RE: Mens' belts left or right

If you’re left handed it’s the other way round. Think about it. Lefty here, I concur.

RE: A Question Are you limited to life on pavement

Being a bit judgemental today aren't you? Why should the way you want to do things be the best way? When did "Do it my way, or you're wrong" become the mantra for so many people? Pretty much describes most of what I see in here.

RE: IOTA Circuit breaker Box

I asked about 50 or 30 amp service because you CANNOT add excess amp draw to a 30 amp box. 30 amp RV boxes are designed for the 30 amp load in the RV and are designed to split the loads to total 30 amp. If you are trying to run an extra 20 amp circuit and appliance you will overload and trip the Main 30 amp breaker in the Breaker box or the CG pedestal pole breaker. Not really dangerous as the breakers will do their job but just an annoyance. Doug 30A boxes are already overloaded. Try running a/c, water heater, refrigerator, lights and one good plug load at the same time. A bigger issue to note about adding circuits is the NEC only allows five branch circuits from a 30A panel. This note only applies if you actually care what the NEC says.

RE: Is this normal for a 30 amp breaker

Is it a single or dual breaker? They often use a 30/20 for main/air conditioner, which more than doubles the current carried. Give this man a cigar! This breaker combo is all too common and puts most of the heat into one breaker package. When running a/c in 90+ temps that breaker pair will get pretty warm no matter how good the connections.

RE: Electric brakes self adjusting?

Best answer I can give is 'maybe'. You'll just have to consult your manual or pull a drum and look. Pretty sure most are manually adjusted, mine are.

RE: 5th wheels....heck of a following

Anyone notice how there seems to be a lot more posts under the 5th wheel section of RV compared to the other types? Just seems to me more questions/topics about them. Plus, from my blind eye observation, appear to be gaining in popularity. Most will fall into one of the following categories: - "Can my XXXXX truck pull a YYYY fifth wheel?" - "Are there any 1/2 ton towable 5th wheels?" (YES) - "Do I need a 350/3500 or will my 250/2500 truck work?" I'm sure there are others like these which have been beaten to death.

RE: DTV nightmare.. Timmac around?

Phone/Internet service providers are NO better when it comes to customer service. Three years in a row, my wife called Frontier communications to do nothing but renew our service. ALL THREE times the phone service was disconnected. This year it was out for over 2 days, not counting the period of time they rerouted the phone number for a local car wash to our home. Think about that- she was calling to CONTINUE giving them our business and service got cut off THREE STRAIGHT TIMES. What say you, timmac (et al)?

RE: Amazon Prime and Alexa

... You just have to be smarter than the device and take the time to research it out. Most do not make it easy, but those settings are there. Can't improve on these words.

RE: How do you begin to plan for extended road trips?

We usually start by selecting our final destination and work backwards from there. Our daily limit is 400 mi, usually less. We select stopovers based upon this limit, preferring state or USACE parks (less $$$ and more like camping). We rarely attempt to stay anywhere without reservations.

RE: Damaged RV on roads on way home from Florida, anyone else?.

...If they want bike trails then tax bikes to pay for it. Better still- Collect fines from all the cyclists who run stop signs and red lights, yet demand the same rights as vehicles.

RE: Direct TV turn off date

Timmac, Are you a disgruntled former satellite TV employee? Asking for a friend. :):):)

RE: Direct TV turn off date

For those of you using carry out DirecTV domes , check with King. Many of their domes will work with DirecTV HD after change without mods. You and others are missing the point. We who have been and are still using SD equipment are not concerned about not having access to DTV in the future. The concern is having to pay $XXX for a new antenna or dome in order to continue that service. DTV will be paying for the receiver upgrades. As for the poster who asked "how can anyone love SD?", for us it's not a "love" affair. We have gotten by with a lower quality picture for a smaller investment while enjoying the variety of programming AND DVR capability (YES, 2-tuner DVRs for SD). By the way, I have yet to find an acceptable streaming replacement for the DVR when it comes to recording sports programming. There are "cloud DVR" services, but they come at a price. So any discussion of streaming cost vs satellite/cable needs to include those charges.

RE: Water not working at all through city, but it's on outside.

Could also be a bad pressure regulator if you are using one. X2 Check the regulator.

RE: BATTERIES MEASURING 3/4 ON PANEL LED CHECK

If it is a WFCO it was a fail from the start. Voltage will tell. I must have the only WFCO on the planet that still lights the lights, slides the slides, jacks the jacks and charges the batteries. ORIGINAL 2009 equipment. How lucky am I?

RE: Any DIY dish mounts?

Used a piece of 2x8 for the base, with three 18" 2x2 legs. One leg bolted solid, the other two could pivot so they could "fold" up against the fixed leg for storage. Picture a square with three legs sticking out at 120 degrees apart. Added a vertical stove bolt in the end of each leg for leveling. Used this $2 rig for many years until receiving a dome antenna.

RE: Trailer Electric Brakes shudder at low speed....Why?

I guess I will remove drums and inspect. I will service as needed. I have read about chamfering leading edge of shoes, and will sand them down these leading edges. I also know about arcing shoes to drums but I believe that may be a practice rarely employed anywhere/anymore. When the time comes to replace shoes, I will search for someone (hopefully near me) that will turn drums and arc shoes accordingly. Chamfering the shoes does basically the same as arcing used to do- eliminates the 'grabiness'.

RE: Looking for a durable air mattress

We've had good luck with Aerobeds. We've had 4 of them. We have 3 from Queen down to twin size. Our first one did develop a leak at the large valve used to dump the air. The three we have now work fine. https://www.coleman.com/aerobed/ x2 on the Aerobed. 3 years and no leaks.

RE: What's the one thing that you have but hardly EVER use?

Outside propane stove (built-in). Just dead weight.
