RE: Connect small wires to auto battery post?

Look in the under hood fuse/relay box for hot all the time spare terminal or fuse position. Could connect to either terminal post one or two in fuse/relay box. What amount of power do you need?

RE: Bolts to Replace Retractable Steps

They are probably Carriage bolts. Will need to pull up step covering. Square portion of carriage bolts are spinning in wood. Another way is to cut a slot in end of bolt for screw driver to keep from spinning.

Do you have an engine check light on? If so go to auto parts store such as Autozone or O"Reillys to get code read. No code mean or could mean bad plug. I just reread post that you do have engine check light! Odd are there is a bad coil pack. Find a Ford truck dealer, even though I don't care for dealers.

RE: Selinoid

Have you had a chance to look into problem? Here is a thought. Check to see what system the Big Boy latching relay disconnects. Then identify the other relay that keeps failing. Larger 50 amp rigs commonly have 200 amp relays where smaller rigs utilize 100 amp. Installing the wrong amperage can cause premature failure. Locate the starter, trace the large battery cable back to it's source. Trace the small wire from starter back toward the front of the rig.

RE: Selinoid

Maybe the "ignition solenoid" is the starter relay and the starter is not disengaging. Might have to trace some wires or get the wiring diagram for the rig.

RE: Can't find battery 2014 Forrester Class C

Yes, it matters. Look closely at the existing connections. Ground on one battery should go to frame, positive on other battery should go to the 12 volt DC distribution panel. You should connect solar input in the same locations. If batteries are not connect in that manner, you should revise them to connect in that way.
