RE: Stone Mountain park

I went in the mid 90's and really enjoyed it. Today it's a different environment and I might want to think twice before going again. BLM Stone Mountain

RE: Bar Harbor,Maine

I loved staying at Bar Harbor Campground. I believe we stayed there for 16 days. They don't take reservations! First come, first serve. They also don't take credit cards. Cash or checks only. Best part of staying was we had lobster delivered to our site 7 times. Believe it was $34.95 for 2 lobsters, 2 ears of corn and a pound of mussels. I believe this was in 2015 0r 16.

RE: Latest Info on Harvest Hosts & Boondockers Welcome

I am a member of both and have not received any information because of C-19. The ones that run HH emphasis they only want you to ask about staying for 1 night. However I have stayed multiple nights a couple of times and have never been turned down when asking. HH doesn't offer anything at most locations, I have only been offered water and wifi at a couple of places. BoondockersWelcome is more accommodating. Some offer water, electric, sewer hookups and even wifi. Some hosts offer it all for free and some expect payment. I've never had a bad experience staying at either place. Once you join it is easy to figure out where you can stay. The problem is a lot of the times there is nothing close to where you might want to spend the night.

RE: Southern Texas Campgrounds

About 20 miles to the east of what PawPaw_n_Gram posted and with a lot less people is this park Ranchero Village. It doesn't have the tennis court that you wanted but just about everything else one could want. I believe the rent went up $5 per month. We've spent the last 2 winters there and hope we are going back again this winter.

RE: Prophetstown SP or Patoka Lake Campground

I love to fish at Patoka Lake but it is probably my least favorite park to camp at. In my opionion they only have a few sites worth camping on. Even at that you can not hook up to water. Electric only, whereas Prophetstown has full hook ups.

RE: Coax connector 2011 Keystond Outback

Welcome to the forum. I own that unit. You should have 2 separate connectors on the outside. One is wired through the antenna and the other isn't.

RE: Long distance travel during the virus pandemic

Drove 1,400 miles last week without any problems. Weslaco, TX - Jeffersonville, IN Stopped at 3 private campgrounds. Normally when we made the trip we would see 25 - 50 or more RV's a day. This time first day we didn't see any. 2nd day 3 passed us heading south (all were new units) saw one unit heading north like us. 3rd day 5 passed us heading south (3 new units) and one passed us heading north. Went into to 2 truck stops hoping to get grilled hot dogs. No luck! They shut that area down.

RE: Corpus Christi/Rockport/North Padre

Currently you can not camp in the county or State Park. State park closed yesterday. I don't know if National Sea Shore is still open or not.

RE: US Closes Mexican and Canadian borders

1 The United States has reached mutual agreements with Canada and Mexico to restrict non-essential travel across our northern and southern borders. Here in Weslaco, TX 5 miles from the border they said that anyone with scheduled Dental work could go ahead and have it done.

RE: Made back into the US without a passport!

I had the same thing happen to me last year down here in Progreso also while having dental work done. Only I didn't have the wife's as a backup. I just showed him my driver's license and he ran it through the computer and said; "yep I see where you were just over here yesterday with your passport. Have a nice day."

RE: Mission Texas Weather

By the way I just looked at the 15 day weather forecast for both us and Fort Meyers and we have 10 days at 75 or higher vs your 5 days. You have 2 days where the lows are in the 40's and we don't have any predicted. I'm currently paying $540 a month whereas you are probably north of $1,000. Come on over.

RE: Mission Texas Weather

Currently in the Mission area (Weslaco) yes the winds can be strong at times, but they aren't constant. I got here around December 10 and I only know of one time that the winds blew hard enough to worry me. This is our 3rd year in the Valley and we'll be back again next year. By the way I live in the Louisville Ky area and while we were down here last year the winds were so strong back home that they blew my Grill over. So my point is the wind can blow anywhere.
