RE: Opinion on Resort fees

They must have an amazing location to charge that.
We have a place not too far from us that charges that much + junk fees. I stopped going there, but they're still always pretty full. I don't they felt much pain when we quit going.
I won't be surprised to see nightly rates skyrocket next year. Demand is going to be insane.

RE: Wabash & Erie Canal Park, IN

We stayed at the KOA in Elkhart when we had some repairs done to our rig. It was very convenient, but the people at the KOA were very unfriendly. It's not a destination at all, but it served its purpose while we had the work done.

RE: Do any hotels/chains offer RV spots with electric or hookups

We've crashed overnight at some of the casinos in Mesquite, NV on our way coming or going. Dry camping only. It's not really free if you're ethical enough to go inside and blow a few bucks in their low-quality restaurants or play the slots or tables. It's convenient though, and you don't need a reservation.

RE: Couple of Ramp Questions

I had the same style as Linc's in our old Weekend Warrior and that long hinge was tough to keep clean. Our current trailer has the helper springs along the bottom, which makes a gap when the ramp is down. I like this gap better because you can sweep the garage out through that gap. But the helper springs in the Warrior provided more "help".

RE: Waste Tote Recommendations

Water weighs 8.33 pounds per gallon, and waste water weighs more than that, depending on your diet. Be careful about going too large.

RE: Skylight/roof repair

I am always hesitant to post an experience I have had that others may benefit from on this forum.
There are always those who are more experienced and have different opinions, and are always more than willing to share them.
This worked for me I thought I would share.
I am probably better off being an observer and not posting.

I'm so sorry, jesseannie. Civility is at an all-time low these days.
I wish I knew the cure.
However, I don't think the solution is for good people to withdraw.
I wish that more people would heed Thumper's mom's advice. And along those lines, a lot of people's mothers would be disappointed if they saw how their kids were behaving online.

9 responses so far. 6 mention drinking. I think I see a pattern. :)
I didn't mention it, but I assumed it was implied.

RE: What do you do?

It depends on the age of the crowd.
We fuss with the fire.
We play music if nobody is around.
We watch the dogs explore and bring us things to play fetch (again, if nobody is around).
If there are kids around, we tell them about "The Talking Stick" and explain that whoever has it gets to run the conversation. And then we teach them about progressive stories where one person starts the tale, and then you pass to the next person who picks up where the last left off and continues the epic tale. Kids love it.
If there aren't any kids, we tell grownup stories about previous camps and previous rides.
If it's just my wife and i, we stay quiet and admire the dogs chasing through the desert night. Sometimes we quietly play podcasts.
The fire is a living thing, and it's never the same twice.

RE: Anyone rent out their camper?

This is such a weird topic to bicker over.
I kind of finding it fascinating that folks buy something expensive for personal use then start trying to think of ways to make money on that item when they are not using it.
So you’re saying concepts like VRBO and AirBnB are poor business models that can’t work?
If you're going to edit the post, why not edit me out, 'cause I didn't say anything about VRBO or AirBnB.

Too many people Dave
Bingo. It's an excellent indicator that the thread is heading off the cliff.

Sort of like buying a new car to use to commute to work and back home and then try to find someone willing to pay you to use it while you are at work or when you get home for the evening just to get a couple of Dollars back on the purchase :h
Mean while they add miles to it, wear out tires, use up oil life and fuel and add extra risk of vehicle being stolen or damaged in the process of trying to retrieve a couple of bucks of "profit" :E ..
Would I rent out my stuff? NOPE, I like knowing where my stuff is and the condition of my stuff is all the time..
I have learned well over time to not loan or lend my stuff if I want it to return to me in same condition as I lent it.
Words...
...swarming right around my head...
...vanishing into a buzzing mist...
...until they're gone...
I still think this is a bizarre topic to garner so much emotion.

RE: Albany NY to Newport, VT

Do you mean Newport VA (Virginia) or UT (Utah)?
Have you tried Google Maps? They aren't the best, but are usually up to date.
Matt
Utah is landlocked. I don't think there is a Newport, Utah.

I have reset the controller, didnt fix it. I dont know what else to try.
Thanks!
Hey Friend. Did you disconnect the BT module from the main controller to reset it? That's what I did to reset mine.

RE: Renogy Controller w/BT

Hey there.
I don't recall the model number of my Renogy BT controller. It's external though. Is that the same as yours?
I've been running mine for close to two years now, if I recall.
I had one occurrence about a year ago where I lost connectivity. It was a pain to remove the screws and the cover to unplug it, but disconnecting & reconnecting reset the controller and reestablished the BT connection.
I don't know any other way to reset that controller. I wonder if yours could be faulty?

RE: Towing with a dually or single?need help please

In the State of California, any pick up truck, even the very small rangers, Nissans, etc. are considered commercial. That's how thy justify soaking you on your registration
I remember as a kid being surprised when my dad parked in a yellow curb (commercial loading).
He said, "The state soaks us for commercial plates, so I'm parking in the commercial spot."

RE: Which 19.5" tire to choose

^Makes sense if you’re upgrading to a heavier rig.
More weight also = better traction. I’d be looking for basically any traction tread and have them siped. And ideally studded as you drive the coastal mountains.
I don't live near the snow, so I had to look up "sipe". Learn something every day. Very cool.
Do you do this on all your trucks G.D.?
