RE: Selling 2018 F150 to upgrade to 2022 F150 - worth it or not?

Sure is nice to have a F150 and a F350 DRW parked in the barn. Old but low mileage and paid for. Those trucks original cost was about 1/2 what a 2022 would cost and will do the job just as well——might not smell as good but close. Anyway keep your truck.

RE: Crossing into Canada

You obviously don't live in the sticks where a computer is useless as is a cell phone. I am right on the edge of one of those dead zones and there are many more in this country today. My cell phone is iffy as is my computer but most of the time they both work. We had a trip planned to Canada before Covid hit and we have pretty much decided to wait till they come around up there or stay home. Its not like we are coming from some third world country--yet.

RE: Considering first DP - any advice?

You need to ask him how hot the engine temp was on a long up hill pull. I had to pull over on the 7 mile pull up Fancy Gap in Virginia on 2 different occasions because it was hot. I had a regular car then but that 300hp was just gutless for me. The 330 is ok and will top the same hill at 55 with the car on a Featherlite trailer. I have had DPs since 1997 even a Monaco Dynasty with 4 slides and 450hp. I hated that thing and only kept it a year. Lots of pros and cons for them all but no matter what a higher end unit beats an entry level every time. Good luck.

RE: Considering first DP - any advice?

300hp might be good for flat land but the one I had wouldn't get out of its own way and it was in a much smaller unit. 330hp is good but will struggle if you are towing something in the mountains. I currently have a 36ft Monaco with a turned up 330 and it does pretty good. That 300 isn't much in a bus.

RE: Eastbound

I have been to Charleston a few times and always stayed at the Ladison KOA. Not a fancy park but easy run right to down town Charleston. Last time we were there we put 450 mi on our Smart car touring. Plenty of room for our DP towing the Smart.

RE: Deisel handling

Unless something changed a gasser is no where near a DP. Then to there are some sorry entry level DPs. All 3 of my DPs have been at the upper end of the class and no gas model comes close in comparison, not even close.

RE: In need of opinions, thank you

I am MB poor--have 3. Recently one of the key fobs stopped opening the doors of the Smart car. DW got it fixed as I refused after MB said $275+. I don't know what she paid. Its helpful to know how to fix them, MB, yourself. I have had them for over 50 years and can assure you that if it was done at the dealer you paid to much. That check engine light can come on if the gas cap is loose, defective, or gone. Dealer will charge to tighten it LOL! Right now it is hard to get real MB parts, I said real.

RE: Temp Reg. Question Buying from out of state in California

Chill I understand your reluctance to do something devious but I did just that from CA to FL, from Chicago to Dallas, and Nashville to Baltimore + several shorter trips. Never had a problem. Like I said as often as this situation comes up States need to step up and do something about it

RE: Temp Reg. Question Buying from out of state in California

I have had to drive one home without tags several times. You would think as often as this situation happens states would address it in some way.

RE: Winter 2022/2023 trip plans changed!

I have one of those reunions this weekend up on the Ohio river in WV. 400mi one way in my DP. Was on a 500mi one way this past week with diesel hovering around $6.00. But since I am the oldest I am expected to attend while others can't travel 10 mi to participate. I am lucky to have the money and the health to be there. You be careful

RE: Tire longevity

You talk as ignorant as you read--I don't think he said he USED them for 14 years anyway, only that they were that old. I guess you are just "Mr Perfect"

RE: Campground availability on shorter notice

I to spent some time in NC and TN mountains last year, Pigeon Forge twice, Ashville NC, Hendersonville NC and never once had a reservation more than a couple of days in advance. Was also up through WV, PA, MD, VA then South Myrtle Beach twice, Gulf coast of FL twice, East coast of FL and back home. Always had nice spots (right on the beach at Myrtle twice)and never got turned away anywhere. I don't stay in State parks etc. Leaving in a couple of days for Bristol TN with no reservations so we will see how that goes. By the way if the price of fuel is holding you back you are in the wrong pass time.

RE: Traveling via B&B/hotel vs RV

Before I retired I had worked and traveled all over the world. Never had a RV out of North America. I hated living out of a suitcase and even though I always tried to stay in the best hotels some were dumps at best. Even stayed in some hostels in Europe. Its just the way it was back then. Now that DP in our barn has served us well and continues to. The only disadvantage to me as mentioned above is around big cities which I try to avoid. But sleeping in our own bed, going to our own bathroom, getting a drink when I wish, not having to pack everything up every time we move. Thats priceless. But everyone needs to do what they LIKE and live your own life.

RE: What should I do if my EPDM roof turns black

Makes me wonder---everything around here turns black from the atmosphere. Side walk, roof, anything light colored and horizontal. I wash and re-coat the DP roof and pressure wash the sidewalks every couple of years. Probably air pollution drifting from the cities out here in the country--LOL.

RE: Empty parks with no open sites.

And no obligation to the people who in good faith paid for, and gave their money, for a spot that you can then give to someone else? This idea would make me feel like a common thief. This must be designed for those that routinely show up without a reservation. I am done here as since in all these years of camping I have NEVER experienced this situation. Everyone be safe and have fun.
