RE: St. Louis to Central FL

We did this trip last fall, and opted to bypass the Atlanta/Chattanooga route. We took I-64 from St. Louis and got onto I-57 at Mt. Vernon, IL. At Marion, IL, we got on I-24 and took it all the way to Nashville, TN. We hit I-65 at Nashville down to Montgomery, AL. From Montgomery we took US highway 231 down to I-10 in the Florida panhandle. Then across I-10 to connect with I-75 at Lake City, and down south to central Florida. Highway 231 is a 4 lane divided highway, but is not controlled access like interstates. It was a nice ride all the way down.

RE: Sometimes we win... Newest National Park

We look forward to visiting! I just hope we don't get a flat tire on the RV from running over flying saucer debris. Or is that a different place?

RE: Sarasota Fl. to Branson Mo. campsite suggestions.

When you make your reservations for Gunter Hill, be sure to choose a site in the Catoma loop. Those sites are really nice with full hookups, much better in every way than the Antioch loop and well worth the extra couple of bucks. If you like COE parks, you may want to consider Eastbank COE near Bainbridge, GA. There's not a lot to see around there, though, so you might think about just doing one day in GA, and save your 2 day stop for the Memphis area. Tom Sawyer campground is nice, but another alternative is the Hernando Point COE just south of Memphis in Hernando, MS. The sites there are pretty wide, but not real long.

RE: Cost of dental work on a small dog?

We've had a lot of dogs over the years (and still have multiple), and as we travel around the country we've found a huge difference in canine dental costs from state to state. Lows from about $200 in GA to well over $600 in FL.

RE: Windshield Shades

We've been using our MagneShade for about 3 years, and still love it. It really cuts down on the inside temperature when the sun is blazing, and it's so easy to to put up and take down.

RE: Elon tease -- Tesla pick will look like military vehicle

It looks more like the Ark II than a military vehicle.

RE: Stink Bugs

A squirt of soapy water will disable them. Or, catch them in some tissue and flush down the toilet.

RE: Black & Grey tank readings

RV tank sensors usually work if the tanks are clean, unless there is a malfunction between the sensor and the display. We just had our tanks cleaned by a dealer with the nationwide service company AllPro Water Flow. They used a pressure washer to spray the inside of the black and gray tanks. We haven't had any problems with the tank readings, but since our coach is now 5 years old, we figured it was time for a thorough cleaning. Comments above about the Dawn/Calgon and Happy Camper are spot on. Also, use lots of water in the toilet.

RE: Going from Direct TV to Dish Need information

Not all receivers will work with portable satellites. We have a Winegard Pathway X2 that we have been very pleased with. It will receive both the eastern and western arc satellites. The only receivers that are compatible with it are the 211Z and Wally. If you have a Hopper at your house, it won't work with any of the portable dome type satellite dishes. You would get the dish itself from a 3rd party, not Dish. (Places like Camping World, LazyDays, GeneralRV, etc., sell the dishes). If you need an additional receiver for your motorhome, you can buy it from one of those other places and register it with Dish Network. They will charge you an extra $7/mo to send a signal to that receiver. While you are traveling, you can call Dish customer service and change your service location so you can get the local channels for wherever you happen to be. You can change the local location as often as you want.

RE: Consumer Cellular - No Coverage?

As previously noted, CC uses AT&T and T-Mobile networks. Each phone has a sim card that only uses one or the other. My wife recently got a new i-phone, and she consistently could not get coverage when my Samsung did. It turned out that she had a sim card that used the T-Mobile network, where mine uses AT&T. After a visit to a Target store, she had an AT&T sim card installed. After that, she is now getting service. And, Consumer Cellular credited our account for the $10 we spent on the new sim card.

RE: What is your favorite COE CG in Georgia

We like Bald Ridge Creek on Lake Lanier in Cumming. It has several spaces big enough for the largest rigs on level concrete pads. Also close to shopping and dining, and close enough to Atlanta for doing the touristy stuff there.

RE: DISH Network: Which Dish?

I also use the pathway X2, and have been very pleased with it. I've got a Roadtrip Mission on the rooftop, but it only gets the western arc satellites, and gets nothing when trees are in the way. We use the the X2 in those situations, and can usually find someplace on the campsite to see 3 birds in either the eastern or western arcs. We use it with the 211z receiver.

State parks are usually pretty pet friendly.

We like site 26. Long, wide, level, and easy to back into.

RE: stop over North of Birmingham

We have stayed at Cullman campground in Cullman, AL. It was OK for a one night stopover. The sites were plenty long enough, but narrow. https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OWP0-5Oz8Zg/W7alcPzdzDI/AAAAAAAAZjM/CNtH3f4SKq4Mg6IU7PL8rDboJH-Lb2CfgCKgBGAs/s1600/IMG_20181004_181113.JPG width=800

RE: Trip Planner Gone for the Summer

I recreated all my GS trips on RV Trip Wizard. The look and feel is a lot like the GS trip planner, and it has a lot more RV parks in the database. I also like that the RVTW map is based on Google maps, and you can even zoom into street level on it.

RE: ? Instant Pot Questions

We have the original 6 qt and never use it. It takes up the same amount of space as if we had purchased the knockoff, but more space than a smaller unit. Before you buy one, decide if you really need it.
