RE: Biltmore

I agree it is a beautiful place and the views from the balconies on the back are excellent.
We have stayed at the Asheville East KOA and were right on the river(which is sometimes dry but not when we were there) Could also see the mountains.

RE: Disney Transportation question

Ok , 25 $ , I was staying at the fort so its then included. I drove to all the parks but MK. Faster that way, and i have a TT so just as easy.
You are saying you drove from Ft Wilderness to the parks and found it faster and easier? And staying at the FT gives you free parking? Honestly never considered that. The few times we were there we used Disney transport just assuming the parking situation would put you far from the entrance and be a pain. Although I will admit, one late night with tired kids (and already knowing the long route the bus was going to take to get us back) we called an Uber.
One of the things I like most about staying at FT. Wilderness is access to the Disney transportation system.
I consider riding,, the boats, monorail and buses all part of the experience. I can park the car and not worry about driving the entire stay. Unless it were an emergency I would never pay vs. taking Disney transportation. I'm just not in that much of a hurry to get back to the RV. It's all vacation time!
We have gone the route of driving and parking before while at the Fort. It was a time saver most of the time. However, when we went in early December 2020, the parking lot trams were not running(part of the CoVid protocols) and you had to walk in from the lot. This negated any time saving. I don't know if the trams are running again but if not use the buses, etc.

RE: Disney Transportation question

The outside parks do not have scheduled transportation. Some have stops from the public transit to ride to Disney but nothing more. An Uber or Lyft will cost about $20-25 to take you.

RE: Replace Mobley

I have not experienced any time limits on my Mobley.
I use the Mobley without any time limits, but I am not often online for 2 hours at a time.
While traveling my Mobley is on line 24/7. When not using it for steaming or other internet uses it allows remote connection to my trailer's monitoring devices(cameras and temperature sensors).

RE: Replace Mobley

I have not experienced any time limits on my Mobley. I just finished a two week trip in early December and no issues. I also have the Netgear LB1120 with the external antenna (6000450) when in fringe areas. The sim card swaps in and out of the two devices with no issues. Did not need any unlock codes or contact with ATT tech support to use.

RE: How to listen to MY own music on my phone?

If you have a Best Buy near you, see if they have the Samsung reps available. The rep will take you through the change and will also update the phone with latest software.

RE: Television - 12 volt or 120?

I wonder if the 12v units, given they are built for RV's, are made more robust to handle the banging around. 110v TV just sit on a stand or hang on a wall.
Any one with a dead one ever open it up? Are the electronics all potted up? Mounts more robust? This would account for higher $ along with way lower production numbers.
I have worked on many and participated in reliability studies on many brands of televisions. The RV ready units are no more robust than any other unit. The RV ready moniker is just hype. An example is the Jensen units which are in name only. They were bought out by Audiovox early 2000s. They survive only as a name owned by ASA electronics today. The product is low end Chinese manufactured. The chassis is mostly plastic and has little support for the display.
Now having said that, it is important to realize that most of the televisions today are made by only a handful of companies trading under many names(some of which used to be big names like GE RCA Zenith). Look at the sets in person and chose the one that looks best to you and check the reviews. Vizio, Sharp, Samsung and Sony seem to be well liked. Now go for the price and if needed get an inverter for the unit you like.

RE: Remembrances of vacuum tube days

Started at a very young age by helping my grandfather and then my father repair electronics (TVs, radios and early HiFi rigs. I liked to build Dynaco stereos and loved my McIntosh stereo equipment. I still think the old tube type equipment has a better sound. I worked for many different electronics shops and went into teaching electronics after closing my own shop. I was always sought out by the local hobbyists to fix their Heathkits when they messed up. Eventually I got into computers and networking. When the students quit taking electronics classes(math was too hard :B), I changed to computers and networking classes. Retired from teaching at the Community college after teaching high school for many years.

RE: I Hope This Doesn't Get Taken Down Right Away

I was in 2nd grade. They announced it over the PA. Our teacher ran out of the room crying. We were not really aware of the magnitude at that early age. The principal came to our room to lead us to the auditorium where we waited for awhile until school was dismissed to go home. I remember all the teachers outside were crying and trying to get the bus students on their way.

RE: Amazon Lockers

It is a good way to get something when you are out of your area. BUT if you use it for a return item be prepared for a long wait to get your credit. I tried it twice. First time it took 2 weeks to get credited; showed not received for the entire time. Second time, I had to call Amazon to get the item credited after 3 weeks.

RE: Thor or Forest River - Warranty and reputation

Which is better for warranty/customer service, etc. Or is this more the dealer and/or extra warranty?
Thanks!

RE: Thor or Forest River - Warranty and reputation

Thor is a publicly traded company with many divisions.Forest River is owned by Berkshire-Hathaway and also has many divisions. I have owned two Forest River units (Rockwood division)and have had very good service and few issues (none major).
I would suggest you go to the owners forums for the two units
FROG (Forest River Owners Group)FROG and look in the Coachmen sub group
and
Crossroad Owners
Many a post good and bad for these and others. Can get a better feel for the units. You can also join and post in both to get direct feedback on the models you are looking at from other owners.

You can disable the signature enforcement but this can open your unit to other issues, mainly security. You need to know how to use the command prompt or test mode.
