RE: F-53 V-10 Oil Capacity

The original V-10 F-53 came with a short dipstick (1999-2000) making it appear it needed more oil to bring it up to the full mark. The replacement dipstick was Part # F81Z-6750-HC Indicator - Oil Level The correct capacity of the V-10 in the F-53 has always been 6 quarts with a filter change unless you've modified the oil pan. TSB 01-10-5 Publication Date: MAY 15, 2001 ENGINE - 6.8L - OIL LEVEL INDICATOR READS INACCURATE - SUPER DUTY F-53 MOTORHOME CHASSIS VEHICLES - UPDATED OIL LEVEL INDICATOR FORD: 1999-2001 SUPER DUTY F-53 STRIPPED CHAS. ISSUE: On some 6.8L equipped Super Duty F-53 Motorhome chassis vehicles, the oil level readings on the engine oil level indicator (dipstick) may read inaccurate (low) when the actual levels are within acceptable limits and adequate oil volume is in the sump. This may be noticed after an oil change, 5.7 L (6 quarts) of oil are added, and the engine has been started to fill the galleys and filter. The engine oil level indicator may then indicate 0.47 to 0.95 L (1/2 to 1 quart) low. This may be caused by the oil level indicator design. ACTION: Remove engine oil level indicator and replace with new design engine Oil Level Indicator (F81Z-6750-HC) which has correct markings to record oil levels at acceptable ranges. The new indicator has a "loop" handle. The prior indicator has a "Tee" stick-type handle (Figure 1). PART NUMBER PART NAME F81Z-6750-HC Indicator - Oil Level 2002 Ford Excursion V-10 always took just over 6 1/2 qts. I always put the full 7 in and it was just over the full mark by a hair. Same goes for my 2012 F53. But on mine it seems to be full at the 61/2 qts. 6qts would make it below the full mark.

RE: opinions on 2007 damon astoria 3773

Is it like this one? not 23 yrs old, 13 yrs old. appears to be in good condition as I drove it and looked it over as much as I could in the lot. All I'm looking for is maybe someone that owns or has owned a similar model and how they liked it or the bugs they had with it. I will have it checked out if and when I decide to pull the trigger as I will have 30 days to decide. I always loved the look of that model year Astoria. The rear radiator is an ongoing debate. After reading the pros and cons I wouldn’t walk away from one. Thor also has a reputation for lack of quality. Although on an 07 I would think that would be a moot point! I would look for delamination and other issues suck as leaks. If that checks out then have the chassis inspected real good. Air bags, brake system and lines/hoses. Hopefully someone will post that owns one with real world info. Good luck!

RE: New Camper problems

Lots of bits and pieces of missing information. We need a more detailed explanation. If it works with the tuck connects it sounds like a battery issue. But then when you connected the jumpers to the RV battery it worked?

RE: F11 Top coat Polish

This is what dealers use on cars to make them look all shiny. It will wash away after a couple washes or a rain.

RE: what surface to store tt on?

If you want you can dig out where the tires sit and put patio blocks to park on. I did that at the storage lot where I use to store our TT.

RE: Big Oak River Camp, Camp Wood, TX refused to return deposit

Well it would be good business for them to return deposits maybe minus a $20 fee considering the current man made craziness!

RE: Gas prices

And here I thought I hit the jackpot when I filled the MH @ $2.39 a gallon last fall when it went into storage!

RE: I weighed my rig. Need help with math

You won't be able to get the final tire pressure until you weigh it for travel. But I would say around 75 will be the approx pressure. As for the springs I would go with the 5000lb springs.

RE: How to improve 2017 Ford 350 head light output? See Update.

Here is a video that popped up in my recommendations on you tube. He has a very good explanation of how and why LED’s work and don’t work. As I also said, there is a proper bulb for a housing and the LED’s must be positioned on the portion of the board that goes inside the housing. Definitely worth watching! LED headlamp bulb video

RE: Park & Campground Closures

I believe you all need to rethink your travel plans, not only for your own good but for the good of others. This is not they year to travel anywhere, especially Interstate travel. Common sense should tell you to stay home and 'backyard camp'. Why travel restrictions are being imposed, because people exhibit no common sense. People today want to do what makes them 'feel good' and disregard the welfare of others. My point is... Stay home and stay alive. This virus has freaked many people out. And the fact is it's not as bad as it's being made out to be. People get it just like the flu. The flu is passed among everyone just like Covid. You may already have it and not even know and may never know because it doesn't affect most people the same way. It's mainly very bad for the elderly and infants or people with respiratory issues. It's going to get passed around he country and then fade off and come back next year. By then there will most likely be a shot for it. So those of you hiding in your bunkers are doing more harm than good! And our local, state and federal government aren't doing the country any favors!

I work at a Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram dealer. The Rams don't seem to have many issues. Yes you may encounter some, but they are few and far between. As far as electrical issue like the radio. Well all manuf. are going to have those problems. And the warranty is always there to use. We have never given a customer a problem with warranty work.

FMCA insurance

Hello. My wife wants me to shop RV insurance since ours went up. I have been on the fence on joining FMCA to get all the benefits of other stuff they offer along with insurance discounts. right now we have it through our regular auto insurance company with coverage for contents. Does anyone have insurance through FMCA. How is it? How do you like it? Any input is appreciated.

So they’re closing it to overnight camping which has less people than during the day which they are still having the park open? Yep, someone isn’t the brightest!

Very good. I installed one of those on the propane tanks on my TT. Never had weak batteries from storage after that.

I would’ve never thought we’d have headlight police, but I guess I’m always amazed at what pops up!

RE: Crack in fiberglass next to slide

Something is flexing for that to happen. Yes it can be fixed but it will happen again unless you find where it’s flexing (probably a broken weld on the aluminum frame), and find exactly where is a job in itself. Leave this RV to someone who wants a project!
