RE: 6.4 litre HEMI vs Cummins

Im one that upgraded from a 6.4 to a cummins. Went from a 03 cummins to the 17 6.4 thinking it would do the trick but hated listening to it scream up hills towing so traded it in a year later on a 17 cummins. Night and day.

RE: Tire Question- truck tires or ST

Castle Rock = run of the mill load C/D E china may pops. LT tires that size and load range haven't been made in years. If your wanting to use a LT tire your gonna' have to go with 16" wheels. Lots of different LT E in 16" still left on the market. The new gen ST rated tires like the Providers....Carlisle HD ....and Goodyear Endurance all have much better reliability/service record now days if you want to stick with the 225/75-15 E size tires. You sure don't need a load G tire on that size trailer. Sounds good, naw im not gonna upgrade rim size, ill stick with same size but look for a way better tire like you mentioned.

Tire Question- truck tires or ST

So last wednesday pulling my trailer, on one of my tires the tread completley came off the tire almost like it was a retread but they were carlyle tires from the factory, probably less that 5000 miles on them. Took off the plastic fender over the tires and messed up a chunk of metal on my slide. Im going to get 4 new tires, can i just put a truck tire on my trailer with load range E or do I need to stick with a trailer tire? Im not a big fan of ST trailer tires. Thanks for your input. Seems like carlyle would be liable to me

RE: Joined the club today.

We've been looking for a few weeks to get an older camper that would fit our truck and make camping a little easier. I really wanted to be in around 3-4k and thought I'd get something 15-20 years old. Yeah, that's not going to happen. Made an offer on a 2007 northstar which was really nice. Probably should have offered more. But, after missing several opportunities, having a couple offers turned down, I finally found one in our price range, good condition and able to fit a short bed. It was posted for 17 minutes when i called. 1995 Northland 860. Can't remember which model. A little heavier than I wanted, but lighter than any of the others out there once slides became common. No leaks which was critical to us. Fridge isn't working on propane which is fine for now. I'll get it home, add air bags, forklift tie downs and a sway bar. Wash it and maybe buy a cover for it. Front of camper needs bumpers too. Looks like they fell off at some point with no damage to the wood. I need to make a little thing to hold the camper shell from the truck. I bought a northland camper last year, i think 1999 and my fridge didnt work on propane either, worked on power. I took it to local RV dealer and it just needed a new circuit board for like $150.

RE: Getting the truck ready?

i bought the frame mounted tork lift tie downs and mounted them myself on my Ram and bought the happi jack like above. the back ones go right to the mount but the front I had to use a D ring with some chain links to make them work.

RE: 2018 RAM 6.4L Farkles and D vs G

I did the opposite, i went from a 2003 cummins to a new 2017 ram 2500 6.4L, couldnt stand the screaming up hills pulling my trailer so after a year traded it back in on a new 2017 2500 cummins. Its funny, I was so used to my 03 cummins 6speed that the first time i pulled with that hemi it scared the **** out of me. pulling a steep grade for the first time with my trailer and that thing down shifted probably into second and about 4500 rpms, i wasnt ready for that lol. pulled a few more times and that was enough.

RE: Fords new 7.3 Godzilla

Been reading a lot about the new 7.3 gasser from Ford and it certainly looks impressive. People are reporting 15 mpg non towing. New diesels with all the emissions **** are not doing a whole lot better than that and at a cost of $8000 more for the diesel option. That would buy a lot of gasoline. The complexity of the newer diesels have changed my thinking on engines. I run an 05 Ram Cummins and will at some point buy a new vehicle. I raised the hood on a new F350 last week and could not believe how everything is jammed in there. Looks like this push rod V8 from Ford may be a real winner. per the computer im getting between 19-21 non towing in my 17 ram cummins with cruise set around 73 or so. On flat ground of course, probably the same as that 15.

RE: 2018 RAM 2500 with Adventurer 910DB

Im not gonna sit here and argue about it. Have you checked out the wolf creeks? Does your 811 have a slide in it which makes it way heavier? The 850 wolf creek is 2000 dry. Two completly different campers.

RE: 2018 RAM 2500 with Adventurer 910DB

ive got ride rite 5000 bags on my 2017 ram 2500 and my old northland is probably about same weight as that wolfcreek (which i like those campers) and it does fine with that weight and the bags. Check out the 840's to. I like that layout of the 840 versus the 850.

RE: 2018 RAM 2500 with Adventurer 910DB

I just bought a 8ft northland camper a few months ago for my 2017 ram 2500 long bed cummins. Still had to put air bags on it because its so rocky from side to side with those crappy coil springs. I will never by a coil spring truck again. Ist pretty light, probaby around 1800 empty, it hardly squats me but again, the crappy coil springs.

RE: Weight capacity for 2019 Ram 1500

I went with firestone ride-rite 2598.

RE: Weight capacity for 2019 Ram 1500

Like others have said, if you do go with a camper, get the airbags outside of the coils. I have a ram 2500 with coils and it was rocky as hell before I put the air bags on. I would never buy a coil spring truck again. Works good with my travel trailer with no bags.

RE: Fridge Doesnt work on Propane

Update on this. Took it to local RV place who are very good people and it turned out to be the board on the fridge. Replaced with a new one and good to go.
