RE: Things to do around Kingman, Az

Go down to Bullhead and Laughlin or Lake Havasu. Visit Oatman if you haven't been there.

RE: Trouble with California

Well at least Michigans forests aren't burning to the ground due to total mismanagement. I wonder how that's hurts California economy overall. I guess they can't protect everything. This is the most ignorant post I've seen so far on the internet.

RE: Trouble with California

"I've seen too many videos and television reports of cops planting evidence and framing people." Yup. That Ag inspector is going to plant a maggot infested apple in your RV so they can lock you up in prison for 20 years. :R

RE: Push to privatize National Park Service campgrounds

The report ot a moderator button still is FUBAR so I'm bringing this to the moderators ATTENTION MODERATOR before is devolves into a political furball. This is not political. This is an informative article that should be of interest to practically every member of this group.

Push to privatize National Park Service campgrounds

I don't mind having concessionaires run some of the National Parks, as it is being done now. However, I don't want to see our National Parks turned into garish Disneyland-like attractions. I realize the Park Service is drastically underfunded and in need of billions for backlogged maintenance and repairs, but I rather see fees raised gradually to cover expenses instead of having private companies destroy the character of the national parks. From the article: Seniors are one group that might be hit hard by the policies, if adopted. The memo argues that the 50 percent discount for seniors should apply only to base campsite fees and encourages NPS to introduce “new senior fee blackout periods during peak season periods.” Committee pushes National Park Service to privatize campgrounds

"...the question is how much of our “rights” do we lose to protect against the possibility of a fire?" Since when having a campfire become a right?

RE: UPDATED: Arizona (not Nevada) roads question

After driving 7,900 miles across the US and Canada this spring, I found highways in NY and NJ to be in very poor condition. I may be biased but the I-40 through AZ is 10 times better than some highways in other states. The stretch of I-40 between the AZ stateline to where it ends in Barstow is in very good condition.

RE: 2000 watt Champion Inverter Gen worked great

I had a 2K Champion for a couple of years and used it in 7,000+ feet elevation several times. It ran fine but it struggled quite a bit running the microwave at that altitude.

RE: Big Brother- Tag on your TC?

If your rear license plate was covered you'll probably never get a bill in the mail. Like you, we were also in Eastern Canada this spring and drove through a couple of toll roads in NY. AZ also has rear plates only and I have one of those fake vanity front AZ plates on the moho that reads RD TRIP. My two distinctly different plates probably confounded the NY road folks because it took a while before I got a bill in the mail for both tolls totaling $26.

RE: Late check out

We often arrive early to campgrounds and RV parks and most of the time we are allowed in. However, we always leave before checkout time.

RE: Small Class C - Mercedes Diesel vs. Chevy Gasoline?

You won't find a walk around queen bed in the new MB based Views/Navions. The prior years had a 24G model that had a rear slide out that had a "semi-walkaround" queen bed. Search for Winnebago View/Navion 24G - there might be a "gently used" one out there somewhere. Don't fear the Sprinter. It's a solid chassis/drive train option, if you can get over the diesel thing. The only GMC options will be the so called "Super Cs" and they're diesels, too. Much larger/longer than your preferred length. Winnebago still offers the Navion 24G model with its "walkround" bed.

RE: Minnie Winnie or Fuse/View?

Owned a Minnie Winnie 22R on a E450 chassis. Great 24 foot C class and got about 8 MPG. Currently own a Winnebago Navion 24V on a MB Sprinter chassis. Great C class with a larger and more open cab that gives the illusion of being in a small A class. Considerably more expensive than a Minnie Winnie on a Ford Chassis. I get about 14 MPG. You can't go wrong with either one of these units.

RE: Jay Leno predicts demise of vehicles running on gas.

Nowhere did I say to add another vehicle to the existing household fleet. In case I wasn't clear, I meant an ICE vehicle can be replaced with an EV for short commutes and errands. It goes without saying this scenario won't work for everyone.

RE: Jay Leno predicts demise of vehicles running on gas.

Many households have 2 or more vehicles, and having an EV for short commutes or running errands makes a lot of sense, in my opinion. And just like some of you here that are always preaching about buying used RVs versus new, you can do the same with EVs and hybrids. Prices on 3 year-old EVs and hybrids: 2016 Nissan Leaf with 84 to 107 mile range - $10,991 in Autotrader 2016 Tesla Model S with 208 to 315 mile range - $44,600 in Autotrader 2016 Chevy Volt hybrid with 53 mile battery range and unlimited on gas - $15,697 in Autotrader. My personal choice would be the Chevy Volt since you can have the best of both worlds and not have to suffer from range anxiety. Too bad GM killed it.

RE: Jay Leno predicts demise of vehicles running on gas.

An EV makes sense for many households. "According to ABC News, the average American drives 16 miles to work each way, with a daily commute totaling nearly an hour round trip." How Far Do Americans Drive to Work on Average?

RE: Thinking of a Mercedes Class C

I owned a C on a Ford chassis and now own a C with the MB Sprinter chassis. They are both good, in their own ways. You can't directly compare them to each other as they are apples and oranges. It's up the individual to determine which is one is best for his/her needs. Many of the Sprinter mohos can tow 5,000 lbs.
