RE: Spring Shakedown Trip cancelled

I'm taking my rig out of storage a month early to use as a home office/study area. It's going to cost me ~$60 to heat for the month, but that's cheap for the sanity it will preserve. Could you write off the $60 on your taxes as a "Business Expense: since it is for work? Just kidding. Sounds like a good plan and way to use the rig at these times

Spring Shakedown Trip cancelled

I am sure I am not the only one in this boat, but it looks like my April shakedown trip will be cancelled. Usually within the next couple weeks I am getting the RV de-winterized and ready to go out. I have more time and may still do that, but I am hoping to be able to go out this summer as planned. And I will use my RV for quarentine if needed also. Stay safe out there everyone.

Pre trip routines

Besides the obvious like everything you do for hooking up, hitching and final checks on the truck and trailer. What other things are on your must do (non negotiable) list before you leave on a trip. Mine are: Wash all windows in the truck (visibility is key when towing) Wash truck and camper. I hate traveling in a dirty vehicle Have a full water bottle for me and the wife and kids Pack everything the night/day before. Leave the travel day for last minute items Vacuum the house, run disheasher. Then I don't have to do it when I get back.

RE: Murphy Bed vs. Separate Bedroom

For us we voted against a Murphey bed. I stay up later then the wife and kids, ,so it is nice to still have a couch to sit on while they are asleep.

RE: What do you want in a campground?

I look for A level or somewhat level site. Sites that aren't right on top of each other. Also amenities for my kids, cause let's face it when they are entertained then my camping trip is more relaxing.

Garbage disposal?

Is it possible to add a garbage disposal to an rv sink? Obviously you would have to cap off the piece that usually runs to dishwasher and run a dedicated wire to a switch . Can and rv gray water system handle it? Has anyone tried this?

Tie switch into existing light

My Current TT has a switch on the control pad to turn on the over head lights in the living area, but that is the only switch. The other lights (all LED) have a little button in the middle to press and turn on. I was wondering if it is possible and how easy it would be to tie the light in my bedroom and the light in our bunkroom to a switch on the wall? I want to mount one to the entertainment center on the other side of the bedroom and one on the wall coming into the bunkroom (as my kids cannot reach the light on the ceiling). I don't do much electrical but is it pretty straight forward? Can it be done? Has anyone ever done it? Thanks.

RE: Stuff in your storage compartment?

Maybe a drying rack for wet swimsuits or clothes. I keep various cleaners (window, heavy duty cleaner, grille cleaner, caulk and gun, rags, etc....) Misquito fighters (tiki torches and fuel, citronella candles, lighter. If you have an outdoor kitchen you will want cooking stuff. Wheel chock Anything you need to hook up and unhook the trailer. We store our bike helmets in our storage bin and a pump A 5 gallon bucket (you never know when you will need it)

clay bar and wax

Looking to detail the rig. How do the exterior of the RV's do with a clay bar, is it ok or too abrasive?. Also is there a certain type of wax to use? It is a fiberglass sidewall, Not azdel (however you spell it). Any other recommendations on detailing and RV?

RE: A simple idea

Two more suggestions: first, tell her how great she's doing, as often as you can. Pretty soon, you will both start to believe it. ;) Second, don't undertake a complicated backing-up job when you are hungry or thirsty. We often "snack up" as we are nearing our destination to build up our blood sugar for the upcoming ordeal. This is key. Plus snacks keep the kids in their seats while backing in also. Sort of like the"FOrgive me for everything I said while parking the camper"

RE: Any tips for installing a cover, without a roof ladder?

I had this problem. I used An 8ft ladder. I took the cover and run rolled it towards the front or back depending on how I fold it. Then as I unfold it I place 5 or 10lb weight plates to hold the top secure as I unfold it over the edges. Then remove them when it is all in place.

Here's the manual page for weight distribution setup. Awesome thanks so much

RE: Adjusting Weight Distribution Hitch

It's hard to say. If the holes in the hitch are exactly 2 inches apart. And your lift is exactly 2 inches, then there are no other adjustments necessary. But unfortunately we are not in a perfect world and I imagine you're going to have to set up the hitch again. Forgive my ignorance. How do I set it up again? The dealer did it originally

Adjusting Weight Distribution Hitch

I am in the process of adding larger wheels and a minor 2in lift to my truck. My question is this. I have the equalizer weight distribution hitch. I am going to adjust the ball down one notch. My questions are: Do I need to adjust the height of the arms that hold the bars that are attached to the trailer. Are there any other adjustments/tips I should be aware of to dial it in properly?

RE: A/C on 20 amp

We have guest in now and are plugged into a dedicated 20 amp circuit. We are running Ac it will cut off when gets to temp but won't cut on. Would this be a voltage issue or thermostat malfunction?

Entry level trailer what qualifies.

I always hear the term "entry level" when folks talk about travel trailer. What makes/qualifies a trailer as entry level? Or is it just matter of brand's or a model within each brand, features or lack there of?

Storing tools for the RV

We all know how important it is to carry tools so we can modify and fix any issues with our RV. What is the best place to store the toola' in RV or in the truck (also the tow vehicle). I keep mine in a toolbox in the bed to the truck as when I have the RV I tow it with the truck. What does everyone else do/ prefer?

outdoor kitchen fridge question

I have a kystone passport 2920bh with the outdoor kitchen and mini fridge. The fridge unfortunatly does not run off propane. We like to bookdock alot, and i was thinking of hooking a 1000 watt inverter to the batteries (dual set up) to run it and have cold drinks when we have no power. My questions are .... - Will the 1000 watt inverter be enough to run it ( i will fuse and add a switch to the line, and it will run off the dual batteries). - Also about how much life will I get out of the batteries with it running off the inverter before I have to charge batteries. Any other solutions also? Thanks
