RE: Engine idle surges up and down when stopping at lights

I had a GMC Jimmy that did that. EGR valve kept clogging with carbon. Hubby would take it off, blow it out with air compressor and then it was good for about 3 months. If we didn't do that, the idle got worse and it would stall, service engine light would then come on. The surge is what told me it was starting again and he needed to do that.

RE: How to get a loan for RV

We had great luck with our credit union. Banks didn't want to loan the smaller amount we needed. Most were 50,000+ on motorhomes.

RE: Stimulus Late in Arriving

SS people who do NOT file taxes but have automatic deposits are receiving their stimulus #3 with a payment date of April 7th. Ours is already showing as pending in our account. If you file taxes, you should already have received it.

RE: Toilet lasted 22 months, replaced it

They must not make em like they used to, just like everything else. Our Aqua Magic is 21 years old. Hubby fixed the spring for the foot petal and it rinses all the way around the rim. I'd be upset if I was changing one after 22 months !

RE: Internet for 4 months

Verizon offers a mobile internet device with various data plans. Not tied to your phones, independent. We receive internet in places that cell phone don't work. Different signal for data devices. If you are going to be in a rural/remote area, I'd consider a stand alone device. If in a city, there's lots of choices with a cell phone.

RE: Domicle not getting caught?

Don't fake it. Start full-time in the middle of the year by establishing your residency in one of the no tax states. You then file a pt-time resident tax form for the prior year with NY and your federal using the new address provided to you. Whatever state you establish your residency in, open bank accounts. Transfer your vehicle registration from NY to that state, buy vehicle insurance, set up bank accounts, register to vote etc. Do all the things you would do if you had bought a real house there. NY would not have any grounds to come after you. New address on everything , social security, medicare, all mail, etc. We use SD and have for 11 years.

RE: RV Roof Tape

We also did all seams and around vents etc with eternabond tape several years ago after the refrigerator vent leaked. Haven't had any problem since.

RE: Biloxi/Gulfport Ms crowds

They don't usually get large crowds on spring break. We spent 4 winters there and never had a problem with crowds except in the fall when the old cars were there, or Mardi Gras.

RE: Wallpaper

I'd use vinyl on vinyl wallpaper paste for whatever you put up. I put some border up about 8 years ago and all is still fastened down tightly. I just roughed up the vinyl lightly with fine sandpaper and put it up. ( cleaned it well too).

RE: Old Vs New Rig

We have a 2000 V10 36' and will put money into this long before we would buy new/er. We have a quality build and have had no major issues in the 10 years we have owned it. Floorplan works great for us. We'll just keep this paid off one, and you will probably be happier with yours, as long as you like your coach.

RE: Big truck passing

If you haven't heard about the Cheap Handling Fix, do a google search and read about it. See if it applies to you. We did front and rear on our F53 chassis and it made a big difference.

RE: First Time RV Buyer

We have a 2000 Monaco Monarch - gas that was 10 years old when we purchased and we have now been full-time in it for 10 years. We still love it and it has had very few problems. Mostly maintenence things like tires, replacing circuit boards , vent covers that the sun damages - that type of thing. We would buy it again in a heartbeat.

RE: Moderna vaccine (Personal experiences)

I've noticed here in TX that there are people from the 1st groups that haven't received their vaccines, because NONE are being supplied to the rural areas. Meantime the eligibility rules have made 2 more groups eligible, but still NO VACCINES. Everything is going to the large cities. This county has 20,000 residents and has received 200 doses, and that was in early December.

RE: 4 degrees in Dallas!

Millions without power or heat in TX now and the extreme cold continues with another storm Tues night/Wed morning. At least we have a generator in the RV and would be okay even if power went out. It's single digits here too. Furnace run constantly.

RE: Not Crazy About Snow and Cold

Originally from MI, full-time and in S Central TX freezing. We have wind, snow, sleet ice and this is just like being in MI. Single digits and have been above freezing for a couple days now. Can't wait for next week.

RE: ..Looking for a new air compressor for the MH tires etc..

I guess it depends on how high psi you need. We have a Porter Cable pancake compressor that will handle up to 150 psi. We have a motorhome.
