RE: Atwood furnace not igniting

Can you pull the control board out and take it to an RV shop to get tested? Sounds like the same issue that I had last year with my Atwood furnace. Ended up being the control board was done. It’s easy to take it out. Good YouTube video: Here

RE: replacing sofa with a love seat recliner

I replaced my sofa/hide a bed with a love seat leather recliner and love it. I looked at RV dealers but they wanted way too much money for the Thomas Payne loveseats so I went with a no name brand from a furniture store for $400. Very happy with the new love seat. Picture It also gave me room to add the small end table in the picture

RE: RV Parks charging for water use?

There are several RV Parks in Yuma, AZ. that have started to charge for water. They are long term snowbird parks. With the poor city water quality (extreme hardness) it had better be good water if they are charging for it. I certainly wouldn’t pay for Yuma city water. I’d be tempted to haul the RV to the corner water stand and get good water for 50 cents for 5 gallons.

RE: Apex front strip lights

I just replaced my docking light on my fifth wheeel (a shitty 191 incandescent bulb fixture) with 2 - 36” LED strip lights. I ordered the LED strip lights from SuperbrightLED in an IP67 waterproof style and bought some 3M 2 sided tape at O’Reillys. I applied the strip lights under the bunk and wired into the existing dock light wiring. I used clear silicone to clean up the install by sealing the strip lights on the sides (rounds off the exposures). Looks great, lighting is excellent now.

RE: What should the PSI be in the trailer?

I have G rated Sailun tires and I have weighed my trailer fully loaded then use the manufacturers specs to figure out what tire pressure I need. I’ve never run 110 psi in the tires. Usually 90 fully loaded. Tires are wearing perfectly! In a single set up at 110 psi = 4,080 lbs per tire 4 tires = 16,320 lbs (on axles)

RE: Truck mounted air compressor

If you want to fill tires with an onboard compressor you will need one with a high percentage duty cycle. In short, Duty Cycle is the amount of time that a compressor can be run in a full cycle (typically one hour) that includes the compressor’s run time and rest time. Select VIAIR compressors are equipped with a thermal overload protector to protect the unit in case of over duty cycle or high temperature operation. Have a look at Viair

RE: 2 Bedroom 5th Wheel for Adult Visitors

Have you looked at any toy haulers that have bed/s in garage area and door that separates garage from living area?

RE: Atwood 8531IVDCLP L/D

I was having issues with my 8531-IV DCLP (replaced squealing fan motor on startup, ran good for 2 days, then wouldn’t light, fan wouldn’t come on). I took the board down to local RV parts store and they tested the ignition board for me and found it to be defective. Put the new board in and it’s working great. That’s where I would start.

RE: Looking for dog friendly park in Yuma, AZ

I’ve stayed at Riverfront RV Park 2 years, they have a dog area and a non-dog area. The sites aren’t big (large enough for 38’ trailer and a stall for your vehicle and a bit). The nice thing is you are beside the Wetlands Park with trails (paved and non-paved) beside the Colorado River, plus areas to throw a ball for your pet, dog poop bags supplied. Worth a look.

RE: Blackwater Tank Question

I had an issue where I pulled my black tank valve and nothing came out, despite pouring the water to it, so I used Septobac and put 1 package in with a bunch of water and it ate the solids up in less than a week and got things flowing. I now use it regularly in my tank.

RE: Do we need weight distribution hitch?

Why go get a weight-distributing hitch? Simple, it improves safety. With the weight-distributing hitch properly set up, your load is evenly distributed over the axles on the trailer which gives you more stability and control. It also gives your tow vehicle and trailer a more level ride. A squatting truck and trailer hookup doesn’t just look bad, it can be dangerous. When your tow vehicle and trailer squat, your brakes and steering won’t react quite as well nor will your headlights illuminate the road right in front of you (they will point higher into the sky). Also, minor bumps and dips are amplified and you can more easily bottom out. Finally, the trailer can sway more, as well has have more body roll. While weight-distributing hitch usage is pretty well known to be low, the reality is it should be much higher. Just because you think your truck can “handle it” doesn’t mean it will when you need it most like in bad weather or in an emergency situation. If you ever have an accident do you really want to give the other lawyer any advantage as to liability? What would a reasonable person do?

RE: Bicycle Transport

I lean my mountain bike up against my dining table (with a pillow to protect bike and table), then use a tie down around the frame of the bike and around the base of the table (which is bolted to the floor). It works well for me.
