RE: The Verdic is in, New Ford 7.3 V-8 Gas mpg not so Great

Personally I,d be more concerned about the reliability of the new engine. The v-10 has proven to be pretty reliable.Lets hope the new engine proves to be as reliable.Only time will tell.

RE: Looking to make the plunge

I basically have the same setup.I have a 2018 F150 4by4 V8,pulling a 28 foot bunkhouse. It pulls OK.Most of my trips are 4 hours or less.(taking the grandkids camping) If I was going to travel the country I would want a bigger truck.

RE: RVs and California's Planned Power Outages

Ar least they are giving you a heads up that you may loose power,so you can be prepared. Here in the midwest we have had storms blow through and have lost power for several days.I personally have a generator and keep 10 to 15 gallons of gas on hand which I rotate for fresh gas every few months.

RE: Ford Questions

On a 2014 the tow/haul button will change the way the transmission shifts, but will let it go into overdrive. Its very usefull in hilly driving as when you tap the brakes on a downhill run it will downshift. The earlier fords had an overdrive button that locked out overdrive. If the hubcaps are the stainless ones with fake lug nuts two of the nuts have dimples on them. These two can be unscrewed and the hubcap will come off.

RE: Multiple Tire Blowouts

Guess I.ll put my 2cents whorth in.This spring bought a 2 year old Wildwood 29 foot tt.Previous owner had bought it new 2 years ago, towed it to florida, parked it for two years and towed it back to Michigan.Chinese 6 ply tires looked great.First trip for us we went 200 miles to northern michigan.30 miles into return trip rr tire blew.Pressure was checked before we left up north.Luckily only minor damage to the plastic covering underneath.Got home bought 4 new Goodyear endurance 8 ply tires.Feel much better about tires and the trailer sways less. Btw,Tomman,I,m one of your retired brothers.

RE: floor parallel to frame?

Not really causing problems,I was just trying to set up the hitch to help eliminate sway. The first step is to level the trailer.Tahts when I found out that leveling the floor doesn.t level the frame.

RE: floor parallel to frame?

Basically when the camper is level inside, the frame runs downhill from the back to the front by about 3 inches.

floor parallel to frame?

I inheritaded an older Dutchman TT.When the floor is level the frame is not.Is this the way they could have built it or does it have structural issues?

RE: Setting up wdh hitch

Trailer is back in the barn,I,ll have to get back to you on the brand of the hitch. Its the kind where the bars don,t have chains. they slide on top of metal L brackets which are attached to the trailer tounge.

Setting up wdh hitch

Recently bought a 28 foot travel trailer from a private person. It came with the hitch and bars and he said it was all set up for my truck.(f150) I towed it about 50 miles home and definately have a sway issue.Watched a few u tube videos on setting up the hitch but they seem to disagree. Any suggestions on the best resource for instructions on setting up the hitch?
