RE: Missing Florida Sun in Seattle

Morro Bay on the central CA coast. We like the small RV park on Main street. Cypress RV & Mobilehome Park. 1121 Main St 93442 (805) 772-2515. Brookings Oregon isn't too bad in winter, very close to CA/OR line.

RE: Reflectix on window, long-term?

I have used it for more than 6 years in the window of the overhead bunk,to keep the heat down and keep from sun bleaching the curtains,it faces east when stored here at home. There has not been any downside to this or any problems. I also use it in the rear and side windows while stored here at home and also camping when needed. The nice thing I like about it over the solid, which I tried,if you want to see out all you have to do is take it down and roll it up for easy storage. Not so on the solid boards, always a storage problem,I found it was a real pain. Same here, only problem I know of is if you have dual pane windows. My local glass company said not to use it on dual pane home windows. He said they get a lot of business from fixing dual pane home windows because of this causing heat build up. I took it out of the few dual pane home I was using it in.

RE: Swapping out my jackknife sofa for recliners

I did much the same thing except I used the seat belts. Took out the male ended seat belts and used two female belts on both far sides of the Lazy-boys and used a ratchet strap to bring them together tight. This is the second MH I've done this and works well as long as you remember to fasten them before traveling. It dose make the chairs not usable while traveling.

RE: 24 ft ClassC MH downsides

Gjac, those sound like good reasons to me. The picture of the Itasca Spirit is the same model 24v I have in Winnebago. If the DW is not happy with the RV you won't be using it much. I guess I should be glad I still don't have my 1990 Superchief on a P30 chassis. I do like the fact class C's have driver & passenger doors and air bags. One thing the most of the newer models that have the corner bed they have reduced the width of the bed to make the bathroom a little bigger, my is a short queen 60" wide I think 75" long. Dick

RE: 24 ft ClassC MH downsides

I have a 24' class c and many times thought I would like to have a 32' class a again. Why do you want a 24' class c? My favorite motorhome was new 1990 Winnebago Superchief class A. Loved camping in it and enjoying the view thru the big front windshield. Many times I have wondered why I sold it and purchased a 5th wheel. Now I have a class c. If your staying with a gas class c you not going to see much MPG improvement. I also thought with the 24' class c I would not want a toad, went without one for awhile and didn't like not having one. Don't jump into downsizing. Dick

RE: I'm buying one (surprise)

Re radio there is a switch on the lower dash near drivers door that changes radio operation from either engine battery or coach battery try starting engine and placing switch to engine battery to see if radio works. Maybe the coach battery is dead? My 2006 Winnebago Chalet is the same as your 2005 Itasca Spirit or Winnebago Minnie. The price seems good to me if their are no major problems. Regarding the generator, if it has not run in a long time the carb is gummed up or like a previous post low on gas, I run my gen every 30 days for about an hour with a load. Let us know what you end up doing. Welcome to the RV owners world. Dick

RE: brake buddy

my receiver keep giving me false alerts so stopped using it. I can feel it if my 16 year old classic brake buddy engages the toad brakes. I also set the BB at 2 as I really only want to apply the brakes in a panic stop.

RE: Sacramento to Crescent City

Set aside weather considerations. I am more concerned about winding roads. What's the best route in a 26' RV? even though it's out of the way, thinking of going 80 to 37 to 116 to 101, rather than up the 5 to 299 When we have taken I-80 to 37 most of the times we have taken 37 all the way to 101. We also like I-5 to either 20 or 299. When we take 101 & 37 it is usually when we are going south heading to the Rio Vista area on CA 12.

RE: Need some advice

I would cut out San Francisco and Yosemite then you might have a good trip. If SF is a must do a fly in at the first or end of the trip. If you are thinking about taking the mountain pass from hwy 395 to Yosemite, it usually isn't open until June or July.

RE: Dually Valve Stems

We are Borg. Resistance is futile. These things are supposed to be the state of the art answer. I haven't tried them. these are great, installed on my class c in 2012.

RE: Overnighting on 6 HWY Neveda

Rachel is on hwy 375 many miles south of 6. Where 6 meets 360 west of 95 there are big pulloffs off of 6 and both sides of 360 where it meets 6. We have never stayed overnight just use as a stopping area to rest. I'm sure truckers spend nights there. Also at Montgomery Pass (west of 360) there is a big wide area at a old out of business motel on south side.
