RE: Need 1 more inch of clearance

Our radio antenna caught on the lip of the raised door coming out once... had to reseal the base of the antenna and put a piece of vinyl tubing over antenna.. no more little ball on end to catch door.. The AC looks like it might hit but there are several inches of clearance...

RE: SHANK question

Perhaps you don't need one 6" longer (from 12" to 18"), maybe you could figure out how much longer you need, add a little bit, then drill a hole in shank so it sticks out far enough for tailgate to clear jack, but not to far.

RE: Where's the bypass for the water heater?

Our first trailer had 3 valves to bypass water heater. Our current trailer just has one valve. Dad had a trailer that didn't come with bypass, he had dealer install it when they winterized it for the first winter.

RE: We were shocked to learn our newly purchased TT

Our first trailer did not have electric (only gas), thought about getting the element that goes into the drain hole, but never did... current trailer has gas/electric and we use electric when we are camped with hookups. If both of us are getting a shower, we might turn gas part on, but otherwise let the electric keep it warm.

RE: Thoughts on the 'need' factor of a main line surge protector

Its on my wish list, in the mean time, I have a monitor (displays voltage and checks for miswired) that I use to check before plugging in. I then plug it into the outlet near the sink so I can easily see it so if voltage drops too low I can turn off AC. It is not automatic, but it is what I have until I can budget the EMS.

RE: Any problems with Goodyear Endurance tires?

We don't go out enough to justify LT tires on travel trailer, so we went with the Goodyear Endurance.. so far so good. If I had more trips or higher mileage, I would step up to LTs, maybe even Michelin ribs I hear about..

RE: Tailgate Step Suggestions?

I put the AMP Research step and electric running boards on my truck the week I brought it home. No regrets, yes, the price is not cheap but have had no issues since installing in 2011.

RE: Is 70 the age to stop towing

I figured Dad would tow his trailer until he was 90 or more, but he sold it this year (89). Said he had been all the places he wanted to go, too much work otherwise. His sister has a 6 bedroom house and she is alone, so when he visits he can have his own bedroom.. We figured he was done towing a couple years ago, but did not want to admit it. He went out a couple times per year, always something not working right.. he was tired of it.

RE: Pre trip routines

Since we had a flat on trailer last year, I added "check air pressure in spare tires" to my pre trip checklist. Our spare was fine, but not because I remembered to check it..

RE: OK --- Guilty!

Unless you are filling a 5 gallon bucket and dumping it in, I doubt that you are getting 5 gallons in.. depending on the plumbing, it could take up a good portion of that.. we were sticklers for the "geo method" and all worked well.. last few times we didn't place close attention.. more odors for sure.

RE: Removing debris from slide out

My wife can climb the ladder on back of trailer and see the top of our slide out, if there is something on it, then it is up to me to take care of it. We bought a ladder to take with us, but seldom do in the summer months.

RE: Phone/email question

In July, Google increased security and many apps (programs) are having issues. If the app is not on Google's verified list, then it has issues.

RE: Battery acid crud on top of battery

Our Arctic Fox trailer has (2) Interstate 6V, this year when I pulled it out of storage, the tops of the batteries was a mess. I removed both batteries and cleaned them up, cleaned the terminals on the wires and put it all back together. It took a couple of hours total and should be good for a couple of years. I need to replace a couple of the wire ends next time I service it.

RE: Have I been doing it wrong all these years?

Yes, you will get better fuel economy without T/H on generally.

RE: Fiberglass Nose fading

Our 2013 Arctic Fox faded right away (we got it one year old, looked bad, figured it needed some TLC (waxing), but it looked good for a very short time, this year, I used electric polisher and 3M products (medium compound/polish/wax) and it looks like new, still looking good after a couple months. We will polish it once or twice a year, perhaps have it painted when that doesn't work anymore..

RE: How High???

My shop door is 12'6" and the radio attennae hits about 3" from end, so I really don't want to go under anything not at least 12'6" high..

RE: Run the USA is what?

A couple of years ago when camping over labor day weekend, a class C came in, backed in their site all crooked and jumped out and setup. I was talking with them and they were traveling the country in a rented RV, they had the setup down to the minute, crooked in site was to get it level without any blocks or jacks. He said only condition was the back pointing generally south so the satellite dish worked.. They were in one day, gone the next, onward (it was just an overnighter, not one of the sites they were seeing).. They had put something like 22,000 miles on the RV over the summer all over the lower 48.

RE: GM Yukon XL Denali Transmission Temps

Check the coolant level (when cool of course), your engine temp should not behave that way unless something else is going on.. IIRC, you have a 6.2l with plenty of power. Are the fans working ok (I don't recall if you have dual electric fans or a large fan driven by belt). Perhaps water pump needs replacement or fan belt?
