar clearance, when looking behind the rubber wipers?
I needed to move my whole slide toward the front of trailer 1/2 inch, to better fit, be closer to same on both sides.
It used to, its not now, that why I am needing to adjust it!

RE: Slide out question

Ok, UPDATE!!
So I brought the slide in and it looks like it is going straight but like I said it is slightly off, so when it is almost all the way in it binds then pops in on the passive side. It goes smooth till that point and doesn't make any noise but it isn't right!
Lippert told me I need disengage the gear pack for that side to realign it. So I guess I need to cut open the underbelly to do this. I also have no idea how far under/inside the underbelly it goes.
Any ideas??
FYI....I counted the teeth showing on both sides. Passive side has 115 showing, other side has 118.5 showing.

RE: Slide out question

My Lippert slide has 2 motors that can get out of sync and the way to synchronize them is to hold the slide switch in until both sides of the slide are fully closed. These 2 motors are at the top of vertical drive screws mounted on the stationary wall on each side of the slide. The vertical drive screws connect to aluminum rails with teeth on each side of the slideout. It would be easy to count the teeth showing on each side. There is also a controller PC board that flashes codes when queried. Mine is nearly unreachable behind kitchen drawers which must be removed to access it. In the 10 years I've had this trailer it has never gotten out of sync but I always hold the slide switch for a couple of seconds after the slide is all the way closed.
Perhaps your Lance is totally different
Thanks for trying to help but I am not talking about the schwintek slide. Also,I don't have a Lance :)

RE: Slide out question

Ok, another thought since so far Jayco has no answers and haven't heard from Lippert yet.
I'm still thinking it jumped a couple of teeth. It's just the passive side that needs a small adjustment. Do you guys think just adjusting that side would be ok? The teeth wouldn't match on the 2 rails but the slide would be straight.

RE: Slide out question

I only moved it once since I noticed the issue, and only retracted it maybe half way then extended it. I think they moved at the same time. There was no noise or binding, moved smoothly.

RE: Slide out question

Yeah I hear ya. I have contacted Jayco and lippert. I just need to find out now how to adjust that far side rail. I'm pretty sure it skipped a tooth or 2. It only needs to adjust about 1/2" or so.

RE: Slide out question

Nothing looks disturbed. The side further from the adjuster is the side that needs to come out slightly to fix this.
I'm guessing the rail needs to be adjusted. The gear motor is on the opposite side of the side that needs adjusting. If I disengage the gear will that also allow the other side to move? Hope this makes sense.

RE: Slide out question

This is a new issue, never had a gap before. No mobile guys in this area.
Still hoping to find out how to tell the difference between skipped teeth or adjustment.
Adjustment isn't hard to do, just don't want to do it till I know its not skipped teeth.

RE: Slide out question

Can you visually see if there is damage to the teeth? If it is skipping teeth, it will be out of adjustment.
Does it fit properly when fully closed? Does it seem square when fully open?
If electric rack & pinion operated, they are normally dependable, and not hard for an experienced person to adjust.
Jerry
What parts I can see there is no damage. I have not closed it all the way yet. There is a gap inside on one side. I measured outside and the slide is off by about 1/2".
Seems the seal stuck to slide when extending then continued out. So I dont know if it just got pulled out of alignment or skipped some teeth.
I dont know how to figure this out!

Slide out question

How can you tell if the slide skipped a few teeth or it's just out of adjustment?
This is an electric thru the frame lippert slide out.
Thanks!!

Black Tank Valve

So my trailer has an enclosed and insulated underbelly. My black tank handle which is up at the front of the trailer in the wetbay, has a cable that goes back to the black tank valve which is in the middle of the trailer.
I am guessing the valve is stuck? I cannot push or pull the handle at all. I believe the valve is partially open since it seems to drain, just not sure how much it is draining. I am able to turn the exposed rod/handle, that's why I believe it's the valve.
Has anybody here had to cut open the bottom and insulation to get to the valve? And how do you replace it if it has a cable that runs to the front of the trailer?
I'm at a loss as to what to do!
