RE: Upper Peninsula

Beautiful campground and area but not exactly the UP. We will be there next week for a few days. I will recommend Indigo Bluffs RV Park and Resort in the Traverse City/Sleeping Bear Dunes area. They have everything from tent sites to luxury RV sites. Would definitely stay there again.

RE: Water damage repair

Honestly...... Run away fast. The damage you see is only a small part of what is actually there.

RE: Bunk house conundrum and older kids

We ended up pulling the trigger on a lightly used 2018 Kodiak 288BHSL. It is a traditional single slide rear bunk model. It has a pair of bunks in the right rear that is big enough for an adult but nothing that I would call sleeping in luxury. The bunk area is small enough that I felt like we didn't lose all that much living space for when its just the wife and I. In the end the condition and amenities of this travel trailer were the deciding factor (auto leveling and 50amp)which are not all that common to find on a used TT....

Sailun tires for the TV

So by now we are really familiar with how well the Sailun brand tires do on our trailers. I towed with them for years with great results. Has anyone used them on their tow vehicle? They have a LT275/70r18 tire called a Terramax HLT that looks like a bargain if they are as good as the trailer tires.

RE: new TT what do you change first if anything?

If I have the spare money the first thing I do is swap out the tires to a better quality set. You can still sell the take off tires as long as they are new to recoup some of the money spent.

RE: Tote question

RE: Tote question

If you always dump when your black tank is at 3/4's full, you should be fine. Otherwise, spring for a full hook up site with sewer. I personally hate those totes so that's what we do. unless we book way ahead of time FHU sites are often hard to come by around here

Tote question

"Blue" tote question from someone who has never used one. Lets say your rv black tank holds 50 gallons and your blue tote holds 42 gallons. Is there anyway to know ahead of time before the tote is full of poo so that you can close your RV's valve before the tote is over full?

RE: Tips how to sell TT

Also at our campground I saw TT unit that look like it had slides straight across from each other. I think I’d like a large open area. Anyone know who makes a unit like that. ThankS Pretty much every manufacturer offers a floor plan with opposing slides...

RE: I-69 in Michigan

Actually Davison is where I was coming from. The only damage was a lanp shade that didnt survive the trip.. Unfortunately I have to come up to Flushing/Davison in July. There is no good side road to take as an alternate either or I would do that. I guess I will make sure things are battened down and tires are inflated properly and go slow. I know 85-90 is a common speed for people there, glad I moved out.

I-69 in Michigan

Is there a hiway in worse condition anywhere? I have never been so beat up by a rough hiway in my life. Towing my TT from Flint through Lansing to Marshall Mi it felt like my spine was going to come through my head. How in the world did we let our hiway system get in such disrepair.....

RE: Exterior Discoloration

If it is originating from the inside I would think paint may be your only answer. My bigger concern would be what is actually causing this and are you really just ignoring a bigger problem. I have a 2008 FunFinder Xtra Toy Hauler. White fiberglass exterior. Last year we had a water leak in the roof at the right rear corner. It was properly repaired and hasn't leaked since. As a result of the leak some water must have got into the wall. Now there is a brown color coming through the exterior. I figure it is from either cardboard or plywood that is part of the wall construction. Apparently, it got wet from the leak and the color is coming to the exterior. I have tried various bleach products to neutralize it, but not working. Anyone have any ideas for getting rid of this discoloration? TIA

RE: Tongue weight issue on new toy hauler

I will say that so far I am impressed that Forest River seems to be taking this so seriously. The Maverick is rear engined right? Are you loading it in backwards or forward facing? It could make a huge difference.

RE: Guess we found our new rig... Comments and thoughts?

They are not stab jacks. The trailer has Ground Control auto leveling. The jacks are weight bearing. When you retract the front leveling jacks the tongue jack will lower first. I had this system on my 5th wheel and it worked very well. Is it an optical illusion or does the tongue jack look retracted and the trailer is being held up by the stab jacks?

RE: Determining Value of Used Travel Trailer

I heard this once and it does appear to be pretty accurate. If you go to NADA and search for your trailer and take the difference between the low average and the high average then take that difference and subtract it from the low average that will get you close. We are going to downsize our travel trailer and looking a trading it in. What is the best way to determine what a fair trade in value is? It is a 2013 Outdoors Timber Ridge 250RDS. Thank you

RE: Guess we found our new rig... Comments and thoughts?

Very fair comment. I am hoping that if I stay diligent on my maintenance i will stay ahead of any major issues. Its no guarantee I know but I really don't like the look or the work required to keep an aluminum sided camper looking good. I have been looking at fiberglass skin TT's and I've come to the conclusion (MHO) that I won't buy one unless its over Azdel.
