RE: Generator dB rating

I just heard my brothers 3500 Harbor Freight Predator just the other day and I was really impressed with how quiet it was. I have 2 Honda 2000's and I swear it was possibly a little quieter then my 1 Honda alone. I wish they would come out with a dual fuel as I want to dump the Hondas so I do not have to carry fuel. I always have 2 extra propane tanks with me and don't have to worry about gas.

RE: Truck tires

My 2002 dually came stock with 235/85/16 which care 3042 lb versus the 215/85/16 which is a little over 2600 lb. I am always told when looking for tires I have the wrong size on my truck but my door sticker says different. 235'may give you more capacity and will still fit. Just a thought.

Tires again.

Getting ready for replacement tires for the fiver. Michelin tires sidewalls prematurely failed according to Americas tires. Due to health issues could not get 3 back to them for replacements. They replaced one under their warranty. Now looking for new ones. I have been looking at GY Endurance but also see Americas tires Hartland. They are steel interior and read the are made to their standards even though they are China tires which I do not care for. I was wondering if anyone has tried their Hartland tire and if so what success you have had. Working on a budget and 400.00 less then GY Endurance but still don't want to get stuck with junk if I don't have too.

RE: Tree Pruning

I use a battery Ryobi sawzall with a good wood blade, works perfect. Done with any type of chain saw.

RE: Spider crack in clear coat

https://i.imgur.com/qDX7bxil.jpg I have kind of the same issue. I removed all my graphics and under a lot of them I found these tiny cracks. It has not done anything more but they just look bad. I don't know why they did it.

Fifth wheel caulking issue with it staying tacky

I just re-did most of my fifth wheel caulking. It went fairly easy. took some time for sure. I was just wondering what everyone else is using. I have been using Geocel caulk but after I am done it still feels slightly tacky. I live in the desert and the dust seems to stick to it and it looks dirty all the time unless I go around with alcohol and this takes some time to do with all the seams and by the next few days it looks dirty again. Does anyone have a suggestion on a different product to use that does not stay tacky. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

RE: Do we have a pickup glut already?

Same here, 2002 Ford F 350 Dually with 38,000 miles. This baby is going to have to last a long time. I will never be able to afford a new truck these days.

RE: Leaf Spring Failure - Replace the Others?

I never had a failure but my springs did start to sag very badly. I replaced them all from 3000 lb. to 3500 lb. springs and the trailer sat and rode better then it ever did. I would replace them all with higher rate and better quality. just my 2 cents. Good luck

RE: Tire age?

Get rid of those as soon as you can afford it. I never buy China made tires. I even had bad lucky with my last set of tires that were Michelins that had defective sidewalls that now gave me a bad taste in my mouth for Michelins that I always loved, no more. I will now go with Goodyear Defenders that I know several people had good luck with them.

RE: Dicor sealant on my fifth wheel

Thanks Doug, I will give that a try. I tried with a short screw and taping the end but did not think about a longer screw. Thanks again. Jeff

Dicor sealant on my fifth wheel

I know this may sound like a dumb question but does anyone know of a way to save a open tube of dicor sealant without the plastic tube harding up. I only need a patial amount and don't want to waste another tube. I tried sealing it like you do with the proflex silicon but it did not work, the plastic tube still got hard. At the price of these now it is hard to throw away a half full tube. Thanks.

RE: Low power?

I ran my 30 amp plug from my panel to where my trailer is parked.I used 10/2 wire, had to run it through the attic. I get 118/119 volts with no load but when ac runs it drops to about 110 volts.I should have ran 8/2 even 6/2 due to the 50 ft.run and the heat in the attic during the summer. Your voltage drops seems normal especially with extension cords.

RE: Possible delamination

I had a delam spot on my fiver about 2 years after I bought it. It was a 12 inch oval on pass side wall just after the overhang. They cut it out and patched it. Looked good until 3 years ago and it cracked where the patch was done.

RE: Mini Split A.C. in their fiver

Wogg, yes please post some pictures. The only problem I have is my fiver has 3 rooms, a small rear room, main living then the front bedroom. Not sure how good cool air flow would work getting to all areas.

RE: Smaller Propane Tanks

I ditched the big tanks years ago when they were going out of date. I swap the smaller ones out when they are getting close to expiration date and get ones with a better date. Never had a problem. I also carry a few extras in the truck bed.

RE: Upgrade to 5th wheel

I always go with the gvw and not the built weight. You will slowly start adding more things when you start using it and will find out you will start getting close to your gvw before you know it. Just like tires always fill to the max air, I go by the GVW. Just my 2 cents. That is how I do it. Good luck on your new fiver.

RE: RV wind deflectors do they work we will see

Here is a side view that shows how far away from the trailer they are. I don't think it is too effective though. I think it needs to be closer.I think it would be closer on a short bed truck. https://i.imgur.com/qVz6Ufal.jpg
