RE: 2008 Eagle Cap 855 in Canada

Looks like we are getting a model of the EC that was before Adventurer "improved" "cut costs" on the EC. That might be why there are no brochures to be found anywhere?? FWIW, Eagle Cap of La Grande OR was bought and brought out of bankruptcy in about 2006 by Okanagan’s Owner Chris Epp...It was in this era that EC’s began to gain some design influence from Okanagan’s innovative design team...In about 2011 Chris (due to illness) sold Eagle Cap to his brother James Epp, the Owner of Adventurer in Canada who later relocated the EC factory from La Grande to the former post 2008 bankrupt Alpenlite facility in Yakama, WA. The second build generation EC’s (beginning about a year before EC’s 2006 bankruptcy) had (*) full front and rear fiberglass caps and true fiberglass sidewalls (no luan underlayment), but was discontinued at Yakama due to cost, and replaced with a premium Lamilux 4000 high luster roll-out material... *this industry leading redesign and material upgrade (pre-bankruptcy) was intended to overcome the many first generation costly warranty delamination re-works due to water intrusion, by avoiding the use of industry standard luan and filon....It was this costly redesign that helped lead to first generation EC’s bankruptcy... 3 tons

RE: 2008 Eagle Cap 855 in Canada

I stand corrected. It appears that the old 855 was a lot lighter than any of the models currently available. Even so that 3275# estimate will turn out to be on the low side. Check this brochure and you will quickly see the weight is for a stripped down model without microwave, without awnings, not even a TV antenna or a stereo. That 3275# estimate is likely to hit a loaded weight, minus passengers, well over 4000# and probably closer to 4500#. Looks like the 2008 855 was built before the brand was bought by Adventurer. There is no microwave etc. So, will be watching the weight at the scales. Thank you

RE: 2008 Eagle Cap 855 in Canada

He is looking at the Eagle Cap right now, will let you know what he decides. He was also looking at an Okanaga, 10'5", for half the price, but a 1997 in excellent condition.

This is the 2008 855, maybe built 3 years from 08 to 2010. It's 9'4" and the dry weight shows 2870 lbs and wet shows 3275 lbs

RE: Replacing Blinds with Curtains for Warmth & Looks

I also replaced the blinds with curtains. Each of our windows has a box valance so I used small tension rods in each to hold the curtains so I can slide the curtains open. We tried that, but I guess our curtains are a bit too heavy so we mounted the curtain rods.

Replacing Blinds with Curtains for Warmth & Looks

Finally time to take down those RV Day/Night Shades and put up some curtains. Challenging without a sewing machine! My question is, how to tie back curtains when open. I installed little cup hooks along the out side edge, but I am looking for ideas to hold them open. Velcro? Paracord? I went to Fabricland and bought some narrow trim, but it fell apart.

RE: Full Timing in Canadian Winter if the Border is still CLOSED

We have an RV lot in the West Kootenays, but are choosing to remain in North Central Alberta, close to Edmonton for this winter. We've spent 5 years living in our rig, all year round in Canada. But this year will be more of a challenge. We actually have a youtube channel showing the different ways we've dealt with the Canadian Winters. Heaters, Window Plastic, Skirting, etc. Hope you find it helpful. Winter RV Life in Canada - Full Time Anyone on here a full timer that's figured out how they will full time in Canada this winter, considering not all rigs do well in below freezing temperatures for extended periods. Plugged in with tank heaters, and space heaters? Head west to the coast for somewhat warmer temps? Both? I mention it because the US/CAN border may still be closed. If it's opened before November, the point becomes more moot, as most would probably return to following the warmer weather as it moves southwards.

RE: Full Timing in Canadian Winter if the Border is still CLOSED

We are spending this winter in Alberta....brrrr.....we just bought custom skirting for our latest rig. Big expense. On our last unit, we also had custom skirting and the one before that. We sold it with our last unit, so we had to start again. It's costly but convenient, as we are full time but still travel. So in the winter we put it on and in the spring, we store it. This is a short video showing all kinds of skirting, from tarps to OSB to rigid foam to custom. Hope that someone gets some useful information from this.
