RE: Water hose too short?...again....?

Why didn't EYE think of this...ever have to s-t-r-e-t-c-h that water hose and are just a wee bit messed up? The new collapsible water hoses will take that scenario away. I am on an Off-Road camping FB page and someone asked the question this morning....Amazon to the rescue! Gary HauptA 25' stretch water hose is still just 25'. If a 25' regular hose won't fit, a 25' stretch hose isn't going to be any better. That would be the case yes. My white hose is not 25ft. And the space devoted it to is is substantial,,,not actually, but the roll is a constant p.i.a. Not Having that would be a huge bonus..and then the added footage. Gary

RE: Water hose too short?...again....?

Hopefully the stretchable hose will not impart any taste or smell to the water. We always fill our RV with water thru a white hose and filter and carry an extra hose for such instances but have never needed it. I don't connect at a park. I draw water as needed when needed so water sitting in the black hose shouldn't be an issue. Good thought tho. Gary

RE: Ignore the rules...get the fines.

So did they make land fall in Canada or come in contact with anyone resident in Canada? The article is not clear why the RCMP were in contact with them... Boat one....They entered Canada and claimed they were on their way to Alaska. They weren't. Boat two..was a whale watching vessel. Suffered the same fate. Gary

RE: US/Canada border still closed.

No problem but it got me to thinking about it. They would both need an additional boat to do the exchange so each would either need a helper or bring a dingy to get out or get back. If they made the exchange right on the border (pretty easy with GPS) and both reported to their respective customs on return, would it be illegal? Also, would they both have to self quarantine for 14 days after they got back? Beats me. For all practical purposes, if all parties reported to their respective agencies that should satisfy reporting requirements as long as their vessel was available for further inspection if that was required by U.S. CBP or Canadian CBSA. As far as the 14 day quarantine, I have no idea. Not a Federal requirement. Seems lately these orders / requirements are issued by state or city authorities. Good discussion. Lakeside I am not trying to be P.I.A...but, you are talking US. In Canada? The quarantine law is indeed a Federal Law. And willingly enforced. Gary Haupt

RE: Did you notice..........

Can't speak for any place else, but here in BC you cannot get a camping spot for love nor money. Anywhere within driving distance of a city is packed..and forestry sites..packed. any lake...packed....and any wide spot on a back road has a camper in it. The other thing...most of these campers are new to the game. And how did they become campers extraordinaire? They went and bought...everything and anything that will sleep people. Tents..tent trailers, trucks n campers, A, B, C's...and few (none) had the cash, so...debt. Like crazy debt. I am on an off-road camping FB page in BC and everyday, all day....where can I find camping? How do I get fresh water when camping in my new....? How and where do I dump? Gary Haupt

RE: Remember the bike box?

What a great idea ! With room to spare. Might want to make sure it tight . It's tight. Double lipped, double attached. Gary

RE: Pet Peeves long road trip

You opened the door..so, I will step thru. I have a lifetime of professional driving and as time went on, dealing with accidents became a much more dollar driven science. It went from...who was at fault to...was it preventable. And there...right there, is the defining view. Was it preventable. Accidents..no one wins. Injuries..so what if you are in the right? The injuries sustained can change your life. Will change your life. Without a long winded lecture that no one is going to read...try this...you see an upcoming situation. You are in the right. But..a potential accident is now in view. If you get off the go pedal..if you move over..if you throw on the 4-ways...if you take action to prevent, never mind being 'right'. Look what you gain. One of the tings is less anger. Less frustration. Taking control of a situation is key. You can do that, by driving to prevent. A 4 way stop...you know what happens, right? 3 or 4 vehicles all get there at the same time...let them go thru. Control the intersection. Control the outcome. Same same traffic circles...control the environment. You win. Gary Haupt

RE: Portable Jump Starter

I have had and carried...and every time I went to use it, was dead. They are just a cheap wet cel that doesn't hold a charge. Needs to be left plugged in. I now carry a battery charger and will use THAT if I have a dead starter batt. I also carry long cables to beg a jump if I need that. Gary Haupt

RE: Remember the bike box?

JRScooby...the gen is a baby Yamaha and it rides in storage now..and the chairs have a place under already, too. This was mostly just spiffballing. Before I do anything I will just dry-fit and see what it looks like, etc. Murphy wins..everytime. Gary

RE: Remember the bike box?

I assume those are brake/turn/backup lights across the bottom. Put the license plate on the door. When you run the light for the plate, put one on the inside as well to assist with loading/unloading at night. I 'think' the plate is going to go on the left side of the box, in a frame. Recall the old pick-ups? An interior light...that, is a good idea. Thanks. I am also going to add turn signals/running lights to the rear side of the box. Gary

RE: Remember the bike box?

Looks good to me. Think I would add a shelf. Someplace to carry couple hooks, pulley and rope. Might be useful to get tire down and up if need to use it. I can reach the tire standing...to actually undo it or put it back, I will likely need some kind of stool. I have one of them thar plastic folding ones...I may need to upgrade to an actual small folding step thing. Because the box is frameless and is so long..it will damage the top if I am walking on it. Really tho? It won't be me taking the tire down. Gary

RE: Remember the bike box?

A shelf....yes, for sure. My thought now is to put the shelf low, and let the bikes sit on that..leaving the lower area for 'stuff'. My Yammy 1000 inverter, a fuel can, the sewer hose. Thoughts welcome. Gary
