RE: How difficult to install new brake drums

Would replace the whole brake assembly or as someone suggested would be a good time to upgrade the axle .

RE: Leaving breakers in the camper on while away?

In theory, if the power is on and mice happen to chew through the wiring it would be possible for a short to occur and a fire might happen. That would be a win win, wouldn't have to deal with mice problems or wiring problems in my new replacement trailer.

RE: California Sierras - Yosemite etc - July 2021

The last time I was at Yosemite was 5 or 6 years ago on the motorcycle in the summer. I had the worst time ever. TOO MANY PEOPLE. I will never go there in the busy time ever again. I had a hard time even finding a small spot to park the motorcycle. Good luck. KENThe first time I seen Yosemite valley was in the dead of winter with hardly any people there in 1982. Went back the summer of 2003 I beleive and couldn't get out of there fast enough. Wall to wall people and traffic. Another option would be to find a private campground to park the trailer and drive in and hike making a day trip out of it.

Special offer RV magazine

Received a special offer for RV magazine today expiring 1-5-21 or 4 days ago. I wonder when my subscription to Trailer Life runs out? Will you still get 4 free issue of RV a year for replacement of the Good Sam magazine? Just curious. I like the article's of different destinations and what there is to do around the area.

RE: Grand Teton Campgrounds new reservation deal

Dislike reservations, then you have to be on a schedule. I gave up being on a schedule when I retired. I always manage to find a place to park the RV. I also try to go during the off season or shoulder season's (dislike crowds). I understand those with limited time on vacation having a place reserved for them. Try to let these working folks have the prime season, after all there paying my SS. LOL Might try Sturgis this spring, go to deadwood when it is dead and see the black hills and Mt Rushmore.

RE: Just got back fro the local bike shop

Amazon or Ebay could be a option.

RE: First Diesel trip in US 1930

I think that we all need to start thinking about flux-capacitors. Just imagine pulling up the local fast food joint and dumping all of their garbage into the fuel tank.I thought we did already with bio-Diesel

RE: Something I've not seen before.

The first picture clearly shows the trailer tipped over. It appears the person attempted to drive off the highway, and the trailer got over center, tipping over and tearing out the king pin.I beleive you may be correct, it would be interesting to get the real story instead of speculation. You can tell it was a heck of amount of stress to bend the top plate on the B&W hitch. My opinion is operator error whether intentional or accidental going off road into the ditch.

First Diesel trip in US 1930

This day in history 1930 Cummins put a Diesel in a Packard and drove from Indianapolis to New York Auto Show to prove it was reliable.

RE: Something I've not seen before.

Sure looks like that B & W held together.... The jaws are still closed with a PART of the kingpin still locked in , pinbox/kingpin failure ? Looks like it has Rhino Box stickers on the pinbox.... Lippert itemSay it ain't so a Lippert failure. We all know they only build quality. Yes I'm being sarcastic.

RE: Comparing New Tires for trailer

The Carlisle HD as long as their not the standard worthless Carlisle tires. As others have suggested I would go with a larger size 13" tire if you have room with the highest weight rating. It sucks to have a flat on the way to a camping trip.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

went to the doctor today and learned that I may never be able to drive again. My Parkinson is advanced so that it has impaired my ability to do any multi tasking required to drive. So come to see Sue and I and I will put you up on put RV site in the back yard. I have full hook up Water Sewer and a 30 amp service that can be converted to a 50 amp with the special cord I have. Come and stay as long as you like. I am going to sign off now wishing everyone a blessed day. BE sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.Sounds like the decision was made for you. Sorry to hear about the issues with your son. Try to stay positive and safe. A lot of friends have lost elders to covid recently.

RE: Busted!

Come to Tennessee like the thousands of New Yorkers moving here ASAP. Not being political. It’s just a fact of life. This state is exploding with folks from California and New York/ New Jersey. Not sure why, can’t put my finger on it. Thanks! Thanks for the invitation! I'm sure I would like it in Tennessee. Governor Cuomo has actually encouraged people who disagree with him about social issues to leave the state! Be careful, however. Immigrants from California and New York may bring ideas with them that could ruin the good life y'all have cultivated down there. One of my daughters and her family have relocated to NC, so if we're going anywhere it would probably be to NC. (But back to the topic at hand: I suspect there are communities in Tennessee that would tell me the same thing about where I can and can't park my trailer.) -SpeakNot just New York, people of Illinois want to succeed from Chicago. Different values in rule area's compared to large cities but the large cities have the numbers to pass the laws. Yes HOA'S are everywhere. Have family in the metroplex (DFW) that live in a HOA that ban pickups. Can you imagine banning pickups in Texas.

RE: Living in a Trailer

Thinking ahead a little....picture yourself recuperating from surgery such as hip or knee replacement and living in a small trailer. Would not be the most pleasant experience IMHO. You would not be able to do a lot of the things required in a TT such as getting down to drain tanks, change LP tanks, etc. Think about it. Been there done that (also done it on the boat). It actually works pretty well as everything is within close reach and on a single level (in the RV at least). The ability of the OP to stay close to family is actually a big bonus and they could handle a lot of the routine items for a week or two. I mean it only takes 5min to drain the tanks or flip the propane over.Add me to the list of recuperating in the TT from a broken ankle and it worked very well because everything was close. I received several offers from friends and family to drive me back home but decided to stay at my place on the lake. I also had a better support network. I leave my gray tank open and it takes a long time to fill a 20 gallon black tank. Summer so I used the A/C or fan so no propane to deal with.

RE: Maybe you can pick up cargo along your route...

If that is what you wish for retirement check into it. Colonel Sanders didn't start his franchise business until he was 65 years old.

RE: Living in a Trailer

All good advice. First I should have said I am 81 and my DW is 90, she has dementia and has had for over 5 years now. I am putting the Aliner up for sale as it is for camping only and would be really tiny to try and live in. At my age the home is becoming more and more difficult to maintain even tho I am in good health.Cost of maintaining a trailer is almost nothing compared to maintaining this home. I have two daughters in The Boise area and a son in Fresno. I'm not interested in travel, we were blessed to do plenty of that before the dementia came along. I want, as some have suggested, to be able to summer in Idaho and winter in California. Don't intend to get anything bigger than what my Canyon can tow. Many decisions to make in the coming months and I'm getting what I asked for from this forum, opinions, experience and advice. Thank you. LeeIf you don't plan on traveling I would look into a small efficiency apartment without any maintenance or towing. You could have one in each location. Some location have extended stay motels so you could have a apartment in one location and use one of the extended stay In the other. As you advance in age do you wish to be towing a trailer and doing maintenance on it? Just trying to suggest other options, only you can decide what's right for you. I know a couple that retired and sold their house. They have a park model up North in MN for summer and one in Florida for winter.

RE: New potential Parvo Treatment

Isn't it common to get the parvo shot when getting the rabies shot? Can dogs still get parvo when vaccination against it?
