RE: HWY 50 - From Montrose to Pueblo - In 45 foot 5th Wheel?

I would say it is nothing like 550. Gunnison Canyon is a little narrow. Not bad though. Great campground on eastern end of lake, Elk Creek Campground. You should have no problems. We have MH with toad, Take your time! Lots to see!

RE: Strange electrical problem

Quick look, your panel has two 12 volt DC inputs which means you should have two fuses. Look at bottom of this for information. Manual

RE: East Side of Sierra options

There was not much at Topaz Lake. That is why we went east on CA 120. Locals didn't know of anything on lake. There was a parking lot where you could walk along lake, but it had no camping signs.

RE: East Side of Sierra options

East of Lee Vining on CA 120 about five miles is dispersed camping in Inyo National Forest. Near Tom's Place is another forest service campground, Tuff Campground, Inyo NF

RE: RV Hot Skin (Exterior electrification)

I haven't seen anything. OP talked about getting "tester". I didn't see much information back on how the rig is connected to outlet. Adapter? type of extension cord. Talked about installing GFCI receptacle.

RE: RV Hot Skin (Exterior electrification)

It may not be as easy to replace the shore power cord. Would need to identify 120 volt power center if it even has one. Many of the older two wire system didn't have them. They relied on the protection in the supply location.

RE: RV Hot Skin (Exterior electrification)

I would not jump out and do anything until the shore power cord is identified whether it is two or three wire! If it is two wire you are asking for problems!

RE: RV Hot Skin (Exterior electrification)

Mr_Andyj: What type of shore power cord do you have? 3 wire 30 amp TT30R?

RE: RV Hot Skin (Exterior electrification)

I go back into the early 70s with the electrical code. The only rigs that had the neutral and ground bonded in an RV was those with a two wire 15/20 amp connection. Some "electricians" bonded them not knowing what they are doing. When I taught electrical classes many electricians left after Chapter 4 saying "I never work on " specials in Chapters 5 through *".

RE: Tires and their pressures

You need to weigh your rig to get the correct air pressure. This is true for TV, trailers of any type and MHs.

RE: RV Hot Skin (Exterior electrification)

The only place that an RV frame and body gets grounded is through the green wire in the shore power cord. The neutral is not tied to ground in the rig.

RE: Travel direction assistance

Straight south on US 24, US 285 gets to New Mexico. However you didn't say what part!

RE: Norcold "C" code

Should have said to use a meter! Visual inspection is not enough!

RE: Norcold "C" code

Check battery connections. Check the fuse or circuit breaker adjacent to the battery. Follow the main battery positive cable to fuse or circuit breaker. It normally is located at the junction of main battery cable, umbilical cord and trailer wiring.

RE: Water leaking from overflow valve on city water

Valves under the rig are for draining the system. They should be in normal operation closed.

RE: Solar LED monitor

My 93 Pace Arrow has the little 5 watt solar panel from factory. It doesn't keep up with any thing! I installed a solar powered gate opener. The solar panel that is connected to it works much better. As soon as I get cooler weather, I am going to install one on rig along with a real charge controller.

RE: Norcold "C" code

Use a meter to check battery voltage. Then check DC voltage at refer circuit board. What happens when plugged into shore power? It may not be battery, but corroded connection.

RE: 50 Amp plugging into 30 amp service

As noted one AC unit. Careful if you have electric element in water heater. Best not to use it! cord adapter
