RE: Brevard County Florida camping fee changes

The rate is significantly above state parks, and these parks are definitely not in the class of most Florida state parks. Running off everyone isn't the solution.

RE: Brevard County Florida camping fee changes

That's a preposterous increase, at what point does it become "gouging."
I don't expect any locals will want to stay at those campgrounds which are non-resorts in non-resort areas for those prices. I won't be back. Watch for the county to close and sell those campgrounds in a year or two due to lack of use.

RE: Bill giving residents priority at booking FL state parks

Staying an allowed 14 days at parks isn't exactly gaming the system. If that's not desired then reduce stays to seven days, three days or whatever. How is an ocupancy rate of 28 percent (weekend two nights out of seven) justifiable?

RE: Bill giving residents priority at booking FL state parks

So what is going to be done about state parks being mostly empty five nights out of seven because weekends are booked instantly, blocking out anyone who wants to stay longer? Force one-week or two-week reservations only, all others first-come first-served? It's part of the same tangled mess.

RE: Bill giving residents priority at booking FL state parks

What happens at many state and coe parks is that the locals snap up every site every weekend, effectively locking out anyone who wants to stay a week or two. This would just guarantee that happens. Snowbirds will just go to commercial parks, Texas or Arizona. If other states follow suit it'll also mean that Floridians won't be able to stay at other states' parks either.

RE: FDR state park directions

FWIW KOA Chattanooga North, actually at Cleveland, is a good stop, handy to getting to the Dalton Pike / Bypass. BTW, I found the north end of the Dalton Bypass to be a bit rough back in June. Certainly not giant holes though. Take it a little slow.

RE: FDR state park directions

Take the Dalton Bypass, far preferable to Chattanooga, then GA-53 between south Calhoun and Rome, then US-27 south. Mostly two-lane, roads are ok.

RE: Florida - Lakeland

Moccasin Wallow Rd exit 229 off I-75, east to US-301, then a short jog south to FL-62 will bring you to just north of Wauchula. Also, FL-64 exit 220 will take you to Zolfo Springs, just south of Wauchula. I've never done either.

RE: Florida - Lakeland

You could slip past it via Zephyrhills down to I-4 to Polk Parkway. Probably better through Zephyrhills than Lakeland.

Be sure to get the rubber grommets to hold the extensions steady for each extension; also I had to stick the grommet in the hole in the rim with some silicone goop.

RE: DMV issues

A mail service simply gives you a box, a Personal Mail Box, PMB. You couldn't reside in that PMB, so that address isn't a "real" residential address.
Some such as Escapees and St. Brendan's Isle can provide you a real address that you could live at, a domicile address. You would also become a legal resident of Texas or Florida for better or worse.

RE: The horrible roads are killing the fun.

Generally speaking, travel on US highways and drive slower. Leave the interstates to the heavy trucks that tear them up.
