RE: Anyone seen a Van Leigh???

They came out about five years ago and we looked at them several times, including the newer Beacon, the top of the line. Very nice real wood cabinetry and on the Beacon gorgeous paint. I think it's the nicest of the lower-upper mass produced rigs---nicer than a Landmark or Redwood and far nicer than a Montana, Bighorn or anything from Grand Design. But lacking the heavy duty bones of a DRV---the heavy box beam frame, thick walls, independent suspension, standard disc brakes, available fiberglass roof etc.

RE: Don't come to Massachusetts

The Pilgrims came to America so they could pray. When they weren't preying on the Indians they preyed on each other.

RE: Psssst...wanna see a Wall?

Make it a felony to employ illegal aliens and then give a few employers of them stiff sentences in maximum security prisons. When work for illegals dries up so will their presence.

RE: Electric heated water hose

I use the heated hose in the winter only. It has a thermostat that turns it on when it gets sufficiently cold so I don't worry about plugging and unplugging. We don't get hard freezes where we spend winters but it doesn't hurt to use it. Anyway, come April when we move out the heated hose goes in storage under the coach.

RE: Paradigm RV Alliance

I doubt frames, suspensions and brakes are anything special.

RE: Morryde Step Above

The MoRyde steps are a case of the manufacturers doing something for their benefit and getting the customers to think it's done for theirs.

RE: Wall Street journal article on increased RV living

Count your blessings; at least our nomads aren't Steppe Peoples bringing fire and sword in addition to garbage and unsightliness. No Scythians, Alans, Huns and Tatars.

Thanks for the effort Czar. I read your post.

RE: Homeless people coming to your favorite campground!

This Czar guy should learn to use paragraphs so his text is readable without undue effort. There's reasoning behind their use. When I see a huge blob of text like his I pass it by. "The Russian Revolution happened when the peasants found out the Czar was really the Tsar." Woody Allen

RE: Problems locating repair shops for Motorhomes.

I Have an F53 based coach and use the Ford commercial truck website to take note of those dealers who work on Class As along or near my likely routes. When I got a check engine light the Ford dealer in New Braunfels Texas took me in the next morning and had me fixed and out before lunch. Bad spark plug. There is an independent truck service place in Sturgeon Lake Minnesota that works on ALL types of motorhomes and have my coach serviced there.

RE: riding nose high

It's damned silly how high modern pickups sit. They should make low riding tow specials for people pulling 5Ws, which themselves are getting very high as it is without riding even higher in front to clear a truck bed.

RE: New Thor subsidiary to use European manufacturing methods

I can't help but wonder if nothing will change until they change the physical location where RV's are made. No matter what you do to improve, you still have the same workforce with all of the problems and habits they have. Mike Well, they could move 100 miles west to the southeast side of Chicago and hire enterprising and hard working Poles and Mexicans. Have to pay more though but you get what you pay for. It doesn't help the quality of help in northeastern Indiana that the heavy industrial work in northwestern Indiana, miils and refineries and such, pays much better.

RE: Is Socializing a Dying Thing in the RV Community?

Well, like James Jones said in his book The Thin Red Line: you pretend to believe my bullsh*t and I'll pretend to believe yours.

RE: The Verdic is in, New Ford 7.3 V-8 Gas mpg not so Great

That FLT guy should go back to Berwyn and reopen his Bohemian restaurant. Roast pork and dumplings, yum.

RE: Increasing towing capacity

The GCVW (Gross Combined Vehicle Weight) is the maximum amount of weight that the chassis and BRAKES were designed to handle. This is an error; Ford rates the brakes to work at GVWR, not GCWR, and recommends an auxiliary braking system on the toad if the the combined weight of coach and toad exceed GVWR.

RE: Kwikee Stairs failure rate

Any capable 19th Century engineer could've built a simple and dead reliable set of manually operated steps. But you'd have to pull a handle or something, God forbid.
