RE: Outrageous CA registration fee!

Teleman, before throwing a hissy fit about your CA registration fee, you should have checked to see what your neighbors are paying. If not mistaken, NV is about 2% of purchase price/value and AZ is about 1.85%. When I moved to AZ four years ago my registration fees almost doubled. I know it's fashionable for some of you in this forum to bash CA every time you have a chance, but unless registration fees have gone up considerably in the last four years, CA's fees are lower than in some other states.

RE: “Pathetic quality”: RV dealers are fed up...

As long as the RV manufacturers continue to pay "piece work" the employees will continue to produce shoddy products. And, no, the prices of RVs will not double if employees get paid in a different manner, as someone suggested. Labor is only one component of the price of an RV. As the 4-year-old Reuters article indicated, some RV workers were making $60K a year back then, which wasn't bad for Indiana.

RE: Where to find toads for sale

What are you looking for in a towed? Is there a web site telling us what rv you have and what you want a towed to do. Thats enought of the snarky answers, there isn't a specific site that lists towables for sale. If you can do the work to convert a vehicle to a towed, there is a yearly listing of vehicles that can be towed four down. I believe it is by MoHo magazine, it is part of Affinity. If you can't do the converrsion, there are folks that can. Most mobile rv techs for instance. One thing about milage is that most new towables have electronic speedos. They do not show the miles towed. What a used towed's speedo shows may be much less than the total miles the vehicle may have endured. New vehicles that I would use are way over the weight I would like to tow. My current towed is a 2009 GMC Canyon and is over 4000 lbs. The only good thing about it is that it is towable four down without any mods to the vehicle. I gave my Daughter my 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara because I wanted a 4x4 truck that was towable. I am going to buy it back and give her the Canyon for a down payment on a new car. I'll buy a 2wd F150 beater truck DD and keep the Suzi for towing. Oh, by the way, it is my wife who wants the towed to be a 4x4 and I want a truck for z DD. I towed for several years in the past. I'm open to different vehicles, provided they're newer and small to medium size, and within reasonable distance from where I live.

RE: Where to find toads for sale

Thanks for the tips. The Escapees' website has nothing current and FMCA only has one high-mileage listing with no date.

Where to find toads for sale

Is there a website where people list their toads for sale? We are looking for a toad and prefer finding one that's already setup for towing.

RE: 12 volt refrigerator

W had a Norcold 12 volt compressor fridge in a Winnebago Navion we recently sold, and we loved it. I was a bit apprehensive when we bought the coach since I knew nothing about 12 volt compressor fridges. The fridge gets cold faster than absorption fridges, it doesn't have to be leveled and outside temps don't affect the fridge temp. The motorhome came from factory with 200 watts of solar to help the batteries when parked. We boondocked often and never had a problem with the batteries.

RE: Jeep Grand Cherokee, experiences, thoughts, opinions?

We own a 2014 JGC Limited 4X4 with the V6, and have had no problems in the last 7 years. Just recently, the check engine light came on and the dealer determined it has something to do with the gasoline vapor from the gas tank. We were told it will be an inexpensive fix.

Free Wally receiver with any antenna purchased from Dish

I get emails from Dish offering discounts on bundles every so often. Typically, Dish will discount the Wally about $20 when ordering a bundle. I just received an email with an offer of a free Wally receiver. You can't beat that price. The offer ends midnight 6/22/2021. If you place an order, choose your bundle and use code: FREEWALLY.

Thanks for the comments. I pulled the trigger and ordered the unit from Amazon. The current Amazon price is $251.

Hughes Autoformers PWD50-EPO with Auto Shutoff

Does anyone here have one of these? If so, what are your thoughts? They seem to have good reviews and they're attractively priced. I'm thinking about taking the plunge and buying one. Hughes Power Watchdog RV Surge Protector

RE: Do you run house AC while on the road

A class C has a small cab that is shaded by the overhead bed and you probably will never need the house AC to help keeping the cab cool. The cab in a class A is like a fish bowl and you will get more sun and heat coming in. We only had to use the house ACs in a class A DP we owned on rare occasions since the dash air was almost useless. You should get enough heat from the engine heater to keep you warm in the cab without the need of running the furnace. As far as the house goes, keeping it cool or warm without the house ACs or furnace depends on personal comfort level and ambient temps. The few times we had passengers in the house we ran the house ACs for their comfort.
