RE: Run the USA is what?

A couple of years ago when camping over labor day weekend, a class C came in, backed in their site all crooked and jumped out and setup. I was talking with them and they were traveling the country in a rented RV, they had the setup down to the minute, crooked in site was to get it level without any blocks or jacks. He said only condition was the back pointing generally south so the satellite dish worked.. They were in one day, gone the next, onward (it was just an overnighter, not one of the sites they were seeing).. They had put something like 22,000 miles on the RV over the summer all over the lower 48.

RE: GM Yukon XL Denali Transmission Temps

Check the coolant level (when cool of course), your engine temp should not behave that way unless something else is going on.. IIRC, you have a 6.2l with plenty of power. Are the fans working ok (I don't recall if you have dual electric fans or a large fan driven by belt). Perhaps water pump needs replacement or fan belt?

RE: front hitch

I ordered hitch for front of my GMC 2500HD from etrailer. Simple bolt on, already had bike rack that fits in 2" receiver.

RE: Anyone Travel with bikes inside their TRailer?

We used to carry our bikes inside leaning against couch (with cargo blanket wrapping bikes to protect the furniture), one bungee cord secured them. Now we have a front hitch with bike carrier. Sometimes the bikes don't even get taken off the carrier.. if we're somewhere that is not secure, we'll remove the seats (quick release) so as not to temp someone from taking them.

RE: Outdoor GFCI outlet trips when using electric cooktop

My wife's brother and family got rid of the propane outdoor appliances and went to all electric, they set up a table next the trailer and cook away, until a few years ago when it kept tripping the GFCI (it was on bathroom circuit, took them awhile to find it the first time).. they asked me how to figure out what is happening, I said to just run extension cord from power post to cook table.. most power posts have a 20amp outlet next the 30/50 so use it. No more problems..

Propride and Hensley are the best.

RE: 2018 GMC Sierra Towing

There is a sticky on setting up WDH. Get your weights, then go through it step by step. Some steps will be repeated.

RE: Front Cap Fading

Our 2013 has the fading, had it in 2013, factory no help. I am in the process of using the 3M compounds to polish, it looks good now, still needs final polishing and waxing. I expect it will need to be done twice a year to keep it nice... I will eventually get it painted and be done with it.

RE: Purchased TT (undisclosed salvage title came in the mail)

Don't expect anything from dealer, figure out the law regarding salvage titles in your state, then approach dealer to see if they will compensate you for the trailer having a salvage title. Keep your expectations low, stay calm. Worse case, you have a trailer that you can enjoy. Best case, dealer gives you some money back for not disclosing the salvage title. Don't get wrapped up this, or you will never enjoy the trailer. If they did a good job repairing and the trailer is solid, you have a good trailer.

RE: GM Yukon XL Denali Transmission Temps

Tru-cool 40K. Google or amazon it. I plan on getting this one for my 2011 GMC Sierra 2500HD (thermal bypass model).

RE: GM Yukon XL Denali Transmission Temps

We had a 2008 GMC Yukon XL Denali, it did get warm towing the 7k travel trailer. Once the transmission gets up to engine temp, they both climb together. We posted on this forum back then and one of the members had emailed factory and gotten a response. My own research agrees. We traded to 2011 GMC 2500HD and heavier trailer, but if we were keeping the Denali, I was going to put after market trans cooler on. This is the response they got. I was also concerned at one pointhowever and contacted GM with the question. There answer was: Good Morning! Thank you for giving me the time to do some research on your concern with the transmission temperature. I have consulted one of our dealers and am happy to inform you that I have the information you’ve requested. The normal operating temperature is between 160°F to 200°F (71°C to 93°C). For towing, the normal operating temperature is between 235°F (113°C) to 260°F (127°C).

RE: Why 4.1 axle?

Your reasoning sounds good, but with the 6 speed transmissions, 3,73 gears will result in less towing capacity and worse fuel economy. With the 4.10 gears, you start out easier and your transmission shifts through the gears as needed. You loose some top end, but likely don't ever drive that fast anyway. There are some spreadsheets folks have done showing the gears, rpms, etc. My brother asked what I had on my truck and what I would order differently, I would order 4.10 gears (did not think about it with 6pd trans enough) and I forget to get the 5th wheel prep (we tow bumper pull now, but wanted to ready for 5th wheel if we changed later). He bought a new truck just like mine, except 4.10 gears and he loves it towing their ~10k lb trailer. Note: we both have gas trucks, diesel I would get the 3.73

RE: How does everyone transport their kayak

I have a bed cover that leaves the stake pockets open, then I put on Trac Rac with Kayak brackets (two kayaks are flat, the middle one on J brackets).

RE: Battery Destroyers Rejoice

I too long for the days when things were made well, both designed well and built well. I don't socialize much since I have lost my patience with stupid people, people that are not able to think for themselves, people that can't handle an honest discussion.

Nice! I have some similar ideas (certainly have the old routers part covered), Been thinking on the cameras. Be sure and give an update after a few trips and let us know how it is working.
