RE: Busy few weeks coming.....

How did you do in CO? A friend was there watching, gave great commentary of a few runs on FB.

RE: Blocking behind TT steps

Thanks BCSnob! I think I have a piece of lattice out in the shed! We're competing the next two weekends with Dexter, the 3 1/2 y/o boy. He's doing Rally and Obedience this month, and as also doing the conformation thing. Not much herding interest. Little Dora shows promise as a true dual dog. Parents and grandparents on both sides proven on stock, and she's structurally excellent as well.

Blocking behind TT steps

We are starting to pack up and prep for our first substantial trip in the new TT, and a puzzler has presented itself. 90% of our camping is dry camping at dog shows or trials. We like to create a fenced "yard" of exercise pens at our setup (we are not at campgrounds when we do this) In the old Bounder, we simply used a short 18" pen to run against the side of the vehicle to keep the dogs from running under. It cleared behind the steps just fine. In the new TT, there is 11.5" ground clearance behind the stairs. The two adult dogs wouldn't bother, but we've got a new 12 week old puppy who would be under those stairs in a heartbeat. Ideas? Bonus if they can easily connect to ex-pens on both sides via eye snaps or carabiners. Oh, and welcome Dora - she'll be 12 weeks old on Wednesday!

RE: First Trip This Season

Glad the heat wasn't as bad as it could have been. Sorry to hear about BJ, glad you were able to make her more comfortable. Liver cancer is what stole my Buddy from me. I curse it daily.

RE: Cooper, not good (final update last page)

Sorry for your loss. Even when you know it's time, it's still so heartbreaking. RIP Cooper.

RE: 580 /880 or 680 around SF bay

Thanks. I get really queasy going over GG in a passenger car, I think I'll pass on towing over it. My question about the FasTrak lanes was for the bridge tolls. Just easier to pop my Metro FasTrak into the TV for this trip and let it charge the tolls to that account. Coming through on a Sunday, the "express" lanes aren't really express lanes anyways.

RE: Interstate 5 or Hwy 99 through Calif

There's a little construction on each at the moment. FWIW, if you're considering 395 to 58 and then catching either 99 or 5 from there, the interchange between 58 and 99 is a hot steaming mess at the moment. Some time late next year we will have a straight shot of freeway all the way from 58 out to I5, only 35 years later than we actually needed it. I tend to prefer 5 when towing, 99 in the car. But if I'm wanting or needing to take frequent stops on the way 99 is better for that. Try to time your trip so that you're not in Sacramento trying to cross the Bus. 80 to get over to 5 near any rush times and you're good.

580 /880 or 680 around SF bay

Coming through on a Sunday afternoon. Leaving from just south of Carmel and heading to Petaluma. Routes take us US101 to San Jose, then 880 to 580 and over the Richmond Bridge, or we can divert to 680 and take the Benicia bridge then 37 across to pick up 101 NB. Two questions... one, are there advantages/disadvantages to either bridge while towing a TT, and two, can we fit through the FasTrak lanes on either bridge?

RE: CA, OR Coast

Depending on where you want to go on the coast from Valley of the Rogue US 199 is ok, but the last 10 miles or get quite crocked and slow but totally doable. Thanks for the heads up. I decided to make a short day after leaving Valley of the Rogue so from there we're headed to the KOA outside of Crescent City, so 199 seems to be the way to go. We have all day to make the drive so no need to hurry.

Looking for good campground in Portland OR

Will be communing to events at the Holiday Inn near the airport. Mid-July. Looking for something decent that's not a terrible drive back and forth.

RE: CA, OR Coast

I'm also considering this route in late July. Going from Central CA to Portland we have to get there in a hurry, so it's up 5. Coming home we have the luxury of time. As of right now my last reservation is at Valley of the Rogue SP. Assuming of course I can get reservations, is the cut over from 5 to 101 there a friendly route? And 101 is accessible all the way down now? 25 ft TT, about 48 ft long when towing.

RE: Back after a long absence

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! Nice to see some familiar faces still around. We brought the new rig home today and did the first introduction to the TT. Going to take an overnighter next weekend to shake things out. Hope to share some photos then.

Back after a long absence

I've been away from the forums and RV-ing for a few years. We sold our old MH in 2011, and one thing and then another kept us from replacing it. Today we put down a deposit on a new-to-us Travel Trailer and the adventure begins again! I have two Pembroke Welsh Corgis, a 3-year old male and a 10-year-old female. We do all sorts of activities with shows, agility trials, herding, tracking, and scent work. I am also a licensed AKC Rally and (soon to be) obedience judge. Looking forward to introducing a new generation of pups to the RV life. Our old girl Diva was the baby of the pack when we last had an RV.
