RE: I'm buying one (surprise)

Re radio there is a switch on the lower dash near drivers door that changes radio operation from either engine battery or coach battery try starting engine and placing switch to engine battery to see if radio works. Maybe the coach battery is dead? My 2006 Winnebago Chalet is the same as your 2005 Itasca Spirit or Winnebago Minnie. The price seems good to me if their are no major problems. Regarding the generator, if it has not run in a long time the carb is gummed up or like a previous post low on gas, I run my gen every 30 days for about an hour with a load. Let us know what you end up doing. Welcome to the RV owners world. Dick

RE: brake buddy

my receiver keep giving me false alerts so stopped using it. I can feel it if my 16 year old classic brake buddy engages the toad brakes. I also set the BB at 2 as I really only want to apply the brakes in a panic stop.

RE: Flat Towing Lincoln Navigator with Driveshaft Disconnect

Ford puts out a yearly Towing Guide that also list Lincoln. search by the year of your vehicle and Ford RV and trailer guide. Info is very useful.

RE: Sacramento to Crescent City

Set aside weather considerations. I am more concerned about winding roads. What's the best route in a 26' RV? even though it's out of the way, thinking of going 80 to 37 to 116 to 101, rather than up the 5 to 299 When we have taken I-80 to 37 most of the times we have taken 37 all the way to 101. We also like I-5 to either 20 or 299. When we take 101 & 37 it is usually when we are going south heading to the Rio Vista area on CA 12.

RE: Need some advice

I would cut out San Francisco and Yosemite then you might have a good trip. If SF is a must do a fly in at the first or end of the trip. If you are thinking about taking the mountain pass from hwy 395 to Yosemite, it usually isn't open until June or July.

RE: Dually Valve Stems

We are Borg. Resistance is futile. https://yourtireshopsupply.com/manufacturer/38/borg-equipment These things are supposed to be the state of the art answer. I haven't tried them. these are great, installed on my class c in 2012.

RE: Overnighting on 6 HWY Neveda

Rachel is on hwy 375 many miles south of 6. Where 6 meets 360 west of 95 there are big pulloffs off of 6 and both sides of 360 where it meets 6. We have never stayed overnight just use as a stopping area to rest. I'm sure truckers spend nights there. Also at Montgomery Pass (west of 360) there is a big wide area at a old out of business motel on south side.

RE: Best route from Merced Ca to Mesa Az

Hwy 58 ends where it meets I-15 at Barstow, from I-15 take I-40 (the Needles freway) to Needles.

RE: Repair costs and frequency frustration

We went from a 30' class C with 2 slides to a 20' Pleasure Way Class B. Very bad mistake. Sold our Toad. Sold Pleasure Way, purchased 24V Class C Winnie no slide love it, purchased a new toad. Can either travel with or without toad, usually take toad. Before you make the mistake I did, rent a B for a trip. Dick

RE: Fresh water drain

usually basic things like that are covered in the owners manual. In all the motor homes we have owned the fresh water drain valve is near the water pump, can you find the water pump?

RE: Nevada 447

Most black hwys in NV are good. We did 447 a few years ago in a class B MH. Highway is nrrow in places. Below is my day log info. Day 1 - Thursday, September 1, 2011 On The Road Out of Fallon at 9:10 AM PDT heading West to Fernley then North on 447. Quite a bit of traffic on 447 due to Burning Man at Blackrock Desert, Once we got past Gerlach heading to Cedarville a lot less traffic. 447 is a shorter route, but you can’t make as good of time on it. 190 to Cedarville, four hours. Had lunch at Country Hearth Café/Bakery. We Stopped 14 miles S of Lakeview at Goose Lake OR SP site # 13 w/20 amp electric & water $20.00. This is a nice park, sites do not have lake view and showers are not the best.

RE: Wells, NV to Bishop, CA

Nevada black highways are great, take 93 to 6 & 6 on into Bishop. There is a 7000' pass on 6 prior dropping down into CA, but should not be a problem. Alternate you could take I-80 to 95 South to 360 W to 6 W, good highways. We have taken this 95, 360 & 6 route many times in our MH towing our toad.

RE: Sacramento to San Diego

If you want a scenic route take 50 E to 89 SE to 395 S to I-15 or 99 S to Lodi then hwy 12 cut over to 88 E to 395 S to I-15. If taking one of the routes you said from Bakersfield on hwy 58 till it meets 395 at four corners and 395 to I-15.
