RE: 2021 Northern Lite 10-2 Le wet bath

I don’t have a Northern Lite. What I do is unhook the fast guns and put the jacks down until they touch. It doesn’t take much to keep it from moving. You could leave the tiedowns connected, but safter to take them loose. Either way could work.

RE: Black tank treatments.

I think it’s a question on what odors you want to smell. If you want to smell the raw poop, go for it. We don’t.

RE: To buy a generator or not...

Everyone uses their TC differently, but many of us never need a generator for more than a few minutes at a time. That’s where the builtin shines. I already have a propane stove, fridge, furnace, and hot water heater, so it makes sense to use a propane generator for those few minutes to run a microwave, top off the battery etc. With few exceptions, I can’t think of any time that I would be running a generator for hours. Most campgrounds don’t allow it, and besides, I’m out doing things when it is hot. If I’m forced to go out when it is really hot, I’m going to pay the few bucks extra for hookups. For the cases when I’m not at a typical campground, I just find a cooler spot. Again, no sense in camping in the sun when you don’t have to. Finally, if I’m not moving around and don’t need mobility, I’d probably go with a much larger unit like a Class A, fifth wheel, etc.

RE: Black tank treatments.

We just use Thetford Aqua-Kem. I’ve tried other stuff, but we like the smell of the blue stuff more than smells created by the other brands.

RE: To buy a generator or not...

I was curious, so I looked at inciweb. I think I would cancel that trip. There were fires all around there including in Shasta and the Dixie fire south of there that is 200K acres and only 22% contained. The smoke is already there and will probably only be worse in 2 weeks.

RE: To buy a generator or not...

Most campgrounds have quiet time when you can’t run the generator, you should find out what those are for your campground. You may find that you can only use it during the middle of the day when you are off doing other things. If you want a quiet generator buy a Honda, but even that won’t matter if you can’t run it due to park rules. If you will be parked in the open, you should invest in some mesh sunscreens to keep the sun off the TC as much as possible. Open windows with roof fans actually do a pretty good job and keeping the TC from getting very hot. Do replace your conventional bulbs with LEDs that give off less heat. Cook outside when possible. I find a grill works for us in hot weather. Finally, plan on what to do if you are blocked by a wild fire.

RE: Truck Leaning 1" - Super Springs

Again, they shouldn’t affect the unloaded ride. From the GeneralSprings website. “The SuperSprings unit attaches to the existing leaf springs in such a way that they will not engage unless the leaf spring reaches its load capacity. When the leaf springs stretch to their limit, the SuperSprings activate to accommodate the additional load to balance out the backend and deliver smooth handling performance.”

RE: Truck Leaning 1" - Super Springs

I don’t know how much each adjustment hole changes the force, but my guess is a few hundred lbs. I think I’d try the next higher setting on the side that is low. There are 4 shackle settings from low to max according to their website.

RE: Truck Leaning 1" - Super Springs

I don’t think SuperSprings are supposed to impact unloaded ride. You might try giving them a call/email.

RE: Truck Leaning 1" - Super Springs

I would just add some tension to the one side if you can.

RE: Still Having Problems With TC and Truck

That would depend on where you are and what year/brand you have. On ebay, I saw some as low as $450. I would buy a takeoff since there are plenty of them from people changing to flatbeds.

RE: Still Having Problems With TC and Truck

Seems like it’s going to keep failing. I’d replace the bed.

RE: Tag axle for truck camper rigs

If you don’t know why it’s a a bad idea with lots of issues, you haven’t been reading the thread. If you read the article, it’s not an inexpensive idea. Funny that some of you compare this poor design supported by the hitch to axles attached to the frame like when the axles are fairly close together like on a dual/triple axle trailer. Then, there is the generic problems with tag axles even if his design wasn’t so bad. I get you trying to defend this poor design if you are his friend. Good on you for that. Unfortunately, this is a tough crowd. He would be better off the supporters just let this thread die. Then, those that didn’t know any better might consider buying one.

RE: Can't overcome the fear of buying a Truck and TC.......

I hope it all works out for you. The news says the US is actually the hold up of the Canada border. Canada plans to open Aug 9. I think you might need proof of vaccination and random Covic screening. In other news, Montana is still open, too.

RE: Finally made it to the Cat scales

Notice I didn’t say 70 I said 60. It won’t help you in your recovery if you know the other guy was doing 5 over. I also said, 60 where people are driving 85. The difference in speed is the hazard. Btw, good on you for doing some Montana research, but the “metro” areas are tiny compared to the East coast. So although the speed limit does reduce to 65, it only does it for a few miles. I agree 2 lane hwys are different. That’s where you should be if you want to drive 60.

RE: Finally made it to the Cat scales

specta didn’t backpeddle. He was simply clarifying because some of you guys like making lots of assumptions to justify how slow you drive. As far as know how to drive an RV goes, that’s not even part of the point. If you are driving 60 where you know people are driving 85, you are a hazard to yourself and others. You aren’t enlightened. You should think about alternate routes to avoid the danger.

RE: Love my truck and camper.

You have been the only one with issues viewing those pictures, so your VPN service is most likely to blame rather than his hosting.I run a heavily filtered connection and can still see Spectra's photos without turning down any security. I was very specific and noted it was related to NordVPN. Too bad, that you missed it. I have no idea what filtering you are doing, but obviously not as filtered as mine. ;) For those keeping score, NordVPN is not an unpopular VPN service. It’s actually one fo the top rated services.

RE: Roadside Assistance

My membership is AAA Premier (RV and Motorcycles) are covered and covers a 200 mile tow and 3 - 100 mile tows per year. It looks like there is a difference in membership types for each “region” according to their website.
