Never hook to the hitch. OP Here Why shouldn't you hook to the hitch? Dave

Where to connect brake break away cable on Patriot Hitch

I just had a B & W Patriot hitch installed yesterday. It is replacing a R & W little rocker hitch. I used a Carabiner to connect my break away cable to multiple holes in the little rocker. The Patriot has no holes anywhere in it. For those of you that have the B & W Patriot where do you connect the break away cable? Dave

5th wheel lube plate question

I just had installed a new B & W Patriot hitch. When looking at my current lube plate it is a bit worn and does not stay on king pin that well. When looking to purchase one I see two differant sizes 8 inch and 10 inch. Does size really matter? There is not much differance in price. I just want what is best. Your thoughts? Dave

RE: Front storage door replacement

Several Options: Contact the manufacture of the RV and order the replacement. Contact a local dealer for assistance. Web search for RV Salvage yards and purchase from them. Good Luck! Dave

RE: Why the delay in shipping?

Because of Covid-19, and particularly the disruption to airline schedules because nobody is flying, the entire supply chain around the country is a mess. I just got my Father's Day present from my daughter in LA a couple days ago. I've seen notes on various web sites from which I've ordered things about shipping often taking longer than normal, and experienced it with numerous packages. You aren't alone, OP. And all those among us used to near instantaneous receipt of ordered goods are going to have to get used to going back to the old days when you placed an order or mailed somebody something, and it could be expected to take a while to get there. OP here I can accept some delay but 16 days and no there wasn't any warning about delays. I have ordered from Amazon and eBay with no delays what so ever. FedEx UPS USPS are all still working very hard and they are all flying. The delay is getting someone at Camping World to pull the items put them in a box attach shipping label and send to shipper.

RE: Why the delay in shipping?

OP here, I went and looked and now I see I can expect delivery July 23rd. That will be 16 days to get two small items. Marcus care to address this? Why such a delay? Why wasn't I informed prior to ordering about the shipping time? Absolutely horrible service Dave

Why the delay in shipping?

I ordered 2 items from Camping World on July 7th and have not heard anything 4 days later. When I check order status it states In Process which it said from the beginning. 4 days and nothing. Wanted to use these on upcoming trip but doesn't look like that's going to happen. Very disappointed and will look elsewhere for future items. Dave

RE: Fifth Wheels with Long bed truck cover

I have a long bed Chevy with trifold cover. I can tow with cover folded and latched. The best thing to do is to hitch up and go to empty parking lot and make some turns with someone watching just in case folded cover is to high and makes contact with 5th wheel. With the rounded fronts on the 5th wheels should not be a problem. Dave

Cable Maintenance for Dump valves

I have 3 dump valves operated by cables. I've tried searching for how to maintain and lubricate them but haven't found much information. What should I be doing to maintain them and what products should I be using? The pull handles are accessed through the front drivers side compartment below my Nautilus P1 water controls. Thanks! Dave

RE: Battery replacements in 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500 Diesel

OP Here, I had both batteries tested today at Advance Auto Parts. Both checked out okay so I guess I'm going to wait and just keep getting them tested. Probably may consider replacing before cold weather. Thanks! Dave Did Advance disconnect the wires from each battery and test w/o them? Just asking cuz it could be possible that may get a good read when it's actually not. But that being said, given the current batteries are 7 maybe 8 years old (time of actual manure date), why not just go ahead and replace them now and not worry wether or not they won't start the truck? You only need to take one wire off of one battery to test them separately. My wonderful Ford dealer had no clue that they needed two separate tests. The technician did disconnect something and ran the test on both batteries. I would go ahead and replace them now but financially if I can wait a little it would be much better for me as I'm on a fixed disability income and a $400 expense is much better when budgeted and planned for. RE: The better 5th wheeler?

I hear some good things regarding the Grand Design Momentum toy haulers. That was before they were taken over by Winnebago. Now the customer service is horrible. I cannot advise anyone to buy a Grand Design product. Dave

RE: Battery replacements in 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500 Diesel

Every Advance, Auto Zone, and even the little one man shop battery places install batteries for free. Granted, they must be charging enough for the batteries to cover their efforts but have you checked any of these places? At 7 years I would replace both of them too. They are both their under the hood. It's not a complex job but you have to be very careful you don't short anything out. OP Here, I have checked both and because there are two and fender supports need removed they will not replace mine. Dave

Battery replacements in 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500 Diesel

My 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Diesel has two batteries. They are original and therefore at least 7 years old. My concern is that they die in a most inopportune time. The one battery is in the normal place up top by the fender but the second battery is buried somewhere. I know that I should replace both batteries at the same time as they are a parallel connection. Has anyone replaced there batteries themselves? How complicated is it? Where exactly is the 2nd battery located? I've searched online and cannot find anything on replacing the 2nd battery. My dealer wants $55 replacement fee for each battery plus $169 for each battery. A total of $475 including tax. I understand that the replacement is more difficult for the 2nd battery but is $110 labor fee a bit much? Thanks in advance for your help Dave

RE: Hey Marcus...I’m still not happy

You will get told that Covid-19 is delaying everything BUT as mentioned Amazon has delivered 3 packages to me in the last week all within 3 days of order. I ordered a hitch over two weeks ago through a RV dealer and it still hasn't shipped and no time frame is offered. Same hitch on Amazon offering 3 day delivery. If I hadn't already paid for it I would just order through Amazon. Dave

RE: Battery toggle switch

Battery disconnect switch. there is still some paracidic draw when turned off, CO, lp, radio. Exactly why Installed this right off the battery. Battery to switch to rest of 5th wheel. Eliminates all parasitic draw. Blue Sea Systems 6006 Battery Disconnect My 5th wheel is in a storage yard so not always plugged in. Dave

RE: Had a water leak

When I winterize I pump the "pink stuff" into system and the outside shower is the first thing I open and have the antifreeze come out. I then do bathroom including toilet then kitchen. If it is not to big of a hassle I would just fix it and be done with it. You may not use it now but things happen and I'd rather have it then not IMHO. Good luck! Dave

RE: Toll roads or not

In Pennsylvania they eliminated toll collectors and everything is now either EZ Pass or bill in mail based on license plate. If you use the bill by mail the cost is significantly more money. There have been issues with the bill by mail such as late bills excess charges wrong person billed etc. My EZ Pass has been flawless. If you elect toll roads then I would definitely go EZ Pass. Dave

RE: How to get the Television to work in bedroom

Turn off antenna booster and select cable input on tv and scan for channels. I do have the antenna booster turned off and I thought I did the scan for channels but will try that again

RE: How to get the Television to work in bedroom

Ok, stupid question, is the park cable working? Yes cable works fine on living room TV just not bedroom.
