RE: Tire Monitor System

My TPMS specified accuracy/repeatability is +/- 3 percent, which is a rather wide range. It's not to be used as a tire guage but as an alarm for rapidly decreasing pressure or increasing heat. When starting out in the morning I glance at it to be sure pressures are in the ballpark.

RE: West Coast of Florida

You can go US-98 to Perry; it's somewhat scenic between Port St. Joe and the Crawfordville turnoff. Then from Perry take US-19 south to US-98 past Homosassa and head to Brooksville, where you'll connect with US-41. Once you get east of Crawfordville the actual coast is 20-25 miles away from the highway with county roads leading out to small communities. You'll be seeing 20 bazillion pine trees. For more to see, from Perry I'd take US-27 to HIgh Springs, then head south on US-27 to Williston, then reconnect with US-41 and go all the way south to Land O'Lakes and pick a direction from there. To go to the Keys, get over to US-27 SR-50 Brooksville to Clermont, then south on US-27. DO NOT go through the Tampa Bay area or, of course, the Orlando area.

RE: Tragic Death Class A

A couple of years ago a hydraulic hose to a jack on my DP burst; the back end came down hard and bounced. Although one probably wouldn't have been crushed that would definitely have hurt.

RE: Taking RV to FLA (west cost) to pick up mother in law

Ivylog, that's a great idea! While it may seem sort of uncaring, it's probably the quickest and safest way to get her up north. fourthclassC, if you come to Florida, assuming you're in a "safe" area, fully stock your RV and don't stop for anything besides gas and rest. No grocery stores, no hotdogs at a gas station, no using a restroom at a rest stop None of that, no exceptions. Everyone stays aboard and rides, no wandering around.

RE: Senior Citizens Speak Up

Having all the fulltimers descend on Walmart would probably be much worse than letting them use parks. They're going to go somewhere, and when private parks fill up they're still going to go somewhere, and that isn't "home."

RE: Senior Citizens Speak Up

It would be way too cool if every fulltime person thrown out of a state park converge and boondock on the state capitol grounds to make the point. I recall farmers in Florida driving their tractors up the Capitol steps back in the late '70s. Closing the parks to camping is idiocy; all they need to do is padlock the restrooms and require units to be self-contained.

RE: F53 brake master cylinder failure

You might be able to see the level of the fluid in the master cylinder reservoir by putting a bright light behind it.

RE: F53 brake master cylinder failure

When a master cylinder has an external leak it'll leak between the cylinder and the hydroboost; that's why there's a weep hole there so if either leaks it won't contaminate the other. The solution of course is to replace the master cylinder. Then I'd completely drain and refill the brake system since you'll be seriously bleeding it anyway. It's a failure, no way normal wear and tear. Spray everything with VHT rust converter or paint with ospho.

RE: Us 27 in Georgia

Heading north the key is to get to Newnan; south it's Rome. CGs are Chattahoochee Bend SP, John Tanner CG (county), Little Tallapoosa CG (county) and Harvest Moon RVP (Adairsville).

RE: Us 27 in Georgia

Yes, several times. It's a nice mostly leisurely drive. Be sure to take the bypass around Columbus. I also take off at Rome over to I-75 at Calhoun, then at Dalton take the Dalton Bypass/Cleveland Highway and avoid the Chattanooga area entirely.

RE: Looking for a propane setup for seafood boil cooking

Bayou Classic is a good brand commonly sold at Walart, Amazon, Home Depot etc. Generally speaking, you want to keep the weight down low so get a burner with short welded legs, not somehthing tall and spindly. Remember the top of the pot is going to be fairly high up too. Although a pan or griddle can be used on these burners it's difficult to turn the burner low enough and keep it lit. I use a Nordic Ware flame-tamer burner plate (Amazon) for that Although you can set the burner on a table it gets mighty hot under the burner; I use a pizza pan or sheet pan as a heat deflector so I don't melt my plastic table. I use an Imusa Caldera (Amazon) on the burner for ordinary fish or chicken frying.

RE: 1st RV Road Trip - Florida itinerary

To get to the east coast I strongly suggest you get over there well north of the Orlando area. Go CR-42/SR-44 from just south of Summerfield towards New Smyrna or, the farthest south, SR-46 east from Mt. Dora. Orlando traffic has become legendary.

RE: 1st RV Road Trip - Florida itinerary

Jetty Park is a good spot. You can just tootle up SR-3/Courtenay Parkway to KSC. I'd give it a full day; however, if you've been to the Huntsville facility it might be somewhat old hat.

RE: 1st RV Road Trip - Florida itinerary

Dial that way back. Seems like just a driving trip, guaranteed to leave everyone worn out and grouchy every day. If you're going to KSC and Canaveral, you need to be at Manatee Hammock, not the backside of Melbourne an extra hour away.
