RE: Installing Rieco-Titan Swing Away on AF990?

Please tell me I'm not the only one that's forgotten to turn them out? more accurately I forgot to fold 1 of them out. Crumpled the fender on my brand new truck. I couldn't believe it though, just backed up again and the fender popped right out, a bit of baking powder to get rid of the paint transfer and can't even tell anything happened. May be one advantage of the Ford plastic add-on fenders.

RE: Which to comprimise on? Toilet or Heat?

I'll be interested to hear your feedback on how the heating system works in the winter. I like the idea but don't have any experience with it.

RE: Electric Jacks

I had one motor go bad. Since then I've covered the motors with 3-gang electrical box gaskets year round. They probably don't look that great and maybe it's placebo, not sure... but haven't had a problem since.

RE: Do you unload when you camp? Really?

I don't see a lot of truck campers in the campgrounds I've been to, but of the ones I have seen I've never seen one unloaded.

RE: What am I missing on GVWR??

larkyblast: would you mind sharing what dealer it is that carries the Cirrus, I promise I'm not going to go buy it from under you, just like the campers and would like to take a look at one.

RE: What am I missing on GVWR??

I try to stay out of these posts but since you're also in Alberta and I assume you will likely be traveling to BC then you may want to check out some of their documentation. I read the link below to be that they do go by GVWR but maybe your interpretation is different. I'm sure you've heard the stories as well but I can't really find out if they are fact or fiction.

RE: Overwhelmed with camper choices; insight appreciated

Hiya neighbour. I think your concern with the cold is quite accurate. I've stayed in my Adventurer at -25C but that was with power. It's supposedly 4-season but the furnace didn't stop much. I've never actually tested it but I'm not sure if I could make it through a night at that temp with my two batteries. I also have 300w of solar but again I'm kinda useless to you because I haven't been able to test it. I bought this and set it up for that use (for me quadding in the winter) but then my group blew up and plans changed and it never happened :(

RE: Lance Bed Plug Location in 2017-2019 SuperDuty?

depends on the truck camper, AFAIK there are no standards with campers. My first one the plug was front drivers side, current one the cable is rear drivers side so the factory 5th wheel location works well.

RE: Rear Camera

yes I get backup lines and the 360 view, odd that they are different because the camera I linked is the one in my tailgate and also the one KayTeg has. My truck is a 2017, maybe they changed it since then. Your plugs must be different when you disconnect the tailgate as well. Mine has two plugs to disconnect the tailgate, the bigger plug looks similar to the plug you posted but it's not for the camera, just the electronics. The smaller brown Fakra cable is for the camera on mine.

RE: Rear Camera

SoonDockin: I found the cables on ebay, just search for 'brown fakra cable f to f' they're keyed differently by color so you want the brown PS: I see that it doesn't match the camera you got... I think they sold you the wrong camera. That camera looks like the one meant to plug into the 'trailer camera' The part# I have for the OEM tailgate camera is part # hc3t-19g490-df I got that part# from the link below I have the 360 cameras and Platinum trim, it may be different for the lower trims.

RE: Inverter and Auto Transfer Switch

hmm, I ran mine just how you outlined... I didn't even think of the breaker. Now you have me wondering if this is ok. I would think the breaker would protect it when it is the power source and the inverter overload would protect it when running from the inverter wouldn't it?

RE: 2019 F450 looking for a key on power under the hood. Odd one

two of the upfitters can be set to always hot by moving a jumper. There's also a line inside the cab with the pto bundle (near the fuse panel) that has a switched ignition wire but it's only 5v, I used it for my dashcam. Also seen some use the piggyback fuse holders on the heated steering wheel circuit.

RE: 12V mystery

A 2-way fridge on propane uses barely any 12v power. I'm thinking the guys above are talking about 3-way fridges running on 12V. That would definitely be a power hog.

RE: Tailgate removal 2019 Chevy 3500HD

well since it seems to be going a bit off the rails I'll do my part. When I took mine off the first time (2017 F350) I got the wires disconnected fine but then realized I couldn't open it without the connection. Had to re-connect it to release the tailgate and start over. Yours may be the same.

RE: Ford Dually Rear Tire Stems hard to get at. Suggestions?

it's not really an extension, they are flow through caps.... but I guess it does act as an extension. Below is a link to more of them in case you lose them, my truck came from the dealer missing one of them.

RE: Winterizing an Alp Adventurer89B

yep, and there is a hole in the cabinet beside the fridge to get to the water heater winterizing valve. I took the screws out of the dinette on that side and just use velcro to hold it down to make it easier to get to. Depending on how cold it is you may still want to pull some a/f into the system (winterizing hose is also under the step). Draining the low point drains isn't a guaranteed way of winterizing.

RE: Ford Dually Rear Tire Stems hard to get at. Suggestions?

I've tried a bunch of inflators including a much more expensive Milton inflator but I've found this cheap one below to work great. Not sure how long the gauge will stay accurate but so far so good. PS: I've left the inside flow through caps but on the 2 outside and the front I removed them and just use a standard cap. Gives a bit more room to get to the inners. YMMV

RE: FW capacity

My Adventurer has a 42 fw, 25 grey, 22 black. Pretty good sizes for a 9' camper. I think the 86FB has slightly bigger tanks. It definitely played a part for me to choose this camper as we never camp with services and sometimes need to go a few days between dump stations.

RE: Rear Camera sells a kit that is a direct plug in. It includes the camera, cable and a mount for the camera. It's pretty expensive though. You could buy the camera direct from Ford and the cable is available on ebay. Cable is a Fakra brown F to F. I bought the kit and mounted it to the camper and it works well but if doing it again I'd probably buy the parts myself. I actually ended up using the ebay cable because the one that came in the kit was way too long. PS: make sure you get the 360 kit, they sell a few versions.
