RE: Canadian snowbirds: sell RV in Canada or USA?

Ontario stopped doing emissions testing a year or two ago but I have no reason to believe it wouldn't pass a test.

RE: Canadian snowbirds: sell RV in Canada or USA?

The speedometer is close to the bottom of the concern list. Think truck emissions. Looking for a bigger RV?The truck has DEF - I think that's the same as a US truck. Yeah, BIGGER RV. No, actually smaller RV. I had to give up my Class A driver's license so I'm not legal for this rig anymore. I hadn't intended to drive it anymore (just leave it in Florida) but we were so paranoid in March about getting home without contact that we brought it instead of staying in motels.

RE: Canadian snowbirds: sell RV in Canada or USA?

Yes, the truck is Canadian. I don't know if it meets USA standards - the speedometer is metric. As far as the border goes, yes, it will be quite a while until it's open. That might discourage USA buyers. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/XHlns2aLSVxhHHTC7870BY9CtmTPgZ-ugbrQs0cWX64gZoRVo2id2fFTCxhIQJB0XORsYBb7klhlJ7qBUucdizdIjsOcL7COxgey6dHOQDtuPCuRS4hveRlW816xFXiypaUHn-kjbQGrzwo37CaHyx50DN297OPiszw1oJ23G75Nh44gyZa3Me7TMh0-eM8ncGsjA-9Y2aYBJccoj3-mGfB_sGWxWFfRym5MEPpYpMZwRdgwVDbWy2JSlxZIos5-71aEWm5DdDEwo4aH6r1nQCGcss7NXEx-t52RvjA19dJcSHeKQPQOudyLC2uwU6GkV8TRVNUvpswbKKOLf2YVR4_tOalykpn5ERZD36o_ibahTWCfzWYSjnS17F5nG4uxZYy3VjULe7rleXehVxPs5x82qbP5gKebbHqi5EqbicPCKkY_s6u1k5-NLMj2EafEZcnPS81XPQ4_4vwFAVzc1_jyyM_ITNV9kx-N5eephvK8Y-_FKs5rNixGCMzyv_YM8sQx01ztiTRjuoXNb3Ilbnkwx_c_z0cTCeg5EacbtciqJ-k7a5EEwwjUlUl5Ho6Y5-WEhppjS702J5J8wGhpP3NFshAdGBvY5rrojdASC1KUFA1QOrLm09KRKQ3k-4yvxFVZKEWknjLvRGLsdTaeR8dFlZZYkBZG5-sD2bE7ji0SljaRKcrJmA=w1292-h969-no?authuser=0 width=800

Canadian snowbirds: sell RV in Canada or USA?

I bought both of our toy haulers in USA and imported into Canada. Traded the first on the second. I might trade again in which case the selling question goes away. But if I do sell, would I get a better price selling in Canada or USA? Sell truck with TH too? There may be a Class C in my future in which case won't need the truck.

RE: Scottsdale in winter.......

Jan-March will be booked full in all the parks, assuming that Canadians are allowed south this winter. I doubt that will happen.

Better to use a thread chaser than a tap. You don't want to cut new threads.

RE: Hauler to get my trailer from Florida to Canada?

The trailer WAS bought in the USA but it has already been imported by me into Canada last year. It has a Canadian ownership and Ontario plates. I was thinking about trundling over to the border and asking CBSA if I could meet the driver / trailer right at the border and the driver could turn around immediately. I don't know if it's possible - there is a 14-day mandatory quarantine. I would be willing to do it (again) but a driver wouldn't. A professional driver is exempt however. Dunno dunno.

RE: Hauler to get my trailer from Florida to Canada?

Yes, onsite storage is another option we're considering. The RV park has a storage lot - it's a motorcycle friendly park so there are many cargo trailers in the winter season.

RE: Hauler to get my trailer from Florida to Canada?

I considered selling it but I have no ideas how I'd actually be able to do it. Gotta get my stuff out of it; border closed; etc.

RE: Hauler to get my trailer from Florida to Canada?

It's a brand new cargo trailer with our golf cart in it. Hopefully shipping will be a lot less than it's worth. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/m9BNH9_VeQ7rFpRMQRD31jft8yfIAzgt_pVVzrzBfN5ufIK_BVZS-rRa61epUnq_j3NBB-3PFmj7T-4d_P8k2u6tSzOF_VLsfzCONTebUtzReP4jz30cn2zpzmHVrRFxLMO3en_flNS6pZne8UOkJClKyJuuXHCWqzgyBAvngAryZSMQ6sHESvRensNZ6WtzLsQHRXKtrfCTX_H9Q3X8qN-vhp_jwJV6-OyxCuigwt5kUB4CKG2BDqAbE_YC5SefjOhC0qCJGrYzENLjRiGG3lj7LP-eQx6iYlzY0AB-PN_FCvLqNkp41XRUSiXR88nHLSAByBe5MFziu29MDa1A2iCjFB2AM4Fw-q3dY805Wl__zSAObj_LQQsxWRlJiM5rkyt8E3uS6YhfbTeNGoAQ23P8400MzhehvceLUbOXTDcEHxNQQ6LLGj8He2J2m4dWXZhqe0ihdNnlP2nCYbPbGpMZepQYLOpE_TLRGuom58vp5FiQev8JrztHMWoBiENpz3S462pX3GWfrat2qnpqlmDJMMgkvnP9Q9G4toKwOtTHSDAQqsE-4b_wcl5gOTBkxbZqNYNUTiZtnjhqTREw2yp6ykTmSiPq24iVn5XD--ht7dn2i5XtC4NP6GNqg0vFs1jlPGTasLq9VHP5GxzIRAg79WYMLSKGprYXgcE200QeKrIO8de-076X=w1250-h937-no?authuser=1 width=800

Hauler to get my trailer from Florida to Canada?

I'd get it myself but the border is shut and I really don't want to go to Florida at this time anyway. When we left FL in the spring, we were going to leave our 5er but we left our cargo trailer on our site and brought home the 5er so we wouldn't have to stay in motels and eat in restaurants. Now the cargo trailer is sitting on our site attracting full rent. Normally wouldn't matter but I don't think we'll be spending the winter in USA so I don't want to pay rent for a site I won't use. As the subject says, are there services that will haul an individual's trailer 1500 miles and across the border. I know there are ones for RV manufacturers. Cost if they exist?

RE: 2019–20 CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC POSTINGS

I fear our snowbirding days may be over. With the COVID-19 pandemic now looking like it's going to take a couple of years to run its course, I think we'll give up our permanent spot in Florida. No point in making the final decision right now because we have no way to recover our trailer from down there. Hopefully there'll be a lull between waves where we can get it.

Sometimes you just get lucky changing TV's! I didn't make any changes to our new 2016 Ram 3500 and still level.Do you get a lot of people flashing their lights at you if you tow at night?
