RE: Converter charger upgrade

I've used Progressiv Dynamics in 3 units. They've been around a long time and have a great rep. The converters will all "smart charge" automaticaly, I like the pendant to know what mode they are in, and override if I want. I have 480 watts of solar and the PD converter plays with the solar controller just fine. Doug

RE: Solar suitcase problem

I believe that controller is 12/24 volt. Did you hook up the battery side first? Most dual voltagr controllers determine their operation from the battery hookup. Values you mentioned sound like it thinks its a 24 volt system

RE: Furnace short cycling

ADD MORE VENTS. Any less than having all the vents called for by the manufacturer is dangerous. Doug

RE: 55% efficient printed solar panels

I'd be VERY suspicious of 55% claims. NASA's VERY expensive panels are about 35%, there is a write-up on a laboratory cell getting 47%. Investigate further.

bathroom fan

My bathroom fan is on a wall switch; this turns the fan on and off, but you still need to open the vent manually (too high for wife to do). Is there a fan/vent unit available that turns on the fan, and opens the vent when powered on, and then closes the vent when powered off. There are covers that can be installed to allow the vent to stay open; I'm not a fan of them., Thanks, Doug

Flexible PEX hose.

My new rig uses a braided flexible hose for some of its piping that is the same size and uses the same connectors as pex hose. Lowes/HD don't have any braided hose this size. Does anybody know a source for this as I'm trying to do some modifications?? Thanks, Doug

RE: Add steps without mounting box?

I'm with you, those steps are designed for those who stay in one place, not for people who travel. Our 2020 Grand Design Imagine came with the solid steps. I looked underneath at the frame and it looks like the frame has the mounts for fold up steps. I'm pretty sure I'l have to cut some sheet metal to clear the new steps, but I'll be happy to do it. Doug.

RE: Commercial macerator or homemade from garbage disposer

Bought a used garbage disposal at the local "Habitat" store for $10 added about $20-30 dollars of parts have used it for years. Will pump 100 feet with about 3 ft rise (that's the most I've used). Works perfectly. Regards, Doug

Solar wiring through vent, how to seal hole in vent line

I had to bring the wire for my rooftop solar panels down through the kitchen sink vent pipe. I drilled a 3/4 in hole to fish wire through; how have others sealed this hole?? Thanks, Doug

Black Foam source

I'm looking for a source of black foam that is for large gaps. I can find Great Stuff white in large gap filling, and Great Stuff in black 3/4 gap filling. I can't find anything in black for large gaps. Anyone know a source? Thanks, Doug

RE: Non-renewable Lithium...Fact.

2oldman our sun may last another 5 billion years. After that--it's curtains. That's why its a good idea to always keep your batteries fully charged. Doug

RE: Upgraded Solar

Great looking work. Similar to my plans for new trailer on order (should have been here now; dealer/manufacturer messed up order, arrived with incorrect options: second is on order). Where did you source the switch/circuit breakers. I'd like to use them. Thanks, Doug

RE: Microwaves on inverters.

The batteries are only half of the equation. What do you do so you can run the coffee maker and microwave the next day? And what about the times when the sun doesn't shine for 4 days? And what is the cost of that side of the equation? Just buy the generator and be done. I have a 2 K Honda; I HATE running generators.

Microwaves on inverters.

I have a unit with 1500 watt microwave and would like to be able to use it occasionally when dry camping (10 min or less at a time). I plan to use a 2000 watt pure sine wave inverter. Also plan using it on a 900 watt coffee maker (about 15 min a pot). Anyone have any experience with this setup? Thanks, Doug
