RE: Got the insurance money but I can't I do this myself?

I ordered some J-wrap from a dealer at a pretty reasonable price. The dealer had the J-wrap shipped inside of a new 5th wheel they were having delivered so I didn't have to pay any shipping costs.

RE: Winter 2023

I winter in Texas. If interested in fishing I would concentrate on the Corpus Christi, Aransas Pass, Port Aransas and Rockport area. If you don't fish head another 165 miles south to the Mexico border area. McAllen, Weslaco etc.

RE: Cracked Propane fittings

Although my unit (2021 Forest River Heritage Glenn 338BAR) is not on the recall list I did notice that I had this problem and had it fixed under warranty.

RE: Bedroom door comes open during travel.

I most definitely had this problem with my bathroom door. It was bowed inward right where the latch was. As we were going down the road on our inaugural trip the door sprung open and the door handle hit the awning out button perfect! This allowed the awning to start coming out going down the road ripping a hole in a brand new awning.
What did I do about it? I reported it to Forest River and they replaced both the awning and door. I turned in 18 issues with our 5th wheel and Forest River approved 16 of the problems. The other 2 problems could have been caused by me (they weren't). I was very happy with what they fixed or replaced.

RE: Dumb mistake

And I wouldn't worry about it. If you were driving, then the majority of the rain blew over the bed of the truck. The 10 drops that went in it will be caught by your water filter.
Bill
I once drove in a heavy downpour for 30 minutes. In the back of my pickup truck I had an empty 5 gallon bucket except for the 2 wheel chocks in it. I was stunned when I looked inside the bucket and there was no water.

Own a new 21 model. Spent 5 months in it. Went to winterize it and decided it needed to be replaced.

RE: Can I submit my own warranty claim?

FR again. The week after I picked my new Heritage Glen up I drove to Texas for the remainder of the winter. After returning home and living in it for 3 months while we were having some work done in our home I took it back to the dealer and gave them a list of 18 concerns, problems and or issues I had with it. FR approved 16 of the issues and they have been resolved to my satisfaction. On the two issues they didn't approve it could have been something we did and I understand their view point. Both issues were very minor.

RE: Can I submit my own warranty claim?

If anybody has ever gotten a call to FR answered or returned please share it with us. One during the pandemic gets double points.
I bought a new FR in Feb of this year and had 3 different issues/concerns while on the road and they returned my calls all 3 times.

RE: Additional fuel carrying capacity on pickup

This one works for me.
Problem is it says 60 gallons, however the most I have ever been able to put in it is 53.5 gallons. This with the stock tank gets me about 80 gallons.

RE: Fuel tank recommendation.

I bought this one.
While it says 60 gallons it will only hold approximately 53.5 gallons.

RE: How many states has your dog been too?

My dog Kelly a Min-Pin died Apr 2020 at the age of 19.
She made it to Mexico along with 5 Canadian Provinces: Ontario (2), Quebec, New Burnswick, Nova Scotia & Prince Edward Island.
She never made it to Alaska, Hawaii, Wyoming, Delaware, South Carolina and Rhode Island. So she made it to 44 States.
She always knew when we were taking a trip in the 5th wheel. She would sit there and watch me make trip after trip taking stuff out to the truck but when I grabbed the wife's purse and her 2 liter of Pepsi Kelly would jump up and beat me to the door.
No matter where we went and how long we were gone, when we got within 2 miles of our home she knew we were back and would get so excited to be home.

You didn't say where in Arkansas you are headed.
Have you considered taking the ferry over to Bolivar Peninsula than on up to Beaumont?

RE: Ever hear of this camping company? Harvest Host

I've been a member for 7 years. No complaints. You can stay more than one night at some of the places if you ask politely. Every time I've asked they have said yes.
Usually you are in a beautiful setting as the lone camper.
If you want to get an ideal of what these places look like find a winery and drive in and look around. It might be a HH.
I love wine. Usually all they want you to do is try the wine which most of the time you can do for $3-$5 Most of the time that is the only requirement.
If I find a wine I or the wife likes we buy a bottle or two, sometimes 3 or 4 bottles. Two bottles of wine is still cheaper than a night of camping most places.

RE: GM and others shutting down production.

The Kentucky Speedway located in Sparta Kentucky probably has 5,000 Ford trucks just sitting there in their parking lot for over 6 months now.
Same thing at the Ford plant in Louisville Kentucky. Everywhere I look around here has Ford trucks just sitting now for 6 months or longer.

RE: Switching from Florida to Arizona or Texas

I've spent 2 winters in Corpus Christi but I prefer Rockport an area about 30 miles north of Corpus. Rockport is a very laid back community that I spent 8 winters in. I recommend Salt Water Flats
or perhaps Majestic Oaks, might even want to try Paradise Lagoons. I've stayed in all 3 of those places. Any of those places are only about 10 - 15 minutes from water.
I now spend the winters down in Weslaco, TX around 175 miles further south where the temperature averages 9 - 12 degrees warmer on most days. Problem with down there is you aren't close to water.
