RE: RV sale pending, but we found evidence of mice...

I'd say buy it but you better run the furnace first and check the vents for obstruction. Not trying to scare you but we actually had mice completely shut down all ductwork with a plethora of nest on brand new trailer. Mice around here will make nests with dryer sheets and love the aroma of mint oil, we tried every product even electronics. If they can get in, they will. Eliminating access was the only way we have rid our trailers of mice.....10 yrs without a single mouse stirring.

RE: Pretty Sure Dual Cam Shouldn't Look Like This!

After a 2nd look, still can't imagine the culprit other than bottoming out in reverse or possibly an extremely sharp turn where the trunnion was close to being ejected and apon straightening back up.....the top section of trunnion caught the cam bracket. Inspect the tip of trunnion for gouge marks. Oh, 6 links does seem to be the sweet spot with these hitches.

RE: Pretty Sure Dual Cam Shouldn't Look Like This!

Hmmm been using a DC for 15 years without a single issue. Was it set up properly, set up level? How many chain links used for towing ? Was trunnion bar pulled up all the way up to cam ? 5 or less links of chain?

RE: Winterizing TT for 1st time and have a ??? about the toilet.

Accidentally left black tank half full one winter, no issues simply because there was room for expansion. A little residual water left in any of the tanks will present no issues.

RE: roof weight limit

I'm only 175 and sounds like stepping on Doritos on several trailers we've owned.....don't trust " walkable roofs ".

RE: Winterizing TT for 1st time and have a ??? about the toilet.

Owned 4 trailers and have not heard of toilet cleaning system. Make sure everything is pink with RV antifreeze and should be good.

RE: Got camper inspected at camping world. Big mistake

Yep, you got over charged considerably. I've never paid over $16 in over 20 yrs in VA.

RE: Goodyear Endurance Tires VS Carlisle Trail HD Tires

Don't go below load range D and you'll be fine. Imo

RE: Water valve

Definitely weird and have to wonder what justifies a 3-way. Every trailer we've owned (4) have had the simple open and close with a alternate bypass valve. Note: Make sure the bypass valve is in the closed position to avoid cold water invasion.

RE: Water left in Suburban water heater - UPDATE!

I drain our Suburban twice a year, after sanitizing and after winterizing. We average about 10 days per month camping which likely negates the negative impact of WH just sitting. If I knew for certain that we'd not be camping for several weeks then draining the entire system would be the way to go. Nothing wrong with suburban WH so if you decide to go that route again, drain it for extended periods of inactivity.

Pine trees and slides ??

Well, had to eat my words on latest camping trip. Our previous 2 trailers had slide toppers installed, our latest trailer with 2 slides we elected not to because of where our trailer parks at the house. We leave slides out year around and have easy access to the tops of slides for inspection. To my point: Our latest trip I failed to inspect the canopy of fallage above trailer while setting up. Next day noticed large dieing pine hanging over trailer so reported it. Campgrounds was full Covid crowds so couldn't move. Got home and hopped on cooler to find what looked like the Forrest floor resting on top of slides from interior. Quite the job to clean. This is the first issue we've had without toppers so watch those DA#* pine trees.

RE: Aluminum or fiberglass trailer

Possibly some exaggeration here on delamination issues with fiberglass. We're on our 3rd fiberglass trailer and previous trailer was 10 yrs old and never any delam. It simply boils down to personal preference.

RE: Narrowing in on Trailer Selection (need help)

Unfortunately for a trailer that size, you'll be very close to it's 7000# GVWR. When searching for a trailer your best to look at it's GVWR vs the UVW or dry weight.

RE: Winterizing Travel Trailer

You would feel better using antifreeze. And be safer. Truth is. IF you are going to run antifreeze thru it. Blowing it out first is a waste of time. The antifreeze will displace any water in the system. that is what it does. Now next thing. IF you use the winterizing kit inside the RV. Please remember to let the antifreeze run out the city water connector. There is a button inside the hose connector that you can press with a screw driver. However, Remember to stand to one side, as there will be pressure on it. Ask me how I know. Be careful with relief valve on the city water hookup as you could potentially lose the seal under pressure. Best way I've found was to relieve some pressure at the outside shower or sink with the water pump off before pressing on city valve.

RE: Is anyone doing anything fun lately?

Recently completed a garden pond with waterfall in backyard, it certainly drew the frogs....had to train our Border collie to stay out of it. Wife is planning youngest daughters wedding. We have made up lost ground in the camping department. Just spent a week on a beautiful lake in southern VA " philpott " where I caught my biggest bass of the year. First full year of retirement has been very nice to say the least.

RE: Fresh water problem

The city water hookup is such a tiny minuscule section of line, can't imagine the need to sanitize or the cause of any unpleasant odors. Idk

RE: Winterizing Travel Trailer

We used to just blow it out. One winter, we forgot to open the toilet valve while running the compressed air in and it cracked that valve. I’m not quite sure how forgetting a step has anything to do with the methodology. I’m pretty sure if you’d forgotten the toilet using pink it still would have frozen and cracked. In my case pink stuff is completely unworkable, I winterize / use / winterize numerous times per winter. With air all I have to is switch on the water pump and open a tap. No muss, no fuss, no smell. I can (and do often) literally do it going down the highway. Your saying your water pump alone flushes all lines of H20 ? City water hookup ? Low point drains ? Outside shower ? Water heater ? Traps ? There's more to this story.

RE: Are My Tanks Really Empty?

Tank gauges work sometimes and sometimes they don't, somewhat useless. Can't imagine filling a grey tank in 12 hours unless large family all taking showers. You may need to reinvent conservation here as the wife and I can go 4-5 days without dumping a tank.

RE: Winterizing Travel Trailer

20 years and less than 2 gallons of antifreeze to winterize.....air vs antifreeze? Neither freeze but I'll take antifreeze. Make sure you drain water heater and bypass it during the process.

RE: EGR Deletes

EGR delete is an aftermarket performance kit the removes the EGR valve and prevents exhaust from recirculating. You will certainly experience performance gains.
