RE: Cost of RVing

That information must be atleast 5 years old. Even with discounts, it's tough to find those rates.

RE: how do you follow weather on the road

We have found Wind to be an issue at times. Especially TX, CO, UT. Windy app seems to be pretty accurate.

RE: How long to bring slide in and drive off?

Because we move around often, we set up and break down often. For us, more time is spent on putting away periphery items, rather than closing up the slide. Interior items all have a place and most are put away and secured after each use. We do fresh water fill instead of hooking up to water sources. We don't hook up to the sewer unless we need to dump, then put it away. So when we leave it's only unhooking the electric and sometimes cable. You can make it work with a bit of planning.

RE: How long to bring slide in and drive off?

You should be able to do a "mock" set up and break down with any dealer so you know. Each model may vary a bit. Some models have two slideouts. Part of our breakdown is fold blanket & stow our pillows. Put away coffeemaker, etc.

RE: How long to bring slide in and drive off?

We have a Tiffin Wayfarer 2019 FW Model with full Wall Slide.Old Version of RW. With two of us, break down is 4-5 minutes doing inside and outside tasks without rushing.Super Easy. Set up is a bit longer. We are minimalists. Almost 6 years Full Timing, 2 1/2 of those years in the Wayfarer.

RE: Tips/Tricks/info on Full-time RV'ing For Beginners

While there is quite a lot of information available, there are basics that will apply to most people. One of the first things I learned from this forum 6-7 years ago is that the "transition" is going to be different for each person. Many variables contribute to the success or failure of a Full Time venture. After full timing almost 6 years, I believe one of the most important aspects people need to address well before the nuts and bolts of the process is if Full Time RVing is what you really and truly what you want. Read as much as you can, positive and negative on every aspect of how this will affect your life and future. Not everyone comes into this with eyes wide open.

RE: Is a toad necessary with a small motor home?

We have a 26' Class C. We travel Full Time on the road since December 2014. We do not Tow a car. We generally travel to National Park and Natural areas. For the most part stay away from large cities. We can break down/set up our site in under 10 minutes so using the RV to get around is easy. Its easy to find parking our rig fits in. The 1-3 times a year that we need a car, we most often rent from Enterprise. If the campground is located within 10 miles, they pick you up. Pre-covid the cost per day was usually $20-25.00 per day. Many folks want the freedom to have their car available without breaking down the rig. You may want to try a couple of trips near home to test out what works best for you.

RE: GPS rerouting due to accident

Google Maps has saved us significant delays many times over the past 5 years of Full Time Travel. Only once can I recall that it re-routed to an equally bad route. Both routes had bad accidents... The tie breaker decision for us is if we see many Truckers taking the alternate route, we follow the trucks. We like the odds.

RE: Wayfarer

Ordered our 2019 Tiffin Wayfarer FW in 2018. Fantastic experience from the start. I cannot speak from personal experience on the dealers listed above by Wayfarer. I have heard many positive and happy client reviews about: Davis - Memphis TN Ingrams - Montgomery AL Good Luck. I hope you enjoy your Tiffin Wayfarer as much as we love ours.

RE: Reservations

Our experience has been you need to make a reservation near (within 25 miles) any popular Tourist destination. A few places we have been to seemed to be empty at 4 or 5pm. By 8pm, all spaces were full. Don't know if those folks had reservations or not. Other than that, we have not had a problem.

RE: travel during covid

For our June through August "Covid wilderness travels" , we found it rather easy to utilize grocery pick up services with a bit of advance planning. Walmart is located almost everywhere and many major chains as well. They put the groceries in your RV on the steps. With a bit of planning, we did not go into a grocery store the entire trip.

RE: travel during covid

Postponed a 4 month trip to Alaska that we'd been planning for 5 years. Enjoyed wilderness camping in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming instead. It was pretty easy to distance from others in the RV, feel fortunate that we could do that.

RE: Newbie with a Dutch Oven

I suggest you do a couple of practice runs at home before camping. Old hand mitts, A lid lifter and chimney starter are helpful. Learn to balance the amount of heat on top can be tricky. Start simple making sure you plan plenty of time and have enough charcoal briquettes or coals. A Fruit Cobbler or garlic pull apart bread to start.

RE: alaska 2021 ???

We have been thinking similar thoughts. Our plans to go this year had been 5 years in the making. Lots of business folks in Alaska are suffering. It felt wrong to ask for a refund. When I called to cancel reservations for RV Parks and Excursions, 2 places said they were closing up the business, one was an RV Park in Canada We have commitments to our grandkids for 2021. Our new plan is Alaska 2022.

RE: Are the campgrounds full in your area?

For us, the few last minute reservations we made (within a week) have been harder than usual for East coast travel but only for popular areas. A few times we got our 3rd or 4th choice. Once we rerouted. Covid Wilderness travel from June-August from FL to ND, WY, ID & Montana I made advance reservations. Headed east visiting family August til now with 3/4 advance reservations in CO to TN, NC & SC. The few gaps were filled but took far more effort than past years. We've seen more full campgrounds than either of us can ever recall.

RE: Tiffin dealer recommendation

You might try the Tiffin Wayfarer Facebook page. A great resourceand really good folks. Some have had good experiences at a Tennessee dealership, can't remember the name. We have a 2019 Wayfarer, ordered ours from a dealer in Jacksonville FL that I would NOT recommend.

RE: Hell's Canyon and region

We stayed at Woodhead CG & Hell's Canyon in July. Recommend both, we found shade sites when we booked online. We drove the scenic route. Hell's Canyon was a bit remote. No boat tours this year, bathhouses were closed,if that matters.

RE: Convection Oven

Yes. When baking, you want to place the pan on the upper rack so it is higher. This allows the air to circulate better. We have the High Pointe brand. It works well.
