RE: Do you always need an RV Park ? .....

I don't like looking out my window and seeing a RV 5' away from me. I enjoy looking out my window and seeing the mountains or desert and maybe another RV 500' away.

RE: Andersen Ultimate Hitch - my observations

My first thought is since you have a Superglide you must also have a short box. How does the Anderson work compared to the Superglide when you are backing up. With the Anderson can you hit the cab corner? I doubt that a dually is a smoother ride than you SRW truck is. Your friend is just use to towing with his Anderson hitch. I would find a way to help you lift the Superglide out of your truck.

RE: Solar Question

Back when I use to tilt my panels I would tilt at 45 degrees aim them just a little bit east of due south so that could start charging in the morning. My batteries were charged by noon. I started with two 160 watt panels. Now I don't tilt because I have more panels.

RE: Flying J frustrations - Alternatives?

We never use truck stops for fuel because of their high prices. In 11 years of towing our 32 foot 5th wheel I can only think of 3 gas stations that I had to back out of because of the 5th wheel.

RE: Nowhere to go

We will be in CA for the month of December with no reservations and I know that we will not have any problem finding places to set up camp. Of course we don't park in RV campground with a few hundred others. We find places off grid with no power and camp the old fashion way. It all depends on how you defined camping.

RE: cleaning 7-pin receiver connector on truck

When I get that message I just disconnect and connect the trailer plug a few times and the message goes away.

RE: 2010 Mobile Suites shock absorbers : See updated post

I have the Nev-R-Lube bearings on my 2004 Carriage with around 100,000 miles. I have no problems with mine. I called Dexter and talked to a tech and was told that to check them jack the tire off the ground and check for excess play in the bearing by grabbing the top of the tire and move it in and out. If you do remove the brake drum you will need to torque the bearing to 140 ft lbs.

RE: Absorption fridge 2 way vs 3 way

RE: New Chevy / GMC 3500HD options

The standard tailgate is powered and you can push a button inside the cab to raise or lower it. You mean standard on High Country or other high trim levels, correct? I'm not sure on all because I was only interested in the High Country.

RE: New Chevy / GMC 3500HD options

Does the 3500 sit higher than the 2500? I think that the 2500 and 3500 sit about the same but you should look at the specs to be sure. We are about ready to order one as well and don't know what to expect. Look at Do they just charge you full MSRP? Yes, I paid MSRP but some dealers may add a fee on top of that. I was going to ask for a discount but the process went so fast and then it was to late. Is there an option to get rid of the amber lights on top of the cab for the Denali or High Country? On a DRW no but on a SRW you would need to order them.

RE: New Chevy / GMC 3500HD options

Thanks Dadoffourgirls for the input. I ordered the standard tailgate. I still have time to change the order so I may add the heavy duty front springs.

New Chevy / GMC 3500HD options

I just ordered a 2022 Chevy 3500HD SRW and have a few questions about options. If you own a 2020 or 2021 3500HD do you have the standard power up down tailgate or the 6 way manual lift tailgate? Why did you pick what you did? There is an option for a Heavy Duty Front Spring / Camper Package. Did you check this box? I will be pulling a 5th wheel.

RE: National Forest boondocking sites compatible with big rigs

I some times use Campendium but most of the time I use Google Earth to find a clearing that I can set up camp in. If you find a list on the internet with GPS cords you can bet that when you get there that spot will be occupied. Always have a Plan B and a Plan C.

RE: Hot Water Re-Circulation Pump

Thanks for the great write up. I have been thinking about doing this also but my plan is to "T" into the hot shower faucet then throw a solenoid value and pipe it to the fresh water tank. This way I can open the solenoid value for 30 seconds and the RV water pump will move the water.
